What's going on with the Vita release, already?

I'm getting both increasingly anxious and increasingly frustrated as time moves on. Telltale has repeatedly hyped the game as coming out before Christmas, yet still have not said anything concrete on whether the game will be available for Vita at launch. I know what various people on here THINK, but we have no official word from Telltale, and various sites claim different things. I know that I am going to be really upset if, after all this, the game doesn't launch on Vita. I've waited more patiently than a lot of people, and by now, Telltale has to know all the consoles it is launching on. Yet, for some reason, they've refused to say, even when contacted directly by fans.

Comments

  • I guess Vita release will come later, probably after the release of all episodes. I hope I'm wrong.

  • Like I said, I know what people around here think. I'm looking for some kind of official comment from Telltale.

  • Hopefully it never comes out so us console players aren't limited by them developing it for a handheld gaming device. Don't want to have them cutting back on game features due to the limited processing power of a handheld game.

There is indeed no official comment on WHEN the Vita version will release, but I think you're looking for official confirmation that it will be available at initial launch during the next weeks. I know you're still hoping, but this really is off the table, I'm sorry. Telltale doesn't know when they can deliver it, but they do know that it won't be before Christmas.

    No. Big no-no. Forum Guidelines!

    Platformism. Console wars. Not here.

  • But you have said many times you are not staff, so how can you say. And regardless, if that is the case, Telltale should have said so long ago. It's really not right to keep promising it will be out before a certain date, while never mentioning certain consoles will be excluded from this.

    From the OFFICIAL FAQ:

In addition to PC and Mac, The Walking Dead: Season Two will be available for Xbox 360 from the Xbox Games Store and for PlayStation 3 from the PlayStation Store. It will also be available for compatible iOS devices from the App Store. Other platforms may be announced in the future.

That's it, TheDuck, I'm honestly sorry, but that's it. Yes, the Vita version was already confirmed to come out eventually by the press, but this is the only thing to come from the horse's mouth, and that's exactly the extent of the 'promise' that the first episode will be out before X-mas. It does not include Vita and never has included Vita.

  • But that is in no way an answer. It also clearly states they may announce more platforms it is coming out on, so that gives hope for a Vita release for launch.

Oh, the Vita version IS announced already. But I believe it's very striking that the official FAQ doesn't even mention it, and that Laura, just four days ago, wouldn't dare to comment on the simultaneous release issue. To me, it's abundantly clear where this leads to. For all we actually know, Season 2 could release next week - and Vita was never confirmed to be among the launch platforms, not even the intent was voiced.

No promise given, no FAQ entry, official statements are avoided and two multi platform games are scheduled already... I'd be surprised out of my wits if they pulled this off.

  • Like I said, I know what you and other people here think. But there is still no official word from Telltale, and regardless of what the truth is, that is the issue. If it's not happening, THEY need to say that. There is simply no way they are unaware that people want to know, so why not just say "Yeah, it's not happening"? That only aggravates fans, while simultaneously giving them the hope that there is still a chance, thus why they haven't denied it outright.
