No Sandman? That's my favourite graphical novel.
I'm also a big fan of classics like Asterix, Gaston and Tintin.
Old EC & DC horror stuff.
2000 AD: almost every issue from about mid 89 to 2008
Roy of the Rovers: almost every issue from about 88 until the close of the comic in 2001.
Batman: only really the graphical novel's. Batman: The Killing Joke, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman/Judge Dredd: Judgment on Gotham, Batman/Judge Dredd : Die Laughing, Gotham by Gaslight, etc.
Heavy Metal: almost every issue to 2010.
My favorite comic writers are Jeph Loeb, Frank Miller, Mark Millar, Paul Dini, Matt Wagner, and Robert Kirkman. My least favorites are Alan Moore (his beliefs creep me the hell out), Grant Morrison (not bad, just can't get into his stuff as well as others), and Todd MacFarlane (same reason as Grant Morrison). My favorite artists are Jim Lee, David Mazzucchelli, Matt Wagner, and Neal Adams
My favorite comic book writer is Ed Brubaker. I loved what he did with Captain America. I also loved Steve Epting's art during that series. I currently have most of my comics digitally except for Brubaker's "Scene Of The Crime" and issue #1 of Velvet which Brubaker and Epting are working on together.
I love espionage/noir!!!
Jim Lee is without a doubt the best comic book artist today.
Anyone here read the Sonic and Mega Man comics?
Seems not.
Lets see... what comic books do I own...
Fables, Volume 1: Legends in Exile (purchased the digital version because of The Wolf Among Us, and I loved it)
Sam & Max Surfin' the Highway Anniversary Edition (I've been a big fan since I read them in The Adventurer. I bought Hit the Road because of the Adventurer comics)
The Simpsons/Futurama Crossover Crisis (a great crossover that stays true to the spirit of both shows. I also read the other Futurama comics from time to time, as they are usually pretty funny and faithful to the show)
Star Trek: Countdown (the opening of the 2009 movie made me want to see how the events came to be, and it didn't disappoint)
I also plan on picking up the Bone: 20th Anniversary Full Color One Volume Edition once I get some extra cash (I became of fan of them because of the Telltale Bone games. I read the rest of the Bone comics after Telltale lost the license, and became hooked after I read Eyes of the Storm, which is where it starts to get really good).
Oddly, I'm really a big fan of the DC Animated Universe and the DC Universe animated movies, but I haven't read any superhero comics. I'm really interested in The Dark Knight Returns. That's on my to-read list next time I get the chance.
I used to own Garfield: His 9 Lives (I really liked this book as they had several interpretations of the characters. I really wish I still had that). I also owned a compilation book of Peanuts that I wish I still had.
On the subject of comic strips, the ones I enjoy are Calvin & Hobbes, Foxtrot, The Wizard of Id, and B.C. I really liked the April fools joke they did in 1997 where several artists from different popular comic strips drew strips for different comics (the one I remember most is the Blondie/Garfield crossover). I wish they'd make a trade paperback collection for that.
I also like several webcomics. The ones I enjoy are Conies (which the author graciously let me do a cross-over for my own webcomic (which is awesome, as I always do fan-art for things I love, but this is the first time I was ever able to do an approved storyline with something I enjoyed) and Dirt Nap (my favorite of the Double Fine comics, as the storyline seems to keep getting better with each new strip).
I also used to read Penny Arcade and I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle, but I haven't read them for years (the latter is storyline based, so it would take me a while to catch up if I ever decided to get back into it).
One of the completed webcomics I enjoyed was Sam & Max: The Big Sleep (I'm hoping they make an updated Sam & Max comic collection that includes this one). I also wish Dunk: The Comic Creator/Dank: The Caveman Inventor would continue some day (that one was a huge inspiration for my own webcomic, along with Tasha's Comic).
Oh, and the Telltale forum collaborative comic, Torpedo Rock: Detective for Hire, is awesome too. Feel free to make a new strip for that one (even if you don't think you have drawing skills, as some of the funniest comic pages were drawn by supmandude85 in a really simple style in MS Paint). The beauty of this webcomic is that anyone can join in.
