I am comparing them to themselves. If you look back at the Sam & Max seasons, for example, you will notice that it took only ~1 month for each episode to be released for the vast majority of the episodes throughout all 3 seasons. That is what I would consider a timely manner. That was a good pace for their releases. Now, not only do we not get solid release dates, but we seem to have to wait at least 2 months or nearly so for each subsequent episode. Add to this the sheer brick wall we come up against when it comes to trying to get ANY information about why it is taking them so long. There is also the fact that they already have an established engine and formula that they are now sticking to in the form of TWD Season 1, which I would think would allow them to release episodes more frequently. Instead, we are having to wait even longer, somehow. The longest wait between episodes in TWD S1 was approximately 2 months. Yet, we waited nearly 4 for the second episode of TWAU. We waited about 2 and 1/2 months for episode 2 of TWD S2. They keep taking longer with little to no explanation of why. There is clearly something wrong with that and I can't believe that you don't see that this pattern is a problem.
I would like having the episodes released in a timely manner
You seem to be under the impression that it's always possible to get an… more episode out on time and still have the level of quality we expect from a Telltale game. It isn't. Telltale aren't doing us a favour by delaying these games, they're doing us a service by having an episodic model at all. No other developer can produce a game with the same speed and quality that Telltale can. None. Every other developer that ever tried to make episodic games has abandoned it because they can't make quality games in such a short amount of time.
Telltale's episode model isn't perfect, but what are you comparing it to?
