We don't know if Pete will survive his amputation if you chose to go with him. That's actually the first major thing people who saved Pete will have to deal with. If he had been shown in the trailer AT ALL it would have spoiled what happens to Pete during the amputation.
I started to think the same thing about "well we didn't see him in any trailers or pictures, so he must be dead" but people have been making pretty good cases that TT has a history of changing things here and there in the episode and trailer that throws us a curve ball.
well in a way the reason i think Pete could have died is because in the trailer Nick says. ''Everyone i grew up with it all happen to them'' which could hint that even if you saved Pete he possibly doesn't cut his leg off in time and turns into one of them or if you saved Nick later on in Episode 2 Pete shows back up as a walker. just my ideas
Maybe Pete is the ITYWD person :O! Im guessing him and clementine get cornered and pete distracts the walkers so clem can escape? Yea people would be pissed but you never know with TT

He's not dead. When Carver says he's looking for a group of seven, he only talks about Luke, Nick, Carlos, Sarah, Alvin and Rebecca. Who is the 7th? Probably Pete.
This proves nothing at all. In the episode 5 trailer for Season 1 a good majority of the scenes showed Ben in them and then they snuck in that little snipit of the scene where Christa falls back down into the hole. Go to about 0:55 into the video you will see what I mean.
Yeah, cause it's not like we saw him get dropped into a pit of zombies and get ripped apart, not like we didn't hear him get shot by Kenny, not like we didn't leave him for dead, impaled, and it's CERTAINLY not like we heard that he got brutally beaten up by Vernon and left for dead.

Also: In Telltale's history, trailers haven't always the story in the game 100% correctly... on purpose, to avoid spoilers.
