Like one of these posts said I don't know where you got the idea that he fully forgives him
Even if he did it's not like he would be buddy buddy that's actually a realistic take
If somebody got your family killed you may forgive him but you still feel contempt for them
TL;DR : Kenny is just putting on a fake cheerful persona, but the mask will fall soon. He didn't really mean what he said about Ben.
Acco… morerding to his VA, we'll warm up to him in EP3 , and some file diggers found that there'll be a scene where he's crying in that EP. I'm sure he's gonna have an emotional break down, and when that happens he'll tell Clem the truth about how he really feels about the past and present.
Kenny saved Ben because he forgave him somehow, but that doesn't mean that Kenny changed his opinion about Ben's actions.
I really don't get how that line can ruin the season 1 scene at all. Kenny saving him doesn't made him a "shitbird" anymore? nonsense, or you want to Kenny say :" For some reason i tried to save that handsome hero Ben" ?
Why are people so unforgiving in this game? I saw people root and cheer while Nick was being eaten by walkers just because he almost killed … moreClem ONCE by accident when he was super paranoid... How can people even be on Kenny's side slightly, i mean were talking about the guy who assumed Lee can lockpick just because hes black, that Nick and Luke are gay just because their good friends, and he also wanted to leave a girl to die a horrible death even though he had the ability to spare her
No, it kind of upset me too. The only noble thing he ever did and he regrets it and still puts the kid down . Just goes to show he hasn't changed a bit.
While I think it's pushing it to say that Ben was Clem's best friend, I would have liked for the conversation about what happened to have felt a little less glossed over.
I don't think Ben was her best friend at all. As for Kenny calling him that I can understand him still hating Ben after all if it wasn't for Ben Duck wouldn't have died .
i didn't really take it as insult to Ben. regardless of trying to save ben in the end, kenny still saw ben as a massive screw up, but that he really did mean well. part of his frustration in telling clem about his "supposed demise" could well be that he treated ben like shit, and when he finally tried to do something nice for the kid and help, the best he could do was kill him before the walkers got him. he doesn't say it to be mean. he sounds more like a drunk talking about the old days.
Yes a gif with a bunch of completely unremarkable quotes presented as if they're profound statements... nothing weird and obsessive about that at all. Especially not within the context of the post preceding it! Nope.
I'll be honest this line pissed me off, I hated Kenny but i actually liked him when i thought he gave his life just to show how sorry he was… more and how he used the last bullet to stop Ben from facing his biggest fear and then Kenny taking all the pain for him and becoming a walker however when i saw Kenny was there it kinda lost some of the feels for that moment but i got over it and then Kenny says this which totally ruined every good thought i had for him and on top of that he calls my two favorite characters gay and then makes fun of them -_- well he made fun of Nick anyways
"I think the fact that Kenny calls Ben a shitbird with warmth and mirth in his voice shows that he actually has a warm spot in his heart for Ben (with some hard feelings too, for sure). IMO, you can't really call people something like that with warmth in your voice if there isn't a deeper affection for them behind it."
I admit that I laughed at that line, but you make a fair point. The fanbase is entirely too hard on Ben (some of it is deserved, but he's an… more easy scapegoat for everything even though he was just another poor S.O.B. doing what he could to survive the ZA).
I don't know if Kenny calling him a "fucking shitbird" really demeans Kenny's forgiveness though... He says it with humor and warmth in his voice. In reality, Ben was clumsy and did so many stupid things, he really was the "fool" of the group (even if he became the type of fool we can sympathize with, and we realized he was just an imperfect human like everybody else).

That's how I heard it, too. Even at that moment, if he could go back, I think he still would have done the same thing. Its just that it isn't easy to talk in entirely affectionate terms about the guy who got your family killed.
Oh wow quit being a little bitch what are you, 10? Ben was a fucking asshole who put the whole group in danger I let him drop in season 1 to give the zombies a nice meal & would do it again a million times

Eh, to be honest I think you are making mountains out of mole hills. You seem to think that in that one moment Ben's outburst caused a wave of forgiveness to flow over Kenny. Kenny has always been a character to hold a grudge and I don't think he forgave Ben as much as he understood and sympathised with him a little more. As for the Shitbird comment... I'm sure if he truly hated Ben he could have come up with something worse, it didn't even sound like it was full of contempt. Ultimately Kenny still held Ben accountable for his families death.
Makes no sense, Ben was a traitor who put everyone's lives at risk including two little kids that is a FACT so anyone who has any sort of sympathetic feelings towards him is probably like him in real life & needs to grow a pair of balls. Kenny would have never said what he did if he didn't put his sons life in danger so therefore yes I would have exactly the same reaction regardless of who the character was.
Personally you are being a little harsh in your statement, Ben screwed up and that was just it, good intentions gone awry. I sympathise with Ben and to be perfectly honest I think your assumption is right, I am like Ben. A little awkward, nervous at times and prone to make wrong decisions every now and again while still meaning well, I like Ben because unlike the rest of the Cast to me he is relatable.

Just because Kenny sort of forgave Ben doesn't mean he still doesn't resent him for the fuck ups he made! People forgive but don't forget. I see nothing wrong with the shitbird comment he made. Besides, he wont even mention Ben if you (Spoilers) left Ben in Crawford
I man who would sacrifice his life for someone he hated would that not make you trust him more a true hero
wish telltale stayed true to his character like this like you said
Kenny: Funny story Clem remember ben the time he left you to die, murdered my family and group with his decisions. Gave our food/supplies to bandits etc.
Clem: Yeah what intelligent heroic guy
Kenny: hahaha yeah now lets drink our juice boxes then i'll shave my beard

Kenny is a pussy
Obvious troll is obvious, do you by any chance like Luke?
If he shows emotion he's a pussy, if he doesn't he's a douche.
There's no getting out of it for poor ol' Ken huh? lol

For Kenny, it was 2 years since that scene. One would think that he has a different look on what he did in 2 years...

i LOVE Luke and Nick
I think it's just a tough guy act. He doesn't want to get all sappy over Ben.
Spot on!
The act is gonna drop in EP3. People have already found out in the files that there'll be a scene where Ken's crying.
What.s so obsessive about making a gif. I see dozens of them on these forums. Just because it's Ben who you seem to hate?

Fuck. Ben.
Really? Photo? Would be interesting!
That "gay" thing was obviously just his attempt at a light-hearted joke like that beans thing. He's not too good at it, apparently.
Oh god, shes back
When I let him fall in the bell tower, I was hoping for a "Pull Trigger" on the shotgun option! He is a shitbird, f**k Ben!

yes, exactly! finally someone noticed this!
agreed!
I thought he said it kind of affectionately. Like you may say of a favorite dog "I love that dumb bastard".
If only these forums had a better search engine, I could find it a lot faster.
It was in one of those file digging threads by senhorcreeper, I think;
Oh wow quit being a little bitch what are you, 10? Ben was a fucking asshole who put the whole group in danger I let him drop in season 1 to give the zombies a nice meal & would do it again a million times
Okay, whatever you say.
Would you have the same reaction if he was talking about someone you liked? I dont think so.
Kenny sucks tho
are you talking about this one ?
because he tears up if you pick any other option other than "HUG KENNY". so he may not cry in next ep

GO SHE WHO SHANT BE MENTIONED
My mistake 3 Years.
Christa isn't called a shitbird so I was fine with the return of the beard.

You just misinterpreted the line. That wasn't contempt in his voice, it was affection.
