Do you think there is any hope for a happy ending?
I know we still have a while to go and a couple episodes left, but I can't help but think about how this season will end. I don't know if I could take another season one-like ending. Things in The Walking Dead world always just go from bad to worse.
How do you guys think or hope it all plays out?

No, I don't expect a happy ending.
Bittersweet, perhaps, but not entirely happy.
Yes, but only depending on the player's choices, never forced
Yes. Clem, Luke, and Kenny are going to go to Wellington and have a happily ever after ending. c:
I think they will mix things up this season... Yes people will die but not until you are the only one left like last season.
I really hope so! A piece of me died in the final meeting between Clem and Lee
I genuinely hope for an ending where everyone can survive and make it to Wellington depending on player actions.
A Happy Ending? In The Walking Dead?
All I know is that we will be devastated again.
It ALL depends on what they want to do with Clemintine. I feel they need an EPIC cliffhanger at the end of the season to keep her story going to pick it up for an obvious Clem-Controlled season 3. Or they may end the series with Clem living happily ever after. I see two scenarios.
Clem Story Ends: I can see her living on peacefully with whoever's left after everything is said and done. Probably leads Wellington in a defense against Carver's men, an choice of killing Carver or not, etc.
Clem Story Continues: Carver (or another Character?) may kidnap Clem and make use HER for his child replacement. I can see a time leap here to Season 3 where they trains her into becoming a nimble parkour Molly-esque character, kind of like a polar opposite to Lee's physique. Imagine being able to parkour!
Regardless, the ending will be morose and dark toned. Just keep Clem from becoming Ellie (The Last of Us) and it will be a happy ending.
I think it will end in tears for one simple reason: most people don't appreciate what they have until it is taken away from them. Losing something makes you realize the true value of the things you hold dear. More simply, "Death is the mother of beauty" (Wallace Stevens).
(Just look at how emotional and powerful the first season was. If everybody had survived and sailed off on a boat into the sunset, it would have been just another forgettable game like so many others... But go for a bittersweet resolution and most of us will never forget how the first season ended)
Well, there's that reason and the fact this IP is easily one of the most pessimistic and heart-breaking I've ever encountered (in a good way!).
I think this song (and this thread) will answer all your questions.
Lot's of people heading to Wellington. More people = more trouble. It'll just be left on some crazy cliffhanger for S3.
Yea we will probably meet Lee's wife too lol
I would be fine if Luke and Clem were alone at the end of the season. If Luke dies, I will weep.
brb gonna go throw my computer off a bridge and pretend I never read that.
Same. Luke is my favorite character this season (besides Clem of course).
Let's just say if Clem hasn't become someone like Carl or Ellie, it'll definitely be a happier ending.
Well if she ends up like Ellie then we'd never have to worry about her getting infected! /s
Hopefully but Kirkman clearly states that there is no happy ending...but that gif though...
On a side note: I hope Kirkman reconsiders that idea and plans a good ending anyways.
I hope not, I absolutely despise happy endings. I want them to be as miserable, dark and brutal as they possibly can.
Right! Clem, Luke, and Sarah!
Well if Telltale does what they did last time you'll sure as hell get your wish haha.
While bittersweet endings can be done well, purely super-sad endings tend to be bullshit. Season 1's ending was great, because while it was sad, it left one with hope. Namely, that Clementine would live on and grow up to be a badass. But if Season 2 ends with everyone just keeling over and succumbing to the apocalypse, I don't think that'd be very satisfying no matter which way you slice it.
That being said, a smart man (I want to say Yahtzee) pointed out that there's only so happy the ending can be in a universe such as this. Even if a cure were to show up (which ain't gonna happen), 99% of the population is still dead and vicious creatures dominate most of the world. Things aren't looking good for mankind as a whole.
However...Just because the human race as as a whole isn't going to turn out okay, that doesn't mean that the characters we've grown to love can't end on a happy note. They may not save the world, but they can still form a new life that's more than just survival. Personally, I think the bittersweet ending of Season 1 would pair up perfectly with a genuinely happy ending in Season 2.
Dang... That reminds me of Walter's speech kind of. Still, I really hope we are left off with some type of hope or happiness for the characters like you said. It's just how much damage is done before we get to the end.
Well said there, couldn't agree more, especially the part where you said about Season 1's ending being sad but having a small ray of hope still lighting along the path for Clem.
Okay, people dying is getting old now, people close to you dying IS OLD TOO. Why not try something different? I wanna see remittance and innovation here not all death all death wtf? I am tired of this fucking shit. lol srry for my frustration.
Nobody cares about Sarita lol.
I think it may end up being Clem and Rebecca's baby as the only ones left alive at the end.
Clem having to take care of an infant all by herself. That's probably the most depressing ending I can come up with.
I hope the story with clem is ending happily with her, luke, and christa settling at wellington, and then we'll start another story with another character
That'd be kind of cool, actually. It would be going full circle in a way.
I have a good feeling 4 people make it Clem, Luke, Kenny and Sarita
If Clem doesnt die at ep5, it will be happy ending for me.
Same, but I'm really starting to like a lot of the cabin survivors. It sucks knowing that not all of them will make it.
I could see either Kenny or Luke, but the way they've been setting it up, I think there will be a decision between the both of them at the end, which is what I'm really dreading.
No happy endings here. Kenny will have some super dramatic death in the end.
Nonsense Kenny is invincible and will never die. Viva el Beardo!
Louis CK sums up how I feel about this topic.
"Why the fuck would anything nice happen?"
