I want to start out by saying that I played through episode 2 last night and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. Going by w… morehat Raptr reports, it took me over two hours, with one quick reload and a couple of dumb deaths. I felt that the length was right on.
What I didn't love: plotholes, basically. Or at least, points during the story during which I felt as though there weren't proper dialogue options. For example, after Clementine left Pete, it was pretty much guaranteed he was going to either be zombie food or a zombie, himself. So why did Clem agree to just go out searching for him when she was pretty much 100% sure it was pointless? It wasn't so much that she would do it, as much as she didn't even bother to mention the fact that, ya know...Pete's dead as a doornail, one way or the other, and maybe somebody should give her some answers about this mustached gentleman who paid her a visit, and they should spend some time … [view original content]
There was plenty enough time to think about the lights. They even talked about it but group didn't give two shits about the lights. Why? Because Nick Breckon
I agree Season 2 is shocking but less interaction all together... HUB and options are lacking and then options barely affect much.. Then again they never really did...
Rebecca: Clem, Luke said you saw some people in the valley...?
Alvin: People? Way down there? How?
Rebecca: Shes got binoculars, genius.
Clementine: I saw lights.
Carlos: We cannot take any chances. We leave at dawn.
Fuckin idiot.
I agree with what most said, not enough hub areas. One of my favorite detail in season 1 was to be able to interact, converse and sometimes take care of (like giving candybars in the drug store) the group members freely.
If they just put a bit more of that in the coming episodes I would have no complaints whatsoever. The plot is interesting and fitting of twd, the conversations is interesing and our choices seem relevant + sassy Clem.
I also realize that we're only 2 episodes in so far and have therefor pretty high hopes that there will be alot more "free-roaming" in episode 3 and forward.
However, like I stated, other than the lack of hub areas I do think that Telltale is still great at giving their games quality. I'm not disappointed yet and don't expect to be disappointed in the future. (of The Walking Dead series and TWAU anyway)
I see what you mean. I think TWD is moving towards being an interactive cartoon/movie and is leaving behind some of the typical adventure elements (explore the surroundings, etc), because they realised that the plot and the dialogues were the most appreciated features in season 1 and they want to focus on it. I like how the game evolved visually and the movie-like "camera" angles, but I miss the feeling of not being rushed through the episodes and having some minutes to examine the different settings.

Well I think we have to give it a chance because we're not even halfway into the season so judging it now would be unfair but going episode by episode they're good episodes but at the moment season 1 is WAY ahead of season 2 at the moment.
I thought though the ending scene at the end of season 2 episode 2 where Carter has the group captured was very well done, like watching a movie.
But something negative is that im not too excited for the rest of it. I will play the whole season but im not as drawn to this season as I was season 1. It's still early days but by this time season 1 was a standout, the puzzle solving was great, the dialogue was always great and by this time, we were already having better relationships with the characters then season 2 .
Still, it's a good season so far but I think the main problem is that season 1 set such a high bar that people are expecting season 2 to be better which IMO will never be possible but it's all down to opinion. Some people think season 2 has the best episodes to date, some people disagree. Some people preferred Lee as the playable character over Clem, some the other opinion, its all opinion.
Hub Areas are very good.

Just simple moments where you had a moment's peace and could talk and get to know the characters. Group them up sometimes if you want some dynamic conversations too. Otherwise the Season has been good. But nearly everyone misses hubs and getting to know the characters by talking with them. I got attached to Mark in Episode 2 just because we went hunting, talked in the Motor Inn, and fixed a fence.
All I got to know from Pete was that he warmed up to Clementine quicker then everyone else. If we had gotten to talk about his sister, or about his friend who got a limb cut off, or anything, I might've cared more about him.
Telltale is not listening to the fans. Most of us didn't want Kenny to return. They think he has a large fanbase, but the truth is no one outside this forum likes that character. His return should have been a choice. Now I won't be able to enjoy the game until he's killed off. Also, characters going missing or being written out for no apparent reason (Lilly, Molly, Christa, Luke) is a sign of lazy writing in my book. If the writing doesn't improve any time soon, people won't be able to take the game seriously anymore. One of the reasons people don't like TWD: The Show is the ridiculous amount of unlikeable characters. If they don't start killing off unlikeable characters (Kenny, Sarita, Bonnie) the game might reach the show's level of stupidity sooner than you think. And I don't think that's what they're aiming for.

Seems more unreasonable to me to think that the only possible way for a character to leave the direct attention of the player is for them to be killed off. Molly left the group, Lilly got left behind, Luke has been gone for about 10 minutes going by in game time, and Christa got separated. This isn't laziness it's a natural progression of events. When your friends leave your house they are separated from you. They don't have to die to leave your house. Well, at least they don't have to die to leave my house. I can't speak for you, cause I don't actually know.

Nick Breckon. He wrote Episodes 1 and 2, although I don't see how him being a former moderator is any indication of skill or lack thereof. We should judge his contribution to the season based on his current work's merits and faults, not on what he used to do before, I think.

They're actually good episodes but the problem is that Season 1 was such a high standard that it was always going to be hard for Season 2 to match it. They have Clementine who a lot of people care for but besides her, Season 1 characters just destroy Season 2 characters but i feel that's not their fault because Season 1 characters, we got more chances to talk and get to make friendships with.
I like the first season more than the second. The first season had a lot of substance and darkness, as well as variety in terms of locations You had the city, farm, sewer system in Savannah, train, Crawford, the boardwalk, train station etc. Just more locales. Season 2 is mostly the woods.
There is also less to do for Clem. I feel like I had more tasks to accomplish as Lee and get shit done than as Clem in season 2
The visuals: I liked the way season 1 prompted you to pick a dialogue or course of action. Just one line. Nice and easy. I am not an idiot, I dont need a HUGE BOX to show me the dialogue.
I dont like the characters of season 2 at all. From the first episode where they all threw this 11 year old little girl in a shed cause they thought she was bitten, I was turned off. I couldnt believe it. I mean ok so they thought she was bitten. Are you seriously telling me that even if that were the case, half a dozen grown ass adults, most of whom are men, could not have taken a little walker? Really?
I hated Rebecca but overall just really all of them as they were unpleasant people. In season 1 I liked the characters a lot more. On her worst day Lily was more real and likable than any of the characters in here, including Luke. I dont know if it is the writing (Sean Vanaman has since left Telltale) or what, but I really did not like most of the characters in season 2. Something about them. The only one i could warm up to is Walter and he was killed. I never felt like Clem bonded with Luke much (and they tried really hard to make it look like that, even though it just did not flow from the story) and it really bothered me how often they send Clem in to fix their shit when there were a bunch of adult men around able to do the same. Clem had no real friends. There was no relationship between them. I never warmed up to Rebecca. Or Alvin. Even Nick and Jane. In contrast, I really liked everyone in season 1. Shit even larry was more likable. I dont really feel like Clem bonded with anyone like the way she had bonded with Lee and the other folks in season 1. It just never felt right.
Dont get me wrong, I still enjoyed season 2, but i just replayed 1 and it was sooo good and i realized how much i miss it and how season 2 really leaves quite a bit to be desired.

Yep they are lousy. And the characters this season were all pathetic. I was so glad to be rid of so many of them. I kept Jane around cause she is a badass. I shot a hole in that guy that used to be Kenny. Didn't mind seeing mike and Bonnie go, and I didn't care too much when Luke drowned.
Give me more puzzles and more chatting time with characters.

I can't even lie.... I didn't give a honey-glazed shit about Luke until after the campfire scene, which is like 5 minutes before he dies anyway, so I still didn't really care. Only Season 2 characters I liked were Pete, Nick, Walter, and Mike before his bull shit heel turn.
I know right? I wanted to personally kill Rebecca in season 1. The writing didnt give me an option to diss her some more. I liked Nick but they didnt fo anything with his character and just when Luke started being interesting, they killed him off in this afterthought kinda manner.

About pete they probably already knew he was dead but wanted to make sure he didn't suffer
I guess as some form of closure
JIZAD is a troll too?
Dunno.
Man,there are more trolls on the forum than I ever imagined.
Actually, they talked about the lights when clem went upstairs.
When you say options do you mean choices
Dawn was obviously a bad idea and anyone could see that. Carver was obviously going to catch up to them at night.
I don't really think so, i think there are only about 3 with a shit-ton of alternate accounts.
I hate to say this but these episodes are kind of lackluster compared to Season 1. It just doesn't seem interesting as the first one
I hate to say but these episodes are AWESOME! More please.

Its not a fact altough my favorite episode of TWD is starved for help alot of people dont agree with that so its not a fact

No.
Camtasia was used to edit that right?
I'm not even gonna try and stay on this thread any longer.
I know about 20 of my gamer friends that love Kenny and don't have an account on the forum. About 10 or so kids and the rest adults.
That is the only line i wished to argument. I'm just too lazy to write about the others.

This would be the logical stance.
I agree. You didn't write this episodes are BAD. Just worse. And that's true. But still it's only two episodes. I hope TTG will show us more.

The ridiculously high number of Kenny threads on this forum kind of indicate otherwise, don't you think?

No one can let a thread die here can they?
Hey I remember seeing this thread when I first started lurking this place (and didn't agree with it)
Crazy how time flies (and how I still don't agree with it)
