Any "unimportant" characters who you feel drawn to?
Here, by "unimportant" I mean side characters who, depending on situation, barely manage to survive a single episode or who do/did not get as much screen time as you would like/have liked them to have. Perhaps they never even appear at all but have a visible backstory. Depending on the character in question they may be considered unimportant "death food" to the main plot, but still make you feel something as characters and/or as individuals.
It is a bit challenging to explain, so I shall put up a few examples of my own.
Aside from Pete, Walter and Matthew from Season 2, who are relatively fresh at the moment... I would like to draw examples from Season 1.
Fivel and Walter (dog). Both did actually appear in the game, however, fallen. Fivel was the "walker Duck" in the attic and Walter was his loyal dog whose collar you use to gain access to their family's mansion.
The scene where you carry Fivel's body outside and bury him with his dog was the one scene that actually made me shed tears, got me good.
Also, Joyce of the cancer survivors. It is a bit of a weird one, yes. I suppose in a way during her nicest, quiet moments she reminds me of my mother both in her sorrowful appearance and worried personality, which in itself makes her a feel-bomb for me. If she does return again with the others only to be used as a disposable character, I will probably break apart, haha...
...Man I am such a mama's boy.
Anyway, I'd like to hear who you like. Let us focus on the little things for a change.
Comments
Well... Pete, Walter and Matthew (a little worried about the last one, not sure what to think at first) were those kind of characters that give you a great first impressions and then SNAP! telltale kills them (what are you doing to me?!). I was kinda rooting for them but... damn.
From season 1 I was bummed by Lee´s family which is kind of obvious.
It killed me when Lee talked to his brother about the whereabouts of their parents... and the bloody mattress... just sad (given the fact that Lee wasn´t there for them)
Does Matthew count? He was there for only a couple minutes and yet I felt extremely upset about his death.
How that girl in the beginning of episode 3 survived that long with just running around in circles.
Definitely David Parker (Guy from beginning of S1EP2) He seemed like a nice guy, and he either gets left behind to get eaten alive by walkers or he has to go through excruciating pain by having his leg chopped off, and then meeting the worst fate you can meet in the ZA by turning.
Nate
Interestingly Telltale originally intended for David Parker to be a determinant Mark, meaning that if you saved him, he would have lived for the rest of the episode in Mark's place.
Too bad they did not go with that, it is a pity when they cut out such branching.
He said unimportant
Police officer at start seemed pretty nice and fascinating to hear what happened he was funny and really upset could of revealed my past to me he had answers and the crash out of nowhere all so violent
Nate from 400 days? I tried my best to ditch him because he scared the hell outta me.
Think about how radically different Lee's story would have gone if the cop had just kept his eyes on the damn road. Haha!
I would say Mark if he qualifies as being unimportant enough. He seemed like a smart guy, who was a logical alternative to siding against Lilly and Kenny, who were shown to lack quality communication skills in the beginning. He and Doug were what gave me hope for our group. When Mark disappeared into the house, I was disappointed and my hopes that with his and Doug's backing, Lee could take control of the group. But that really fell apart with his death
That's not quite right.
Originally, if you left David to die (didn't chop his leg), Mark would have been killed by the arrow that otherwise hit him in the shoulder, and then it would have been David who you found legless in the house. And then if you had taken David with you, it would have played out as how it currently is in the game.
I think one of the reasons it was changed was that it didn't make sense that in one timeline, the arrow would have hit Mark in the shoulder, and in another timeline it would kill him, when nothing actually changed that would have had an affect on that.
I wonder what he saw to do this kind of face.
The juice box, I hope it returns in episode 3.
Don't tell anyone this, but I've heard that the baby actually belongs to the juice box
Does Chuck count? I lament not being able to see more of him.
I also liked a few of the side-characters in the 400 Days stories, like Roman and Leland. We don't know them for very long, but I enjoyed how they each seemed to have their own little group dynamic.
for example:
But the question was about " Unimportant " characters...not about important main characters.
Please pay more attention next time!
Chuck...the nicest oldest bastard after uncle Pete! He deserved better! He'l be missed!
Yeah but then never of met Clem. But maybe both would have lived. But then never have met clem is worth it. But would of avoided ben who in turn never met group which as result of his stupidity got them killed just opens to many questions
You´re probably right
Chuck
Chuck doesn't count, he's far more important than most people even know. It's thanks to him Clementine has short hair and is able to shoot straight. Granted I would've expected Lee to have done it sooner rather than later but if you think about it, it would've been the last chance he would've been able to.
lol no offence that's just stupid she clearly states she cheated on juicy
The SCANDAL in episode 3 with new baby ^
I meant in regards to his short amount of screen-time and barely mentioned death.
With what time he's there Chuck probably does more for Clem than half of the group did.
The unimportant character that I feel drawn to is Adam (Campman's son). I just want him and Clem to meet each other at Tavia's/Carver's camp and then become friends and then talk about what happened to their group/family. In my opinion, this would be the most interesting thing Telltale could ever do for season 2 (probably a very unpopular opinion, but I don't care. It's what I truly think). I want to see this so badly like you have no idea.
David, Travis, Irene, Beatrice, Jolene, and Roberto.
I really liked the character of Alvin in TWD, but, depending on your choices, he dies in the lodge during episode 2. his was a character who never got fully realized, the nice guy who is kind of weak willed. I wish we could've talked more with him or at least had him survive episode 2.
I felt a sense of loss at Matthew's death, despite only knowing him for a few seconds. There are so few openly and genuinely good people left in The Walking Dead.
He deserved better.
Clementine's parents Diana and Ed. The only people who were mentioned in every episode but never seen in person until their tragic zombie appearance near the end of S1 Ep5. They were great parents and when I say great I mean that they provided young Clem with the love and nurturing that helped shape her foundation as a person until everything went crazy from the ZA. Certainly two of the most important "unimportant" characters of the series just based on how much they impacted the storyline and Clem's decision making.
From the comics, Father Gabriel and Nicholas, from Telltale's... I'm not sure really. No one I suppose. Anna Correa perhaps.
Thanks for the information and keep up the good work.
(?) gd3232 will remember this.
Haha, yeah, he would've ended up at the prison.
Also Clementine would've died of starvation
That old man named Boyd in Shel's 400 days story.
He was the only one who felt genuinely bad for taking the boat from Lee & Friends. He was such a kind soul , too.
I felt like crap when I spared that bandit and he came back and killed the old man :<
Never trusting those stupid bandits again.
He saw... an urban.
oh... no...
