Your Kenny/Lilly relationship progression

edited March 2014 in The Walking Dead

Since Kenny's return, theres been a lot of Kenny and Lilly threads, Id like to hear how you came to like or dislike one or the other, or either. Now, I dont want this to be a thread about proofs about their characters, just your initial reactions to them as you first played.

My first time playing, Kenny seems all right, a fisherman, I doubted he had a higher education (the kind of people I associate with), but thats fine. He left Shawn to die, but I understood his hesitation and I think its something he could overcome.

Enter Lilly, seems like a bitch, Kenny happily engages in a yelling match with Larry. Lilly semi apologizes, slight forgiveness, still pretty "eh" on her though. Kenny berates me for not having his back (Reasoned with Larry), which really pissed me off, because from my view, I did have his back and I thought fighting Larry would be a colossally stupid idea since we dont know that the rest of THEIR group might jump in and help Larry. The rest of the episode I really disliked Kenny, in addition to him barking orders at people, then just standing at the counter.

The end of the episode, Kenny saves me at the pharmacy, so that and him being reasonably friendly at the Motor Inn put me on decent terms with him. Lilly outright thanks me for helping save Larry, which was a breath of fresh air after Kenny berated me for backing him up at the pharmacy. At this point I think Lilly might be decent person and it made me realize that in the pharmacy, she wasnt all that bad, it was all Larry. Larry though, is a bastard, but Im not going to judge Lilly based on her father's actions (I can sympathize with this point).

Queue episode 2, return to the Motor Inn. I was initially a bit wary about bringing more people back even before returning, especially knowing that we were starving from what Mark said. So Kenny and Lilly yell at eachother like idiots, makes me like neither of them.

At this point I plan on not giving Lilly or Kenny food, but I would give some to Duck. BUT, then I talk to Kenny, who berates me for not looking out for him in the pharmacy AGAIN, when I KNOW that i did back him up there. Fine Kenny, Im not looking out for you, since youve got all the right answers and know exactly what youre doing, get Duck some food yourself. I really dislike Kenny at this point, but I can live with him.

This put me in an awkward position of actually having too MUCH food, so I was thinking... Ben? But first I would talk to Lilly, who was actually able to speak to me calmly and didnt berate me for having helped her out previously. It really convinced me that the yelling match with Kenny was his fault, because she was actually civil with me, while Kenny seemed to be incapable. So that kind of erased the negative effect the yelling match had and I considered her a friend from that point on.

The meat locker scene, I was on the fence initially, I did see Kenny's argument, but I had to give Larry a chance. But of course, Kenny has no respect for my opinion whatsoever and just disregards it and does his own thing. I wasnt choked up by Larry's death, but Kenny just never listens to anything I have to say if it isnt "Yes sir, right away sir!"

Finally Ep.3, Lilly kills Doug, but in the moment I thought she only shot because Doug jumped when he saw the gun. I didnt think she was going to shoot if none of us had moved, I thought she was going to threaten Ben with the gun, but when Doug jumped, she felt threatened and just shot. I felt killing Doug was inexcusable and warranted her exile, but I was partly with her because I felt there was still a traitor in our midst and we couldnt ignore that, so I kept her with us. Stealing the RV though, deadened my feelings for her, because I would have gone with her, since Im sure as hell not sticking around for Kenny and Ben. She left because of her guilt I felt, so I dont hate her and I would be happy to see her again.

I sympathized with Kenny for a while due to Duck's death, but his grating personality just wore me down and I hated by mid Ep.4

Id like hear others interpretations as they moved through the story (holy wall of text batman!)

At first Kenny was cool guy and the Shawn thing was fine.
Lilly is mean at first but is trying to protect the group but Duck would have died if no help was given.
Larry tries to convince group Duck must be thrown out because he could be bitten.
Kenny defends him since hes his son.
Lilly silently agrees with her father but doesn't speak up.
Lilly is grateful when you get keys.
Kenny is grateful you sided with him(if you did which you should have)
Larry almost kills you but because you are a convicted killer.
    Kenny saves you.
Lilly at the end tries to console you about failing to save Carley/Doug

    Episode 2

Lilly says bringing new people in is bad.
Kenny and Lilly fight over stuff.
Gave food to Duck, Larry, Mark, and Clem. Kenny gives you pissed look because I didn't feed him but thanks you for feeding Duck.
Kenny kills Larry. And I forgive him since it was understandable but I tried to save Larry nonetheless.

Now this is how it went down for me since I saved Larry
Kenny is pissed at you for not helping him.
Kenny doesn't help you fight Danny instead just watches you fight him(I know you hate me but still? Leave me to die? Thanks bro)

    Episode 3

On the supply run Kenny gives me pissed looks.
In the drugstore door falls on me and Kenny looks back and just watches walkers squirm on top of me.
Lilly becoming scared of person stealing supplies. Wants to stay at motor inn
Kenny wants to leave motor inn.
Ah you saved Doug. I regret choosing Carley lol.
Well Lilly shot Carley but had good reason since there was a traitor and her and Ben were only suspects.
Stealing RV was a big mistake on her part but I try to understand why she did and forgive her.

Now I like both Kenny and Lilly. The only thing about Kenny though was when I tried to save Larry he decides not to help when he could have. I forgive him but he didn't forgive my Lee when it mattered most. I guess it depends if you save Larry or not but still! If I was Kenny I would have forgiven Lee if he hadn't followed my decision and saved him when Danny and walkers attacked Lee. But in the end I love them both Lilly a little more but Kenny to! Have an up vote!

  • Kenny was always 100% right and Lilly was always 100% wrong and this is objectively the truth.

If your opinion differs it's incorrect.
