Are there any choices or dialogue options that are 'off limits' for you?

I've completed TWD a few times now, attempting to give Lee/Clem different personalities each playthrough. Over time I've noticed that there are some choices and dialogue options that I can't bring myself to use, no matter how much of an jerkass my character is. Here are some examples...

  • Siding with Larry at the drugstore

  • Making Kenny kill Duck

  • Hiding the bite

  • Lying to Walt

Are there any lines that you refuse to cross? Any options that are just too brutal, cowardly or mean?

  • Can't pick any hardened/badass dialogue choices as Clem in S2.

    I just can't.

  • Yeha, I always try to be an asshole on my second playthrough, but I never can. I'm just a little inpolite...

  • Telling Vernon to do anything but walk away. Granted, I think "Walk Away" is far too aggressive, but I'm not agreeing to give Clem over to him.

  • You mean like "who's baby is it?" That one is too much fun to pass up! I've never blackmailed Alvin though.

I try not to let Clem swear too much as she hated to in season 1, the only time i chose to swear on my first playthrough was "I'm not a asshole" as it seemed like a funny response and it isn't too rude.

On my second playthrough i did make her say "holy shit" when she saw Kenny :P

In season 1 i did a asshole Lee playthrough but i could never be a asshole to Clem no matter how hard i tried.

  • Clem always gets the apple as far as I'm concerned.

  • For me I can never choose (in season 1):

    • Siding with Larry at the drug store.
    • Choosing Doug instead of Carley.
    • Siding with Lilly in every Kenny/Lilly debate (I'm either impartial or with Kenny).
    • Taking any food/drinks for myself/Lee.
    • Not letting Clem come with me to Crawford.
    • Hiding the bite.
    • Not choosing the "I'll miss you" option at the end.
    • Having Clem leave Lee as he dies instead of shooting.

There are probably a couple more I just can't remember them at the moment.

Threatening Vernon was definitely one of them. It's amazing how much an asshole Lee becomes to them at that moment.

  • I think just that I can't leave Lee to turn but apart from that no. Though several season 1 options dont make much sense.

Going with Nick = No Way. It's Pete always. Had to watch on Youtube that Nick scene.

Was never able to be blunt about Clementine's parents most likely being dead.

Always tried to mediate between Kenny or Lilly before things go to crap.

    Always brought Clem to Crawford.

Always told Clem to leave at the end, and to find Omid and Christa.

  • To be fair, Vernon had it coming. He lectures Lee about being a poor surrogate father to Clem, and then makes off with the one mode of transport that could get her safely out of Savannah. This guy was a bigger hypocrite than Richard Nixon.

  • There was a lot for me. The top one that I could never bring myself to do would probably be killing Larry.

  • I could never bring myself to tell Clem about her parents, or be mean to her in anyway. I went out of my way to do extra nice stuff for her each time I played. I also could never side against Kenny, only like one or two times (killing the screaming girl in episode 3...) Bros.

  • Anything that's not [HUG KENNY]

Those other 3 options don't exist as far as I'm concerned. :3

I'm not talking about that moment. I'm talking about the first time when you met him. I agree with you, though.

  • "You won't have Vernon to kick around anymore, because gentlemen, this is my last appearence in the series." --President Vernon resigning from his post as group leader.

  • I always bring her too! The only time I didn't, I wound up shooting Molly by accident!

  • Really? I usually choose to kill him out of concern for the group. The game does a great job of making you feel like a complete monster for it though.

  • Asking rebecca who's baby it was that first night she was in the group

  • Out of curiosity, why not let Clem shoot Lee? In my mind, it's a no win situation. Either Clem is traumatized by having to shoot you or she feels even more guilty, because she left you to turn. Personally, I tend toward having her shoot him for the sake of closure.

I agree about the food. I don't think I've ever kept the last piece.

Well out of many of them I guess

    • Not Feeding Kenny or Clem.
    • Siding with Larry.
    • Droping Ben.
    • Threaten Vernon.
    • Hide Bite
    • Blackmail Alvin.
    • Getting Nick killed.
  • Yeah, it does seem to be WAAAYY overboard to approach things like that. I like the aggressive options most of the time, but only when it makes sense.

    Just back now

Because for me never can give up hope that lee will live and in that moment actually felt like Lee in the scene once bullet shot all chances are over. Second thorough whole game never killed anyone but walkers to show Clem killing is wrong never lose your morals and I refuse to have Lee life on her conscience and lose moral I Taught her. Thirdly Save a Bullet more for herself

  • I know. I agree it had to be done but I just can't do it. It's just... Clementine is watching and killing him especially in that way was scary. I just wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing that crushed a man's head in, in front of a little girl. As Lee said in my play through "Killing is bad no matter what." Later he says he kills because it is necessary but in that situation I'm not so sure. Also the fact that it is a game and that making a major decision won't get you killed made me know that obviously no matter what decision Lee makes he will still live. But still in was the more moral thing to do even though it could get everyone killed. I hope this doesn't make me sound like a coward but its just my opinion, but hopefully those kinds of situations will never occur if a zombie apocalypse broke out.

  • I couldn't let Sam the dog suffer. Even when I was playing asshole Clementine playthrough, I just couldn't.

  • I always skip the dialogue option when pushing Clem on the swing where you tell her that she's safe at the farm.

personally, i find the idea of leaving lee to turn to be somewhat nightmarish. i made clem leave him in my first, original playthrough, but about a year or so later when season 2 came out i really thought about it and i decided to do a whole new playthrough of season 1 just because of it. it just felt so wrong leaving lee to turn into a walker, chained up to that chair, trapped in his rotting body until someone has the mercy to put him out of his misery with a blow to the head. i just can't leave him. plus, clem's dialogue when you choose the "i killed him" option when talking to luke is just so poignant

and as for season 2 i'll never be mean to rebecca or sarah, i won't leave sam the dog to suffer and bleed out, and i can't throw nick under the bus and let walter leave him to die either

there are others i can't think of right now though. it's a little hard for me to be fluid with a lot of my decisions... like i can't do predominantly asshole or scumbag playthroughs just because it makes me feel so bad. i can definitely be an asshole/scumbag to some characters that i may not like, but not to everyone for no good reason

  • The same here! I just go always with Pete, the other thing was I could not lie to Walt about who killed Matthew.....

    Season 1:

    • Being a d*ck to Clementine ( not feeding her in episode 2, not save her, letting her eat human meat etc)
    • Side with Larry at the drugstore
    • Making Kenny kill Duck
    • Dropping Ben
    • Not high five Duck (That's just cruel.)

    Season 2:

    • Be a douche to Alvin (when you look for supplies)
    • Not forgive Nick/Letting Nick die
    • Leaving the dog suffering
    • Lie to Walter
    • Not hug Kenny
    • Not distract scavangers to help Christa.
  • Siding with Kenny post Ep.1

I can side with Larry in the Drug store, only because I know what a dick hes going to be afterwards

Otherwise, I can pretty much do any dialogue choice other than that though, Ive been desensitized since I played my Silent Lee playthrough

Sitting in the jewelry store with Clem in Ep.5 saying NOTHING while shes crying was absolute torture, dont want to do that again.

There are some choices that are off limits to me.

    1. Siding with Larry (and his daughter)
    2. Choosing Doug over Carley.
    3. Killing the St. John bros.
    4. Letting Lilly back in the RV
    5. Make Kenny kill Duck
    6. Threatening Vernon
    7. Telling Clem to leave Lee and let him turn
    8. Sneaking away from scavengers and not help Christa
    9. Leaving Sam to Suffer
    10. Telling Walter Nick is like everyone else and later on cause Nick to die
    11. Letting Kenny take a shot at Carver and cause him to Kill Alvin
    12. And above all, just plainly being an asshole to people unless I think it's necessary
  • The two major ones that come to mind are leaving the kid in the attic and telling Clementine not to trust anyone. I also haven't tried appealing to Nick or Rebecca at the cabin, though I can imagine it doesn't go well.

  • GUYS STOP IM CRYING OF LAUGHTER. NO HUMAN ON THIS EARTH WHO HAS PLAYED STARVED FOR HELP DID NOT WALK THEIR ASS TO CLEM RIGHT WHEN LILY GAVE YOU THE FOOD
