"Saw it coming, still fell for it..." moment?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

Just as the title says. Have you ever had a moment in game from either season where you knew something bad would happen, but ended up falling for it anyway?

For example, in season 1, episode 4, I just knew there was a Walker hiding near Clementine's Walkie... and I still jumped in surprise when it bit Lee.

Season 2, episode 1, that damn Walker that breaks into the shed the moment you go to pick up the bandages. Figured it was just a fake out, considering they had done the exact same stunt with the water bottle and Omid's death. Nope!

What are some of your examples from the game?

The moment when Kenny returned in Season2-Episode2. I always knew that it's gonna be him, but still, them feels did hit me pretty hard!

  • simple

    hand-cuffs key dropping

  • Carley getting shot. Just as Lilly was pulling out her gun I stopped the game and proceeded to freak out lol. And I still flinched when it actually happened!

  • Lee's goddamn brother in Episode 1. I had a feeling that one chop to the neck wouldn't be enough, but then RRAAAGGHHR! he's clawing at Lee again. Makes me jump without fail.

As odd as it is, I saw Omid's death coming from the moment he walked into the bathroom in "All That Remains" of Season Two. I was still shocked that the developers actually dared to go there and flipped out by yelling "What?! Nooo!" multiple times, but the conversations, music, and everything else leading up to it helped me predict what was about to happen next.

  • Simple. Lee's death. I was kind of thinking he would make it when he cut off his arm but he still died in the end... :(

  • Them Feels hit me like a Shock wave.

  • In episode 104 when you're burying the kid in the backyard and it switches to that camera angle that shows the fence. I had a feeling they did that for a reason then the next time you drop the dirt and you see the figure standing there. The sound byte is what made me jump.

  • The St. John's being cannibals.

  • The Walker stuck in the seatbelt in episode 3.

  • Yes! same here I just knew there was something fishy as soon as I couldn't go see if Matt was alright.

  • the officer that was taking lee to prison in e-01. i knew he will turn, yet the scene freaked me out.

Going through the walkers in Episode 5. He said the plan and my reaction was between "#ForClementine!" and Omid's (forever comical) "WHAT THE FUCK?!". Then that "Armed With Death" music kicked up and the first walker fell and I was like "Well Lee? Let's go get that girl".

  • Episode 5 if you saved ben when he falls I saw it coming but still freaked out

  • In episode 3, at the train depot when Lee boosted Clem over the gate to get the key & unlock it. I KNEW something bad was in the shadows but still went into panic mode when the walker attacked with Clem trapped inside.

  • Omid's death, sort of. I mean, the timing caught me by complete surprise, but I knew that a nice, funny guy whose name means "hope" is not gonna last long in TWD universe. Quite frankly, I was absolutely sure he was gonna die in episode 5. I was so fucking pest and sad when it happened. He was one of my favourite characters.

  • I knew Walter was going to die just because he was way to nice, and when it happened it just freaked me out.

  • I sometimes still get scared when Lee opens the door before leaving the Marsh House room and then there's that walker and also when Campman randomly appears by the fence in ep. 4.

  • Damn right.

Them Feels hit me like a Shock wave.

  • Me telling Kenny to shoot Carver:

    "It'snotgonnaworkIt'snotgonnaworkIt'snotgonnaworkIt'snotgonnaworkIt'snotgonnaworkIt'snotgonnawork."

[Carver gets shot] "Woah. Did Kenny just..."

[Carver gets up and shoots Alvin] "FUCK, it didn't work!"

Nate being a psychopath. I knew he wasnt normal, yet it still creeped the fuck out of me when he tried to convince Russell to do exactly what he ran away from, totally helpless and wihout a weapon in his desperation, only to end up with another fucking psycho.

  • I always knew Lee was most likely going to die at the end but it still got me real real REAL hard.

  • I saw Kenny eyeing that saltlick,

Still hoped that things would end with everyone's head intact.

    Having to kill the dog.

    Kenny's comeback

    Carley getting shot

Larry getting a saltlick in his face even though I chose to "save" him

    The walker in the shed

    Bonnie being a baddie

    Walter dying

They all fucked me up though, except for the walker. I kicked its ass. With a hammer.

    Like a boss.

  • Kenny returning was for some reason obvious to me because of how he died off screen and his character is loved by many. Although I never loved Kenny... I did cry when he came back.

  • When Clem was procuring supplies for her surgery. She snoops around until she finds Sarah's room, slowly opens the door, and Sarah scares the living daylights out of you. Every time I play it, it still catches me off guard.
