Would you have taken the shot?

edited April 2014 in The Walking Dead

Say, you were playing as Kenny.
Carver has just taken everyone hostage.
You got the first guy in your sights, would you have fired?

Same with Carver after he grabbed Alvin.
You have Carver in your sights, would have taken the shot, or would you've given up, thinking he would just keep doing what he was doing?

I personally, would've taken the first shot.
And when Carver was using Alvin as a human shield, I probably would shot Carver as well.
The way I look at those things, you have to try, you can't just give up.

  • It's smarter just to live to fight another day in that situation. It was a no win battle.

  • I'd give up from before the first shot you may not want to give up but sometimes you just gotta accept it
Besides if carver wanted them dead he could've done it I mean they have assault rifles in the game universe those are like divine weapons
But like I said carver didn't really to start guns to their head (Walter and Alvin) until after you shoot johnny

  • Your actually quite right with your points. And giving up is not good but sometimes it might be necessary. If I was in the game I would never shoot. In real life its different, people's lives are at risk from some stranger I don't know. Of course I will try to save them thinking they would be killed anyway if I surrendered.

I remember reading a quote in a loading screen of a game.

He that fights and runs away, May turn and fight another day. But he that is in battle slain, Will never rise to fight again. --Tacitus

I believe saving someone is more important then having the chance to end your problems. Your going to need all the help you can get, as we both know you are captured either way.

A wise pig once said. "Life is better with friends Bigby. And we live a long f***ing time."

I would rather face my enemies with friends later then have both my friend and enemy dead now.

  • Hell no I wouldn't take that first shot. Blowing away some random mook accomplishes nothing, aside from most likely getting one of the hostages you're trying to rescue killed. However, if Carver had presented himself I may very well have attempted to kill him. The ring leader is much more valuable than a random grunt which is where Kenny messed up. Take out the Head Honcho and everything gets easier.

  • Under no circumstances would I take the first shot; you aim for the ringleader or you don't aim at all. Kenny managed to turn a search into a volatile hostage situation while gaining almost nothing.

The second shot was justified. Kenny was already committed at that point and it looked like a fatal shot...until Carver got up.

  • It depends on how good I am with the gun. Kenny was good enough to at least hit the person he was aiming at, so if I could do that then yeah, I'd take the shots.

I dont know maybe i would only if i knew i could kill the leader or for example, when ken shoot Carver and fell, if that hostage was someone fast like Luke, Lilly, Lee, mark maybe even Clem they could have reacted fast enough to take carver's gun and shoot him, Alvin could have done that but i don't remember if his arms were tied. But if its a situation i know i would make worse by shooting i would give up

Well yeah, Kenny hit Carver and Carver went down...then everyone else stood there for five seconds going HERPA DERRRRP? while Carver took his sweet ass time getting back up to shoot Alvin in the face.

The Season 1 group actually reacted and take advantage of opportunities when shit goes down in a hostage situation. We saw that at the Motor Inn during episode 3 with the bandits. If the proactive original g-unit were around Carver and those other two would've got tore up.

Unfortunately we have to deal with this new pussyfooting chucklefuck of a party.

  • I wouldn't have. You are fighting a battle you couldn't win, against enemies with assault rifles, and your friends as hostages. If you wanted to keep people alive, I wouldn't suggest it.
