"Just line up the sights, so the tops of these bits of metal make a straight line, then squeeze the trigger. Don't yank it. Once you run out of bullets, hit this button, the mag falls out" He demonstrated as he spoke with this part, "Then hold it, and put the next one in."
"Alright. Thanks."
"NP, MP." He said. I gave him a strange look, and then walked into Azlyn's bedroom.
She was turned towards the wall, and was silent. I heard breathing, so I knew she was alright. I walked up quietly, and gently shook her shoulder.
She then kicked me in the nuts. I fell to the ground. She was about to kick me again, saying, "I KNEW YOU'D TRY TO-" Then she stopped herself, "Wait, where's the weapon?"
As pain shot up my stomach, I said, "What the FUCK are you talking about?!"
"I thought you were gonna kill me in my sleep."
I gave a mock smile, "That's not what's happening here, buddy."
"Oh. Sorry. What do you want?"
"Gimme a minute."
"Ok. Sorry."
A couple minutes later, I stood up, and said, "We're going to find the food Awesomeo left behind."
"Oh. Alright. I'll bring you to where I found him."
"Exactly."
As we left the house, I brought out the table leg. The zombie from before with no hands was still there. He was after I was done, too. Just, he was on the floor, in a heap. I actually felt no remorse. He's a monster, not whoever he was before. I felt good killing him. Putting him out of his misery.
We walked down one of the area's many rolling hills, and I wondered if I was found on this hill, or one nearby. Not many zombies were around here. A freeway was close by, though. We steered clear. About a million and a half cars were on it, and enough zombies to fill each one. Many were still seat-belted in.
"This way." She said as she pulled me onto a fire escape ladder. We went up, and up, until we were on something like five floors, and on the roof. "This is the only way to travel around this place. Sometimes it can get kinda sketch, but it's fine."
"Holy shit,what happened to that building?" I pointed at a sky scraper that was cut off, and I could see two whole floors were on the street next to it.
"You won't believe me. A plane crashed after getting shot down by the motherfucking military. Crazy, right?"
"Yeah... Crazy." I looked at the sky scraper, and thought, What if Puncake, and the rest are up there?
After some walking in silence, we found a backpack hanging from a fire escape. A familiar backpack, no less.
"This is where I found him. Down there, in that alley."
"Oh shit."
"Let's get that backpack." I said, jumping across the alleyway, and then immediately regretting it. Knowing that he fell here, I felt like I might make the same mistake. I didn't though. I climbed down the fire escape past an old man zombie punching a window, and then I grabbed the backpack. Mission accomplished. Then, a zombie I didn't see reached through an open window and grabbed my foot. I jumped in fear, and actually tripped backwards over the railing, taking her hand with me.
HARPADARPA
WE SHOULD TALK. I'LL PUT THE GUN AWAY.
"Alright. Fine." I swung the gun back behind me. "Where were you headed?"
"Sacramento. I hear our congressmen were all here, and their secret services helped them fortify a big bit of the city. That could be our ticket out."
"My dad was in Sacramento."
"All the better, isn't it? Come on, dude, I'd like to have someone with your arsenal with me. Whaddaya say?"
"I say it sounds too good to be true." I got a 'Clint Eastwood look' on my face. At least, that's what my parents used to call it.

I looked back at the Prius. It was pretty roughed up, from running those guys over. The bumper was covered in blood, and I gotta say, it handled like shit after that happened.
