7/10 i just felt this episode had the potential to be the greatest episode of both seasons, yet they completely screwed it up, how? i don't even know, the story was perfectly set up for an epic episode but they give us crappy cameos of 400 days characters and nick/alvin get no screen tine like 10 lines through the whole episode. there is no reason for the episode to be as short as it was especially given how much time they take to releasethem, they need to delay their GoT and borderlands series and focus on the main game they are working. they would have been better off not mentioning the new series until after these seasons were over so then they could start working on them.
9/10. It's not perfect, but easily the most tense and disturbing episode so far. There was an overwhelming sense of dread hanging through the entire episode. Even if you play her as a gentle, caring person; Clementine is likely going to be changed a great deal by the horrors she witnessed at that camp.
9/10 - Despite the minor flaws like lack of 400 Days cast interaction (though, I'm pretty sure that'll be fixed in the 4th episode), 90-100 min playtime, not enough actual gameplay (stolen from KatiexGreen), and the unanswered questions, this was one of the most intense episodes yet! I absolutely loved it. Hope it gets better as the next two episodes roll out.
Honestly it's up there with my top experiences in a game of all time. All the way through I was like, "no way" and "oh damn!". It really was better then I thought it would be... The suspense and tension throughout was brilliant!
For me it's a definite 10/10 (It's up there with Season 1 Episode 2!)
I'd give it a 7 or an 8, there are a lot of threads on here with people tearing this episode and telltale a new one,
and i do agree with most of them, no hubs, 400 days no more than cameos, carvers compound lack of exploration, lack of actual gameplay, lack of character development for certain characters (Reggie is a prime example, guy has like 20 minutes of screen time, we only speak to him twice and then he dies, while it was sad it just didn't have any emotional punch which could have been different if we could actually speak to him, learn a bit about him etc) , carver being a disk one final boss, Luke being useless and determined characters having next to nothing to do with the plot, etc.
But i still really enjoyed this episode, as much as i was disappointed with this episode it was still really enjoyable and far far far from a bad or terrible episode. I loved clem's character development, Kenny being a bad ass (Gavin Hammon was fucking amazing this episode) Alvin's last stand, Jane and Mike ( I like them both but i really like Mike, I don't know why but i think he has real potential to be a memorable character, Really hope they don't kill him off for shock value before he can be developed) Bonnie redeeming herself, Looking after Sarah ( I might be one of the few to actually like her) Etc.
tl;dr While i have many problem with this episode they did not detract from my enjoyment of it and i eagerly await the next episode.
:)
A very solid 9. My only gripe was the lack of interactivity in the first half-hour. Felt like I was watching an interactive movie with dialogue choices, not playing a game.
"Telltale really does code the releases as they go, rather than developing them first and then releasing them, so they can incorporate feedback into the releases."
The Walking Dead is my first Telltale experience, and I noticed that in Season 1. I play on PC using an xbox 360 controller. The controls in the first three episodes are rather clunky and I was forced to move my left hand on the right analog stick to be able to make the proper cursor movements with the "A" button as the trigger. This feels completely unnatural and slightly broke immersion.
With Episode 4, RT becomes an alternative, so I don't need to move my left thumb off of the left analog stick.
I also like the "red arrows" for movement in action scenes in Episode 2. This makes the action scenes more fluid :)
Telltale really does code the releases as they go, rather than developing them first and then releasing them, so they can incorporate feedba… moreck into the releases. The reason this takes longer to develop than Telltale's games without choices is because of all the branches. All of the branching storylines require code to hook them together. Then you add in the story choices that require different characters to show up based on choice, and you have to hook them together too. It's a very complicated code system that requires more time than something that's not choice based. Coming from the perspective of having written code myself, considering all of the branches in these games (including the story branches), two months is actually a pretty impressive feat.
Well to be fair 400 days is just a way to squeeze in some additional characters and give them a backstory so they wouldn't have to build them up during season 2. It was pulled off well enough, in my opinion.
8/10 All things considered, I liked it. What it does, it does effectively.
The problems I've had with the season as a whole resonate strongly at this point, and although it was filled with tension and potential for hard choices, few choices really matter and one is even made for you (granted, the impact of that scene is to be considered). If branching was an argument for this season's lack of other things, I feel like it's sort of rendered moot by this episode's events..
What do I *like*? Well, our female cast got some pretty good moments throughout. Not as many as I would have wanted, but I hardly get that these days.
Sarah and Clementine are important, although I wish she had started to be more relevant early on, instead of just "suddenly" this episode.
Rebecca still forgets that you potentially threatened her a week ago, but gosh, did she play a role in this one. With all that's happpening to the poor woman and the situation they are in, I finally found the character behind the stereotype, and about time. :)
Sarita could use some more, and it's a shame that she seems to be dead meat (Become determinant, dear children, and you might as well start digging your grave). Hope I'm wrong.
Bonnie is a highlight in this one. She really struggles with her perception of what she has helped create and the man she respects, and yet is not really there. She is sympathetic towards the group and to our girl, and I no longer wish to put a bullet between her eyes. That's a compliment.
Last, but not least: Clementine. I'm 50/50 on Clem this episode. On one hand, her scenes with Carver and dat climax really explore who she is and is becoming in a fascinating -and to some- scary. On the other hand, she is the errand girl that just sometimes talks to the people in her group.
Oh, and Carver's death? Catharsis made flesh (literally).
The Video Game is set in the same universe as the Comics, and Glenn from the game is the same Glenn from the comics. It was already confirmed. Lilly was supposed to have been Lilly Caul from the comics, but due to the game coming out too late and Lilly's back story book having been released, it broke canon so they reverted it.
Glenn however, is the same Glenn. This is why we will never see him again, because long before the current day in time line (About day 800), Glenn would have already been murdered by Negan.

My reasonings are everything people have already said.

Thankfully,I decided to plow through all of the comics in one sitting during the wait between Season 1 to Season 2.
But other than that, I loved it!

A GODLIKE BEARD OUT OF 10!
but ttg needs to work on better previews..
It did its job, and well. That's not to say it could've been better though.
