Has there ever been a character as genuinely kind as Walter?
Having played video games for almost 2 decades, I can't remember meeting a character and almost immediately thinking how good of a heart they have. When a group of strangers were skeptical and wouldn't put down their guns, he quickly announced that they were guests and they wouldn't have to worry about any violence. His communication with Clementine reminded me of a former school teacher I once had who loved his profession. In his brief time in the game, he never once uttered anything negative about any of the characters, and was quick to defend Kenny's short temper.
To me, his ability to not only forgive Nick, but save him, was the icing on the cake. Carver shooting Walter was perhaps the most shocking death for me, and I found myself being affected by that scene later on in the episode. In fact, that was the sole reason I stuck around to watch Carver get beaten to death by Kenny.
So with all of that in mind, I think the question is a relevant and interesting one: Who so far has been the most kind character in the game? Lee is an easy answer, but I was thinking more sub-characters and those who were perhaps only around for a brief time (Shawn Greene is another one that comes to mind). I'm sticking with Walter, what about you guys?

Walter is well the nicest character. Would let him take care of Clementine for sure.
Which is one of the big reasons why watching Carver get his skull and brain crushed was one of the most satisfying moments for me in this Season.
Yes there is also Matthew but Nick killed him.
Chuck he gave good advice and sacrificed himself for Clementine
Pete was pretty nice (I know guys, such a shocker coming from me). Doug is another one. He's up there, but I don't think we've ever met someone as kind as Walter. The dude was just awesome.
Despite how briefly we knew him, his death probably got to me more than pretty much anyone else this season. He was just an unconditionally good guy and deserved so much more.
Does Duck count? Though I may be biased because he thinks I'm incredibly awesome.
Katjaa
true, Matthew made an impression of being as nice as walter in the short time we saw him
Brenda, The Stranger. Larry.
In all seriousness though - Katjaa.
Omid was nice.
In my experience, most videogame characters are often violent individuals.
They have tough, arrogant attitudes, and even though they may do a kind deed towards another character, they're mainly concerned about themselves.
So to answer your question, generally no.
However, there have been a few exceptions, in my opinion, like the following...
Lee, was a genuinely nice character.
At least he can be, depending how he's played.
Kenny, even though he has his rough spots, like everyone else, is also a genuinely good character.
After all, look how he tried to rescue Ben, even though Ben killed his family.
Even though he was unable to save him, he still made the effort.
And how about trying to save the group, when Carver took them hostage at the lodge.
Not to mention the horrendous beating he took to protect Clementine.
Chuck also.
He shared what he had with the group, the candy and the whiskey.
He offered Lee some practical advise, on how to help Clementine protect herself, and later fend for herself if necessary.
And he saved Clementine's life.
It's a shame he died so soon.
I was honestly hoping, when playing season 1, that he'd make it to season 2.
And I will admit, even though I felt Walter could be a bit gullible at times, he still had a good heart.
I say gullible, because how he acted towards Bonnie.
Not feeling a need to check Bonnie for any weapons she could've been carrying, was to me foolish.
At least take sensible precautions before you let a stranger into your home, especially in a world like TWD.
But I digress.
I'd also say Bonnie is a genuinely nice and good character.
As I watched her, I could tell she fell in with the wrong crowd.
The fact that she fell under Carver's spell, is not all that surprising.
After all, inspite of his murderous nature, he still had a strong charisma about him.
Anyway, when you consider how protective she was of Clementine, plus seeing to it that Clementine was as comfortable as possible, shows she has a good heart.
And the fact she stopped Carver from probably beating Kenny to death, shows that she has a strong sense of morality.
Omid and Katjaa seemed kind. I feel Clem would be as kind too if it weren't for the stuff she has been through. :l
Doug didn't say much but...he was kind....but wasn't wise as Walter. Doug was like Omid really. Didnt start any fights with any group members.
Not sure how I forgot giving the excess food to Bonnie as well. And then when she asks how she could repay him, he simply tells her to help another person in return. Here's my favorite Walt quote. During his conversation with Clem:
"They say the world is over, but I'll tell you a secret: it's not. People are more political now than they ever were before. In the end, we can't change the world. All we can do is continue to learn from each other; to empathize and use our heads... In any case, the point is: as long as we have our wits about us, we can always make the right choice. Right?"

Glenn was probably the nicest next to Matthew and Walter.
Reggie.
I dont know if there's a person on earth as kind as him. I would say, to a fault. He trusted the wrong people and died for it.
Anyone that nice is already dead how they lasted that long I have no idea
Clementine is pretty nice isn't she? In my playthrough, outside of getting sassy with Carlos, she hasn't said anything that could be deemed hateful or mean. Does talking back to Carver count as well?
I think so too! Chuck was also a gentle person, I remember to this day. during my gameplay in S01 when Clem told me that Chuck had said she would die just like Duck. a rage grew inside me immediately, so when I went to talk to him. I was surprised and disarmed by his wise words. the old man was right.
It made me admire him deeply!
R.I.P Chuck. : (
Should I make a poem for Chuck now lol I just got a good idea
Chuck is love Chuck is life
Definitely! ;D
i guess Walter was too good for the world of the walking dead
Larry, duh
Katja
Give me like half an hour or so then
I think the nicest person wasn't a person, it was the walker who killed Brie... Fuck Brie -_-"
Fuck! I wrote it all out then it got deleted
. Guess I have to do it again
I would agree that Walter was proably the kindest character in TWD so far.. But, as we saw, most of all the kind character's we've met are dead. Just seem's to me that kindness is not a trait one would really want to survive in this world.
Ok finally! Here we go
Chuck, when I saw you first you scared the shit out of me.
And I think also a little out of Lee.
You shared all that you had.
Because of you no one was sad.
Katjaa wanted you to stay and now I know why.
Because Chuck, you're one hell of a guy.
You said you were homeless but.
You found a home with us.
That was until Duck got sick.
And we took care of it real quick.
Then you said to my Clem that she was gonna die.
"Oh Hell No!" I said. Let me talk to this guy.
I was furious, I wanted you dead!
I was so mad, I wanted your head!
But then I slowed down and heard you out.
And in the end I still had some doubt.
But you were right and I was scared to admit.
That Clem would die because I didn't teach her shit.
So I did what you said to do.
You had wiseness inside you.
We got to savannah and it's something you see.
"Ask not for whom the bell tolls," you say, "It tolls for thee!"
As we turn around there is a hord of THEM.
Where the hell was Clem!?
I saw Clem and Ben get surrounded.
But I was frozen in fear, grounded.
But you stepped up when Ben pussied out.
And then you started to shout.
"I'll be fine, JUST GO!"
And we did just so.
You escaped to the sewers to avoid them.
You risked your life for Clem.
But there were walkers there too.
And there was nothing you could do.
You used all your bullets except one.
And you realized your life was done.
So you put it to your head, right on the side.
You pulled the trigger, and then you died.
Chuck I was your number one fan.
Lee said it best, "You deserved better old man."
Once again it doesn't let me post stanzas -_-"
Katjaa and Omid were both kind. They both genuinely cared for Clem just like Walter did and they never tried to harm anyone.
Katjaa. Walter nearly killed Nick.
I can see your comments!
loved the poem!
Thanks
Type space twice after each line and it will let you do stanza. Like so:
This
is
to
show
you
that
it
works.
There are a LOT of characters I could argue are genuinely kind, but Walter's kindness really shows through his actions, whereas a lot of characters who I believe are truly kind have also done something questionable things. Barring the determinant scene where he lets Nick get bitten (which I personally refuse to consider canon sorry it's just not), he's nothing but sincerely good-hearted and giving. .
I see that some people are saying "I would totally let him take care of Clementine!".
Being nice isn't safe, not being safe is stupid, and stupid gets you killed.
Think about it, she's more likely to survive on Carver's good side than on any side of Walter's. Sorry guys, but you know it's the truth.
