Has there ever been a character as genuinely kind as Walter?

  • I swear, you are the only person I've seen on here hate Brie as much as I do.

I think the nicest person wasn't a person, it was the walker who killed Brie... Fuck Brie -_-"

  • So nice, kind-hearted, charm came out of his ass, what was not to like?!

    Larry, duh

  • No offense, but that reminds me to much of that weird Kenny forum.
And I found that forum to be highly disturbing.

  • Yeah.
Inspite of the fact that he wanted to throw Duck out, after falsely presuming he was bitten.
Tried to kill Lee, after Lee got him his pills.
And continually berated and bullied everyone around him, including his own daughter.

Guess Brenda St. John was right, "He's just a big old sweetheart!"

  • Well she survived with Lee (well everyone else died....but still) and with Christa and Omid. If you stay much with Carver, you will be like Reggie.

  • Mark was a pretty nice and useful dude, especially in contrast to Walter, who was also nice, but not as useful.

There is no canon game play. Each person has their own story and choices. Its like saying everyone saved Ben because him surviving is the majority of the choice. Doesn't matter how big or small the amount its still a choice and varies from person to person.

  • It's not that no one liked her because she was a contest winner, no one liked her because she was a bitch and tried to get Vernon to kill Lee. She automatically assumed he was from Crawford.

    Nobody liked the contest winner

  • Lee, Christa and Omid are different. They taught Clementine how to survive in the first place. It's a matter of being safe, and you're safe on Carver's GOOD SIDE. Reggie is a completely different story, Carver explained why he killed him, and how he was weak of character and all that. Reggie was nice, but he wasn't smart.

  • I'm aware of that. I was being facetious because I just really like Nick. Kind of assumed most people wouldn't take those comments seriously, but sarcasm tends to be difficult to detect over the internet.

  • I think there have been a few kind characters. Chet (remember him?), Mark, Katjaa, Chuck, Omid, Matthew seemed nice (even though we only got to talk to him for a little while), and I think Bonnie is kind in some ways but that's a matter of opinion. Walter was definitely one of the kindest characters. Kind of a shame that we didn't get to see that much of him. It was really a shock for me when Carver shot him, it seemed like Walter had so much character potential.

  • Thanks :)

  • Mark, Katjaa, Omid, and Matthew. Also Clementine.

  • Walter was great, it's a shame he had to die so soon. You need an optimistic character like him in order to make sure the series isn't constantly depressing.

  • No, it isn't the end all-be all truth, it's just a possibility that depends entirely on one's actions. Walter got killed because an asshole shot him in the head by random chance. That's not a case of nice doing you in. And no, trusting Bonnie didn't get him killed either, because she was going to lead Carver there anyways, and even said he didn't have to give her food, because it didn't matter in the long run. Maybe shooting her on sight would have prevented what happened (and even then, only temporarily) but not even Kenny was advocating that.

In actuality, despite this philosophy being repeated ad infinitum, there aren't actually that many cases of nice characters dying because they were nice. They die because of bad luck or situations beyond their control, usually through the actions of another.

Being nice is dangerous, sure, that much is certain. But guess what? Being a jackass is just as dangerous. You don't see Carver walking around anymore, do you? How about those people of his, trapped in a building by a herd? How about the St. Johns? How about the bandits? All dead, or have lost the strength they once had, because doing horrible things to survive makes enemies of the people around you, and the more you do that, the closer you get to paying the price for your misdeeds.

    Satisfying in which sence?

Which is one of the big reasons why watching Carver get his skull and brain crushed was one of the most satisfying moments for me in this Season.

  • Troy didn't fuck up. Putting a 'ding' in Carver's door was due to the breaks. Other than that, Carver knows how Troy is. He knows Troy isn't nice, or caring.

Alvin, again, he was nice. But he wasn't smart.

That last part I have no idea what you're even talking about.

  • I know this sounds fucked-up, but watching him die just felt...good. He put us all through a lot of shit.
