Jake and Sean are making a new game (Firewatch) with their new company (Campo Santo Games). You could think of that as an attempt at proving that they're the actual game design heroes. And STILL I don't see many Walking Dead fans leaving the zombie stories for them.
Really I think that's why season 2 will never be as good as 1 was, none of the others could carry it on as well and maybe they couldn't either but I guess we will never know.
I feel like I'm beating a dead horse by mentioning this but reintroducing hubs would really fix the development problem. But who knows. The … morefirst three episodes could be buildup for two fantastic episodes where we get to learn about the characters. Rebecca will soon have her baby, Kenny will be dealing with possibly losing another loved one, Luke may have to deal with Nick's death. Kenny's presence is a contrast to Luke's and the conflict set up between them will definitely be touched on in the next episode. This could also serve for some development for Luke.
We'll also have Sarah who is dealing with the loss of her father. How she responds to this tragedy and major change in her life is one of the biggest questions right now.

Sometimes beating a dead horse can act as a drum-beat for the dissatisfied.
