Theories on Mike?

Okay, so I have an interesting theory about Mike that may be a little weird, but just something that I've noticed.

In a few shots when you see the one side of his head, take a look at his ear.

Part of it is missing.

I wanted to bring this up because I am really curious about this observation!
Maybe Mike is supposed to resemble Mike Tyson, the boxer (I think) that had his ear bitten off?
What's your story behind Mike? Post in the comments, I'd really like to hear what you think!

  • A raccoon bit it off when he was five years old.

Kidding. I don't really know. I've wondered this too.

  • I think Mike was in a group before and they got raided by numerous bandits (Remember S1EP3?) and one bandit nearly sniped Mike in the head but it

grazed his face and made him lose his ear.

or alternatively, what if he did something wrong to Carver and Carver tortured him to the point of his scars now. (Like Mr. Blonde)

    what do you think?

  • Probably was shot off during the apocalypse. Im hoping he survives the gunfight and tells us of a similar fight that resulted in his ear being shot.

  • Wow, I've never thought of the Carver theory before! I like it! :)

  • He was captured by the St. Johns, and they ate his ear before he could escape. On the way out, he broke the swing. BAM!

  • Thanks.

  • Well, there goes my discussion for the broken swing in S1EP2.

Breaking cannibal swings and losing ear since 102.

  • When Mike was pulling the rope so clem could get to the roof in S203, he claimed Troy or one of the others were coming back to check up on them, and told clem to grab onto something, note that we didn't see anyone come OR hear someone coming, so Mike lied to Clem

    MIKE WAS CARVER ALL ALONG!

JK, maybe Mike will live....or die.......he's probably going to die anyway

  • I really hope Mike lives through Episode 5!!

  • Mike was shot in the head.

The bullet didn't kill Mike. Mike killed the bullet.

I think Mike used to be in the military.
Just judging by the self discipline he seems to posses, and ability to keep calm, "when under fire," so to speak.
Not to mention his pros as a fighter.

I see him, after leaving as the army, becoming a pipe fitter,( which is a very physically demanding job).
And keeping himself in shape with vigorous exercise.
Just judging by his being able to carry those huge water jugs for over a mile, without breaking a sweat.
Judging by the size of those jugs, I'm guessing they could've been 20-40lbs a piece.
Not just anyone could carry that kind of weight for that long.

No to mention, Mike appears to be somewhere around his early 30's, and is therefore still in his prime.
So he'll be capable of greater physical feats!
As a young man, he'll be one the best guy to have beside you in a fight.

  • It be interesting if he was in the military.

I think he also coulda been a cop.

  • still in his prime in his early 30's? man, that makes me feel better being 30. I've been reading the "A song of Ice and Fire" series, and everyone is like 18 in their prime. haha! also, can't f'n wait for the telltale "game of thrones" game to be released.

that said, what if Mike turns out to be Lee's cousin or something, or nephew? you never know! but, that seems a tiny bit racist, seeing how the only other black guy in the game "might be related" to the only other black guy in the game (Lee). I think mike is awesome, and I really hope he makes it out of the firefight alive, but I have a strong feeling, he is deader than Lee is at this point... bummer...

  • Pretty sure it's splinters origin story

  • I must say, I find the idea of kids thinking 30 is old, to be ridiculous.
As well as 18 year old's thinking they're in the prime of life.

At 18, a kid is just beginning to learn about life.
Often times, they have very little idea about how life works.

And at 30, a man has a few years under their belt.
They have some experience, maturity, better- sounder judgement, and yet, still have their youth.
So whoever says 30 is old, is sadly mistaken.

  • Mike was a volunteer fire fighter before the outbreak, and got hurt in a fire. For some reason he reminds me of a firefighter.

Looks like a knife did it, kinda like Andrea in the comics.

  • Thanks for the laugh. XD

  • Mike's ear was part of a covert experiment to create the perfect ear. Able to pick up sounds from up to thirty miles. But it went wrong when the ear started thinking for itself. And as for the rest, ever seen Evil Dead?

  • That movie is older than i am.

  • Still a classic ahead of it's time, truly a masterpiece.

  • Evander Holyfield was the boxer who had part of his ear bitten off. Mike Tyson did the biting. Tyson is also crazy, a thug, and a convicted rapist, so unless the game Mike is supposed to take a seriously dark turn, I don't think he's meant to remind us of Tyson.

Mike's scar almost certainly happened after the apocalypse. Look at how gruesome it is. Or maybe he refused to call the paramedics and avoided hospitals when he got the wound for some reason? Clem's dog bite would probably end up looking better than his cheek.

  • Surprised the Mike=Ralph theory hasn't been brought up yet. The theory is that Mike was the bandit with the hood in the first episode, and the gunshot was Christa shooting part of his ear off.

  • They have different voices and they don't look the same.

  • I don't necessarily agree with the theory, just throwing it out there.
