Swiss cheese graphics problems

edited March 2009 in Game Support
I just tried the demo and it is totally pixelated. Characters look like swiss cheese. Is there a way to correct this? Thanks.

Hey Auntie, I'm not exactly sure what's wrong, but could you take a screenshot for us? Does adjusting the graphics settings make a difference? Also, what are your system specs?

I used Revo to uninstall the game then dumped the demo. Then I downloaded a fresh demo and reinstalled it. No change. I have a screen capture but don't know how to send it to you.

I'm not from Telltale, but it would be really helpful to tell them what graphics card/chip you have and if you use a recent driver.

If you don't know and don't know how to find out:
Click with the right mouse button on the desktop and choose 'properties'.
In the new window choose the 'settings' tab. There you click on 'advanced'.
In the new window choose the 'graphics card' tab. There you can read the name of your card. Click on 'properties' and choose the 'driver' tab in the new window. There you see the 'driver version'.

Some of the terms may not be the precise ones of your windows. I'm using Win XP in german and just translated them.

Thank you, Quanta. I did as you instructed and on my XP computer I have a GeForce 750 LE graphic card. The driver is version 8.3.9.3 and is dated 04/19/06. I went to the NVidia web site but cannot find this card on their list so I am not able to update. Maybe I just don't know what to look for.

Are you playing the demo for Wallace and Gromit? If so, did you try fiddling with the graphics quality? That helped with me.

Hey Auntie, for the screenshot, you can open up MsPaint and paste the screenshot (ctrl-V should work if you just took it). Then you can save it out and attach it to the thread by clicking the little "insert image" button.

As for your hardware stuff, could you go to your Start menu, go to Run, and type in dxdiag for me? Then hit enter, which will bring up a new window. In that window go to the Display tab. Then just cut and paste everything from the Device and Driver sections into a post. Hopefully from there I will be able to track down a new driver for you.

All this said, that's a pretty old video card I'm afraid, and we may not be able to do much to improve things for you. But I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet.

Hmmm. That doesn't look right. But my little image doesn't have a URL.
What am I doing wrong? I clinc on the 'insert image' button and get a URL request. I've been in a drag 'n drop world too long. Help!

hah, whoops, I told you wrong on the screenshot. When making a new post, click Go Advanced and use the little paper clip icon to attach the image. One last thing I forgot to ask: are you on a laptop?

Assuming you *aren't* on a laptop, you can try installing these drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_182.08_whql.html. Just download the file and run it.

Here is the screen shot. Thanks for the driver link. I will get that and see what happens. Again, thank you.

Thank you Will (and all who helped me with this). The update for the graphics card did the trick. It never occurred to me that a card was old after two or three years. I do appreciate the time you've given me. Auntie
