Ofc you get that damn consol for almost free?
I get the damn console for a few hundred dollars, actually. Maybe less if it's one that I picked up much later, but generally in the realm of 2-5 hundred dollars, not counting accessories. This is no small sum.
seriously is the gaming market only filled with cheap *** sorry, but seriously, people want everything without paying anything
Nah, I want to pay what they charge. If they really do undercut their consoles, that's their problem. That's their business model. I'm sure Microsoft and Sony will survive. The Gates kids aren't exactly starving.
ofc consoles games are expensive, MS - Sony and so on, they loose money giving you consoles the first many many years, if they had to make a profit on selling consoles they would have to charge 2 if not 3 times as much as they cost.
I think you're buying into marketing shill, personally. Even if they do undercut the price, it's because they expect to get it back overall. If a small group can benefit from a lower price while the rest of the market makes the platform a success, then why not? Besides, that's how an economy works. The company needs to adapt to the demands of the consumer, not the other way around!
They survive by taking profit of the games.
Well actually, Microsoft survives by making billions by keeping a near-monopoly on the computer operating system market. Sony survives by selling televisions and Blu-Ray players that cost hundreds or thousands. Nintendo survives by making a game machine that appeals to a broader audience that makes a nice profit for every system sold.
Dont be so cheap. Gaming is a hobby, and hobbies cost money.
Everything costs money. If you can legally get it cheaper with the same features, there is no reason to not go for it.
Dont take my word for it, it was sony i think that was out and say it was a problem that you consol users sell the games after one playthrough.
Corporate greed does not equal market need.

In other news steam does have what? 20 million users now. Atleast put the game out the same time on steam. Never loosing ones game again, because of bad quality DVD/CD or because ones harddrive blows up or you loose it.
Somehow, I doubt you'll absolutely need to re-install a Telltale game more than 20 times because your hard drive blew up.
I think most people that hate steam are those with little to no knowledge about computers (PC) or with slow connection, but that is not Steams fault.
I know that sometimes I can look at the price in other places and not get locked into the full MSRP. What else am I missing, friend?
Myself i can download any game within a hour, most take 1-10minutes.
    Well isn't that nice.
Like it or not Steam or other steam like programs are the future. and i mean omg my steam program takes 0-1% Cpu power and a total of 28mb ram ouch.
Like it or not, you don't determine the future. Like it or not, the PC is an inherently open platform. Like it or not, Steam is just another venue amongst at least hundreds of others across the internet. And, like it or not, even Valve has to release its games to retail to get the Wal-Mart exposure.

It is still a good service though, especially for multiplayer games, but the prices are shit unless you live in US or UK.
Even in the UK it's bogus; take Street Fighter 4:

Steam - 37.99 EUR, currently discounted to 34.19 EUR
Amazon.co.uk - 17.96 UKP (or roughly 21 EUR) plus a bit of shipping, or 23.49 EUR at Play.com with free shipping

    WTF?

(Yeah, I buy games on Steam on occasion when they're discounted, like the Orange box for 9.99 EUR, but if I can get the game elsewhere for so much less and in physical form I'll gladly buy there...)

np: Evil Nine - The Wait ft. David Autokkatz (They Live!)

No. And that's the reason for it. I have hundreds of Game-Cds flying around here. And I hate it. Especially starting from the time started to save money on the packaging of the games. I really love my old boxes that included great manuals and extra stuff. When I bought Monkey Island I thought the codewheel was a funny extratoy until I started the game for the first time.

btw: I absolutely love the Sam & Max Season 2 case file.

Another great plus on steam is that I can get the english version of almost every game without having to import them.

Couldn't agree more. STEAM is the only way I game anymore. I have so many stacks of cd cases and manuals laying around it's ridiculous. Like you, been gaming since the 80's. PC gamers are gonna have to get used to STEAM eventually the way DD is moving along. Not to mention, the service is outstanding.

I'll be waiting for the STEAM release here

ps..love Impulse as well, but they really need to expand their catalog

Steam is not the be all and end all of downloadable pc gaming.

I'm surprised that I've really warmed up to Steam since I ALWAYS like to have the physical package to a game, but I really do like being able to install it on any computer to access my games without the CD’s or dealing with activations codes, etc. If it weren’t for Telltale's bonuses and the fact that I know Telltale gets a smaller cut from the sale, I would only buy the games off Steam. But I like supporting the company that brings me all these awesome games directly.

Yup me too, as well all my steam buddies.
We are all waiting for the Steam release, and that only.
As hard as it may be for some of you to comprehend, (some more than others it seems) for a lot of people (myself included) it is Steam or nothing.
My money is waiting for you Telltale, the second it appears on Steam you have a purchase.

^ Don't you know how retarded that sounds? "Steam or nothing"?!

I've come to greatly dislike the attitude of some of you Steam advocates out there. There's just some (in fact, many) people out there who won't touch Steam with a ten-foot pole. Get over it. Why take it so personal, it's just a digital distribution service.

I have steam, yes i do wish this would have come out on steam at release date. Does it bother me? No, i have pre-ordered TMI and at a later date i will buy it on steam, just like i have re-bought some of the games a actually own already. Some may think im an idiot for doing it but so be it. :D

I never use steam but I do use Direct2Drive, the prices there are at least a bit more reasonable than on steam, and once downloaded the games work fine
Downside is that they don't have a lot of games, and often they don't sell to europe, but in the few cases they do it's worth it

lol why do you take it so personal, we did not start a crusade against steam, you did, nobody knows why your so angry and we dont want to know it, i didnt start the steam is bad steam is good fight, i only asked if they could start preorders on steam too!

i like steam but i dont understand why you try to change my opinion, i wont dislike steam just because you dont! who said "steam or nothing", nobody said that, its just your imagination, again all we asked is that telltale sells the game on steam too, not because we like steam, but because we like the fact that we can have all our games on one account instead of having dozens of accounts spread all over the web in different shops.

Steam died for me with their stupid and greedy new pricing policy. I'll never ever buy anything there unless it's a real bargain.

Neither did I. I was just voicing my opinion (although the choice of words may have been ill-advised, I'll admit).

I wasn't trying to change anyone's opinion. It's just a matter of personal preference.

ok i did wait long enough, i will preorder the game in the telltale shop, their not gonna release it on steam, at least not as preorder, very sad! i dont understand why they did not acceppt preorders through steam, i bought all telltale games there, i have every episode of every telltale game that was released until today and bought them all on steam, why not mi :(

its the first game i dont buy from steam during the last three years, i really dont like it, but im a bigger mi fan then im a steam fan, i just hope hope they gonna allow customers to activate their copies on steam, as i said i dont want to have my games spread on multiple shops, i like having all my games ready to play on steam

    this guy

    just sayin' is all.

oh now i understand, what he wanted to say is that he would buy it from steam or he wont, i can understand him i think almost the same, if a game isnt sold through steam i dont buy it ... BUT he didnt say we want games to be released only through steam, i think people should buy their favorite games where they want to, i personaly prefer steam thats why its alsways sad when i game i would buy is not sold through steam, cause this means i wont buy it (see post above, the only exception i will make is for tales of monkey island, cause im a big fan, but thats it, every other game will have to come to steam or i wont buy it)

what i still dont understand is why you think this is wrong?

no you wont be able to download the dvd, because its a plastic disc, it wont fit through your phone line!

Personally I don't have a problem with Steam, but because Telltale get all of the profits from sales on their website (unlike with Steam I believe) I think it's unfair to ask them to share their pre-order deal with Steam. They're a business, first & foremost and so you can't blame them for wanting to get the most they can get for their games - at least to start with.

I think a preorder should have been on steam, but not with the bonuses.

They lose 30% I believe, the indy creator of Aquaria said that on his forums.

I got it off the site only for the bonuses, I actually felt safer getting it off steam, but I was won over by the box art.
