Apparently there were going to be 5 playable protagonists - my guess is that Sasha, Vaughn and perhaps Yvette were playable before they were relegated to supporting roles.
Point is, Vaughn's who you oughta look to if you're talking about 'wimpy protagonists'. Rhys is a jack-ass (hur hur) but he's already got quite an impressive trail of murders on his hands.
Dude you just played the first episode and you considered him as the worst protagonist ever due to the fact he's a wimp? Wait until the next 4 episodes are released then you're allowed to give your opinion about Rhys.
Rhys is amazing. After playing like extreme badasses like Bigby and Lee, its sorta nice playing as someone who usually can't kick ass without help. I also find him to be hilarious and I can relate to him on a lot of levels :P

I kinda like the fact that he isn't the classic hero/protagonist figure that has been done over 7 trillion times. Rhys is just 'some guy' that I can relate to who just so happens to get involved in some mess. I don't think Rhys not being the text book protagonist character isn't necessarily bad. At least for a story with a tone like this.
Wait, wait, wait, so let me get this straight. You're calling this guy a wimp? This guy, Rhys? This dude just friggin' crossed his god damn superior, killed a whole darn village, (albeit he was using a Loader Bot) got blacklisted, got through a bunch of psycho freaks, faced a huge god damn Skag, killed him with Zero's sword, survived that and uncovred an old secret den. This guy defenitely is not a wimp.
I'd say he's simply out of his element. Is he though inelegant and kind of unprepared for what's to come? Sure, but that absolutely does not make him a wimp. More of an underdog, or a dark horse if you will.

Rhys is a slimy corporate douche.
He's not a likable person.
The thing is, can he be MORE than that?
It's an interesting question.
… more
I mean, he has to be a little Patrick Bateman-ish if he admires Handsome Jack. Who is Steve Jobs meets Hitler.

Yeah, he used the Loader bot to take out MOST of the men.
He only used his shitty electric lightsaber Baton. But I still consider this guy fucking awesome. And hilarious if I must say.
Without the bot, his head would be on a stick, and his body stuffed with knives and items.
People call CJ a whiny bitch??? Since when?
The game is meant to be comedic like the original Borderlands games. His character perfectly fits the world it's set in.

HAIL RHYS!

Some people just aren't cut for the Borderlands, they'd rather live on boring old Earth instead.
The fact that Rhys is clearly not a badass like Bigby and Lee, makes his badass moment all the more badass.

Bokor, the five playable protagonist thing is for Game Of Thrones.
I hated Patrick Bateman. I see the same with Rhys. A 1900s snob but unlike Bateman, Rhys is a wimp. A yuppie too.
