Excuse me, but there's a difference between respecting someone's right to an opinion and not thinking someone is bad for having a certain opinion.
To take an example, say someone says 'I think we should kill all black people'. That is an opinion. Do you think it's unfair to say we don't like the person for having that opinion, i.e. judging them?
If you don't respect my opinion, then you don't respect me. By not respecting me, I don't respect you.
If you want to think that and go all 'judgy' fine by me. It's just not going to help you through life.
Fan Fiction is pretty much a joke to me, usually me and my friends will look some up and read it aloud to laugh at it. Everything about it is really bad, the writing, the grammar and usually the authors story is just pretty cringe-worthy overall.
I suppose you have different reasons to dislike it, what are they?
You see, you've would have just judged a person just because of one thing. That person might have a legitimate reason why (like maybe his parents were killed by a black gang) and might actually be really good person. You've already placed them into something just because of one's opinion. Now if a person acts on their opinion, there go judge them all you wish. People saying stuff and people acting on stuff are different things. I would judge them if they acted on it, but as long as don't act and it doesn't disrespect me directly, then I'm going to let them have that opinion and respect that it's valid.
How about I throw this at you: Jerry absolutely hates Vietnamese people. He wishes they all die. People go and judge because of so, but they don't realize that Jerry is a Vietnam War Veteran who was captured and tortured for years by Viet Cong. They killed his entire platoon and tortured him. But no one knows this, and thus judge him so. They all avoid Jerry, and because of lack of interaction between other humans, Jerry commits suicide. Now who's at fault here: Jerry, or the people who judged him and acted on that judgement?
I'm done responding. Clearly you don't agree, and in all honestly, I'vestopped caring about this debate as I type this final words. Let's just agree to disagree and move on.

To me, I don't like the idea of messing with a universe that someone else has already created, and if they want to write a story, why not create their own unique world and come up with their own characters instead of using someone else's? I don't know, I just really feel weird about it.
Everywhere I go, I somehow manage to make a friend who loves Fan Fiction.

HOW on EARTH does having one of your parents die by being killed by a black gang mean its okay to kill every black person on the planet?! That's horrific!
If they want genocide then they can't be an excellent person. They think we should commit mass murder.

Those things don't excuse wanting to kill all the members of that race. Having a bias towards them is understandable (wrong but understandable), but not wanting to commit genocide.
I think I get what you're trying to say, but the examples you used don't really fit.

One last response: It's an example, I'm not good at them. I said his parentS plural. Believe me, there are people who think this because this kind of stuff happens. Why did Hitler hate Jews? He was convinced they rejected his art school application. And if someone can hate a race because of that, a loved one dying could certainly cause something like this. Again, I'm not good at examples.
You've literally missed the entire point. As some ancient Indian literature: don't waste your time teaching people who don't want to learn. Don't bother responding please, pointless arguments like this depress me.

Run on sentences don't particularly bother me. I'm certainly not a grammar expert either, so I can't really judge too hard. I'm generally really kind of lazy/ laid back in the way that I write things, unless I have reason to do otherwise. As long as I can understand what someone is trying to say, I generally don't really care. Abusing semi-colons + misusing them just makes me feel like the poster is trying way too hard... considering they're intentionally using them without actually understanding how and when to do so. I guess it's just a little pet peeve of mine.
Such overkill; can't even handle it; why do people refuse to use periods and form separate sentences? Well; at least we're not using them in place of commas.
Oh, okay! Thanks. I've been diagnosed professionally with depression, and my boyfriend actually as legit OCD... He basically has meltdowns if he can't touch things twice. Even if they hurt him, he must touch it twice. It makes me mad to see people say stuff like that.
Making fun of someone for being disabled is major ableism, saying things like 'that's retarded' is moderate ableism, saying you have a disor… moreder when you don't is minor ableism (e.g. 'OMG I think I have OCD cause i like to get all collectibles in a game :') :')'.
In this case? Nah, I don't really think that's accurate. It's not as if I was quoting an actual sentence. The comma had no relation to what I was quoting. It would be different if the punctuation was relevant to what I was quoting, such as a period at the end of a line of dialogue.
Always put your comma inside of the quotation.

It's not that it looks weird, it's just that it makes no sense at all. I understand the rule being in place in consideration to quoting complete sentences or lines of dialogue, but it doesn't make sense to apply that rule to a stand alone word and include the comma inside of the quote simply because the punctuation just so happens to fall next to the quoted word in this particular case. The punctuation doesn't have anything to do with the word in this case, so including it inside of the quote makes little sense.
I've got to say that I have to agree with your opinions (at least most of them); saying how hypocracy, hatred and other types of opressions just suck. But, damn, some of you guys restored my faith in humanity (and faith in this forum). I'm glad you guys are egalitarian enough to see what's right.

I hate when people can't respect opinions. If you disagree with someone, just actually tell them why you disagree while still respecting their opinion and without starting a fight. Unless it something completely idiotic, like topics on racism and homophobes. Their opinions shouldn't even be heard IMO.

I hate when people are really angry, yet continue to smile. In 2nd grade, I had a friend's mom threaten me by saying that if I tell her daughter Santa isn't real, I wouldn't be able to play with her again. All with a goddamn smile on her face.
People who take offense to every little thing.
When guys randomly spit on the ground, usually when they are walking.
People who are clingy, I need my space.
When people honk their horns at EVERYTHING while driving.
People who keep talking and don't know when to zip it.
People acting like they know everything and anyone who knows more than them or corrects them on something is automatically a ignorant douche also people who disrespect other beliefs and cultures because they don't understand.
Perfectly matches me. I was too lazy to add anymore, but I would have added these if I could. Your last one I don't have 'experience' in but from what I've seen it's pretty messed up.

If you acknowledge your example is flawed then you can't really blame me for missing the point my love.
And the Hitler expansion doesn't really work - at least for most people - as most people HAVE judged Hitler for his racism.
Also as someone who studied the rise of Hitler at a high level, I can tell you that saying he hated Jews because they rejected his art school application is incredibly over simplistic.

I don't want to sound like a grammar nazi, but I hate it when people have no idea how to use a semi-colon and yet they abuse the hell out of it.
Do you; run into that often?
Just semicolon? I abuse my commas pretty bad.
There is no space in semicolon.
And I agree; especially when they use dashes in place of them or use them in place of a comma.

When people are hypocrites e.g.
Friend - "My fave show is better than yours"
Me - "Well in my opinion, my fave show is better than your fave show"
Friend - "Well, your opinion is shit, have you even watched all the episodes from my show?"
Me - "Nope"
Friend - "See so how can you judge it?"
Me - "Have you watch all the episodes from my show?"
Friend - "Nope..."
Later....
Argument continues over which show is better...
Friend - "I find it funny that you get mad over small things"
Other Friend - "I like his show more than yours"
Friend - SPASSES
Me - "And he says I get mad over small things -.-"
Dammit. I meant "semi-colon", lol.

It's a rule of thumb; it may not look right, but it is correct.
Every author of every book ever would like a word with you.

When people say "I know how your feeling", don't know why that just really annoys me.
It's not hyphenated either.
Is your incorrect use of a semicolon ironic?
Pretty sure it can be.
