Will August be redeemed?

The guy seems to be actually nicer than Vasquez and does seem to care for Sasha the question is do you guys think he'll do something to redeem himself such as sacrifice himself for sasha or continue to be a bad guy? Im hoping for the 1st Tbh

  • I'm hoping August becomes a good guy, too. He seems to really like Sasha a lot, maybe he'll change sides to become closer to her. I hope there will be a way to get them together. 8U

  • No. Absolutely not. That creep better stay away from Sasha, cause I'll make him regret it....as Rhys and Fiona.......

  • I don't really see August much as a villain.

He's a threat and has one of the main characters at gunpoint, sure, but he's more so hopelessly driven and upset. He also mention that he has trust issues like six times in the first episode. He's also obsessive and a little wacko, but I don't see it impossible for him to change his ways. He may be a bit too blind to see his errors, though.

I like August, I'd like to see him live long enough to at least become a decent person.

  • August seems more dragged into it I wouldn't call him a straight up villain. Its definitely Vasquez calling the shots here. I don't think he's a one dimensional generic villain. I think I could see him joining up with our group of heroes

  • I was shocked by how not-so-evil August was this episode if you compare to him to other badguys. I think he's kinda an idiot at times, but I think he definitely has a soft spot for Sasha. When he's walking Fiona to that space room place thingy, he looks so saaaad. August's mortal heart is still wounded! God help Rhys if he ever gets mistaken for being Sasha's new boyfriend after August fails to woo her back...oh dude, quick! Somebody mod the Bigby vs Beast fight but replace them with Rhys and August! Go go go go!!!

But like I said, I don't think he's as big a bad guy as evil Kronk and his spinach puffs. Does August have a chance to redeem himself or do something good? It's possible.

  • August's mortal heart is still wounded!

Nah. He had a change of heart.

  • I'm actually surprised August got as much development as he has so far. I thought he'd just be a pain in the ass to deal with. Kudos, TellTale. Hopefully Gryff Whitehill is this interesting in Game of Thrones.

  • I actually WANT August to be redeemed. As long as he quits the mildly creepy attitude and gets back to shooting stuff, that would be nice.

Also, I like how he's a friggin' loan shark, but a lot more moral than Assquez.

I think everyone agrees that we shouldn't redeem Assquez. Even if he worked in the mail room and had money stuck in his fake pompadour.

  • Are you guys forgetting the fact that he had a hissy-fit and, after all that talk about opening up to Sasha, points a gun at her as soon as the drones start coming out? His emotional outbursts make him entirely unsafe. He's a sleazeball.

  • Seeing how this is going to get rather messy, I'm out of here.

  • Didn't August shoot a dude after telling him that the late loan payments were fine? This was after the poor guy was begging for his life. Granted I guess he is more moral than Vasquez lol.

Tommy, have far do we go back?"

"I've know your family for real long time August."

"Yeah that's right. That's why this is all going to work out. Now you say hi to the missus for me okay?"

    "Alright. Sure thing. August, buddy."

    "Tector."

    "Yeah boss?"

"Make sure Tommy gets home alright."

    "Thanks again!"

According to August, that guy was a slime ball ripping off his family for years and August gave him enough chances to pay back, but the guy never took them.

  • I feel sorry for August. Sasha broke his heart. He is dangerous ruthless killer but part when asked if she's talking about him was sad. I hope he'll redeem himself before death.

  • Well then #$@% that guy! No shame in killing assholes on Pandora I guess.

  • Yeah, I guess not, but he's still a little too trigger happy and still a little crazy, hopefully he doesn't kill Sasha, and maybe he won't kill her if I played it cool with him about Sasha conning him.

  • August in a nutshell in Episode 2: "I'm not angry about you screwing me over and I'm in love with your sister. You don't mind me stalking her, right? Riiiight?"

Vasquez: "I'M GOING TO GO AND MAKE A WALLET OUT OF YOUR HEAD, AND THEN I'M GOING TO SCALP YOU AND WEAR YOUR HAIR AS MY HAIR."

  • I think Vallory is gonna come after Sasha and Fiona......will August spare Sasha/Fiona? Interesting plot point detected.

Or will Rhys ride Loader Bot to the rescue playing 'Back in the Black.'

Loader Bot's phrase: 'Get to the botta.'

  • I do feel a bit sorry for August. I hope he does come around to our side, but until that time I won't hesitate to pull the trigger on him if it comes to that. He seemed like a half decent dude even when he was escorting Fiona at gunpoint to the Gortys chamber.

  • Perhaps he'll open fire on his boss. Could be interesting.

Now I have an image of him getting pumped full of bullets but still going anyway.

    But Loader Bot's more likely.

Nope, it triggers if you tell August that Sasha thinks he's dangerous.

  • In terms of morally corrupt characters, August is hardly the worst to come out of Borderlands. Both Wilhelm and Nisha (Pre-Sequel player characters) are vastly more self-interested than August - who actually cares about Sasha's well-being - so he's been surprisingly considerate in relative terms. You can arguably play Rhys just as assholish as August so the latter switching sides isn't exactly out of the realm of possibility. The fact that he says "no hard feelings" to Fiona implies that he wants to make amends.

  • Wilhelm will do ANYTHING for money, including murdering thousands of women and children.

Nisha got a perfectly good town from Jack as an anniversary gift, then reduced it to poverty, filled it with bandits and went around shooting said bandits. She's also gone over the edge long before we're introduced to her in the Pre-Sequel. YES, she's polite to Janey, ships Timber Logwood and Nurse Nina together, and is nice to you and Brick (mostly), but she has no problem hanging people for being out at night after 7pm or strangling puppies.

And Vasquez chucked Henderson out of an airlock, punched Rhys, demoted him to a position lower than a mail room worker, asked him to betray Vaughn, etc, etc.

Don't get me started on Jack, too.

In comparison? August is a friggin' baby seal.

  • Yeah, that's what I'm saying! Odds of August switching to the underdogs? He better once he sees what a bro Rhys is to Zer0; guy's as screwed as any other non-VH/non-Bandit on Pandora.

  • I think August's fondness for Sasha can definitely be used to manipulate him into helping you, I don't know if he can be redeemed but I'm looking forward to tricking him.

  • I don't think August is a bad man, it seems to me like he's just following orders (Vallory's orders)

  • And her nickname's the Godmother Of Crime, so...yeah. Mob Bosses are terrifying.

  • He's clearly besotted (and it broke my heart that he was so blind/unwilling to accept her betrayal), but if anything that makes him even more dangerous.

His characterisation during ep 2 really surprised me, though. I was fairly underwhelmed by him in ep 1 (especially because he was so overshadowed by Vasquez), but that conversation with Fiona gave him so much depth.

  • Example: The Wolf Among Us. Lots of twists.

(Nearly everyone's a Jerk at some point, but it's a city on the edge of becoming Gangster Land. Not the rapping types, the ones who pump your car full of bullets if you messed up.)
