Could be, because requirements aren't even logical:
It's says that 3Ggz Intel processor is required or AMD Athlon 64 3000+. Correct me if I'm wrong, but AMD Athlon 64 3000+ is only 1,8Ghz processor, so why it demands so much less if processor is AMD?
As I'm not on my own computer right now (and when it comes to my processor my memory's pants) I can only guess. Mine is the 64 2200, and that's 1.6Ghz. So 3000 can't be far off from that.
I don't understand the processor part anyway. My computer can play Tales just fine with what I got. Why does Secret, despite looking like a much lower spec game require a better processor than Tales.
8 hours to go anyway Just in time for me to get home, yey.
Question for Steam users. I'm a newbie to it, and Tales is the first digital only game I bought. Do I need to download the program that the website keeps asking me to do, just to buy the game. I have but not installed it yet. I get that I'd need it for online play, but I'm not interested in that, I just want Secret (and maybe the other Lucasarts games they have ^_^)

You don't have to download the program to BUY the game...but you do have to have it installed and running in order to play any game that is tied to the steam account you create. Thats the copy protection that Steam has.
Also, those specs are made up. The Xbox Live version is only 500mb, those specs say the PC version is 2.5GB. Considering the two games are identical, I think it's unlikely that the PC version is 2GB more.
I'm having such a hard time not downloading the Xbox version first... I want my mouse control!

ye if you want to play it via steam.. you need to DL steam.. and then DL the game.. open steam.. (online or offline mode) and play the game
if you dont want to play via steam i think you should be able to just DL through lucasarts site when avail.
Yeh I think I'll do that instead, at the moment I don't fancy having another program running in the background. (must get my computer upgraded sometime)
hmmmm, if the xbox version is really out now, i dont get why steam wouldnt release it... I´m still at work now but i would be home in about 5 hours, and steam shows still about 7hours. I hope they will get it out sooner if the xbox version is also out ..

it is out on xbox, ive just been playing it! steam added an extra 10hours to the release date for some unknown reason
I have a control issue. On the Controls diagram, "Look" is written across the directional pad. What does that mean? What do I do for the "Look" command shortcut? I think that's pretty important....
Dammit! I hoped I could play it already by now. Screw Steam for pushing the release back a few hours. Now I have to wait until friday since I've got so many things to do I won't even be home till friday.
I wish everyone else a lot of fun with the game. Looking forward to the first reactions and comments.
Thanks for the download tip. It's currently resting on my 360 HDD
I'm saving it until later, but couldn't help but take a quick peak.
The character look and animation will certainly take some getting used to. Guybrush moves so strangely. I guess with it being the same code under the bonnet, it was just easier to suspend disbelief at a low pixel sprite.
The voice over during the opening exchange seemed strangely subdued and flat compared with ToMI. Hopefully that wont be indicative of the whole game though.
I love what they've done with the background artwork though. Even on a lowly 28" CRT 4:3 tv it looks great. Cant wait to check it out on my 37" Hi def later.
Also, I know a lot of people have been reticent about using a joypad for this game, but it really worked a charm and didn’t feel cumbersome at all from my brief play through.
I've convinced the wife the play the game anyway. But she insists on finishing ToMI first. I wish she'd hurry up already!

They didn't say the download size will be 2.5 GB. Think of it, Telltale games too need much more harddisk space than the size of the download. For instance, Sam & Max season one is about 444 MB in setups and 1,34 GB installed, despite parts of it like Ogg Vorbis tracks can't be even compressed in the setup file. Maybe MI1:SE has uncompressed audio and voice (I don't know), that would make the difference even bigger. So 500 MB vs. 2.5 GB seems believable to me.
I'm playing on 360 atm. It's good but you can't beat using a mouse. I booted up ScummVM just a minute ago to compare some of the music I thought was wrong & straight away the mouse control is so much faster.
The voice over that narrates certain things like the first Lechuck cut scene & The sleeping dogs is quite annoying & I think it's throughout the whole game
The background art is stunning but I'm still not completely sold on the character art. The shopkeeper especially I didn't feel was right. Even the old sprite shows so much character in his face, but the new one I found to be a completely different style. The voice-overs are also generally good, although I was a little suprised by Elaine's. Is it the same actress as CMI & TMI? It didn't sound like it. Sounded just like some generic, posh, English woman.
I'm currently under the dock trying to hold my breath for 10 minutes.

I'm also having this problem. Seems like a mistake to me. Lets hope they bring out a patch. The controls in general aren't very intuitive & I can't really see new players taking to them very well. The old verb table was easy to understand. Click on the verb then click on the item. With the new verb table I keep trying to single click on an item in my inventory, then click it on to something else to use it (like CMI). The fact that everything is now in image form, including the verbs, but you still have to think of it in terms of making a sentence (use fish with sleeping pirate) is a little jarring.

It's actually not too bad, now that I've messed with it for a couple hours.
The "default action" mapped to the B button for most things is "Look", and when it's not "Look" you just need to tap the verb table button to make "Look" your action. It's the first thing your cursor is on when you pull up the Verb menu, so it's a pretty quick swap.
And it's not too hard to think of it as a sentence. In the corner it spells it out as a sentence just fine, just like the top middle of the verb bar.
Now, I wish the triggers pulled up the menu while the bumpers let you cycle through your choices, but all the same this isn't horrible by any means.

AMD's architecture is very different from Intel's, that why they call the processors things like 3000+, it's to indicate that although it runs below 2GHZ it's equivalent to a 3GHZ P4 processor. That was back when all that meant something though as the new dual core and Core 2 line are way faster with much lower clock speeds.
I'm playing the trial and I don't like it very much. I don't really like the look of any of the characters and I'm not a big fan of the other artwork either. I'd rather have the original game with the voice-overs included. I don't know if its worth the 800 points when I can play the normal game for free which I haven't yet finished. O.O
You're supporting Monkey Island and renewing interest in its sales (perhaps enough to get a retail box on store shelves without Steam, which everyone hates so much). That's worth 800 points.
Well, I know I'm buying it for Dominic's voicework, the music, and the backgrounds. Though I don't know what went wrong with the opening "Go to the Scumm bar" scene. It just feels really wooden, when the rest of teh Special Edition that I've played so far feels pretty well-acted.

I supported Monkey Island when I bought the new episodes for $35. I just wish this came out for Games For Windows Live, so I could use my MS points if I decide to get it for my PC.
It's definitely worth the price, although it's a little puzzling why they don't let you play the classic version with voice overs. I understand they wanted to keep the original exactly as it was, but what's the problem with having an option?
Just finished playing through it in little under four hours, and I'm very proud of my 11th posistion on the leaderboards.. Although I'm fairly sure I'll drop when more people start playing.
The achievements are fun too and make multiple play throughs worth while, although most of them are so bizzare you probably won't get them, unless you know what they are. But if nothing else, it's worth the price simply to support the developers.

(ps.. let us know how big the game is, please)

I'm just having fun revisiting old friends. I'll take my time, until I go for that Human Cannonball achievement.

I played it when I was 7, are 2009 childrens retarded?
But in the US, it is rated E10+(Everybody over the age of 10) for:
Comic Mischief
Suggestive Themes
Mild Cartoon Violence
Alcohol and Tobacco Reference
Have you seen Dora the explorer before asking the question??
You are right, after playing Monkey Island 1 when I was kid I started to abusing grog and I'm still addicted to it.
Anyway, this is the right link:

I also like how the loading (accessing hdd) icon is a 5.25 inch disk with the words 'Disk 23' on it!
