Most disturbing puzzle ever

Okay people, if you haven't finished the game, don't read this.
de Singe in the idol has got to be the most twisted and disturbing puzzle Telltale has ever created, and that recording session ... I will be forever grateful I was not there!:p
Naturally, I loved it. I wonder what some parents will think of that puzzle though. "Johnny! What are you doing to that man!"

Yeah I was highly disturbed by that puzzle...

Lol. You gotta beat the bad guy, though!
The guy was gonna chop off your hand, and killed/maimed countless pirates.

It's nowhere near as disturbing as the grizzly death at the end of the first game: Death by root beer.

I'm not sure it's the sounds of pain they're referring to :D
  • edited July 2009
I honestly couldn't distinguish between the sounds of pain and the, err, 'other' sounds.

Well, that's the way some people like it, you know?

Hah! thats what I was going to say because when i got to that part it actually sounded like Le Singe liked it as opposed to painful murmurs.

Which really makes sense for his character ... ooooh Telltale. You guys are wicked :D

It really does when you think of it, and thats probably why Le Singe stands out in the game

I actually forgot De Singe made sounds other than pain. It only took about 4 moves to get the right formation, so I almost didn't notice. I think I only heard one "other" sound.

I thought it was genius, I laughed a lot, De Singe is sooooooo wicked. :p

Top performance by Jared, the guy keeps stunning me.

That's the way I solved the puzzle, by those sounds.

Oh really? Wow, I didn't notice that at all - I just kept pulling out the weathervane and used the tiny face on it as a guide.

Lol, there's quite a lot of masochism in this episode... The Monkey getting shocked, DeSirge in the idol, and Guybrush always smacking himself.

    Subliminal messages?
  • edited July 2009
Why does Guybrush say De Singe doesn't have the "right slots" for the weathervane? I don't get it. Am I supposed to do something to give him the right slots?
    Kidding. XD

I turned my volume down....There were people in the surrounding rooms. :)

I wonder if it was intended that DeSinge was stuck upside down, so everyone would start the puzzle by trying to stick the weathervane into his
  • edited July 2009
Hmm gotta go back in and try that.

I just examined weathervane again right next to De Singe. You can easily see the only face that hasn't been used yet.

For a horrible second, I actually wondered if the guys at Telltale were wicked enough to make me stick the weathervane down his... well, you get the picture. What a relief!
ON the other hand, ToMI is definitely the most "adult" of the games so far. Sex life of Voodoo Lady, masochism, innuendos... Guybrush is finally growing up! ;P

I'm suprised they didn't do a Sam and Max reference with the glass unicorns:)

Haha I LOVED de Singe. I mean, he's supposed to be sado-masochistic, that's why he's named after the Marquis de Sade.
Everything about de Singe was hilarious and slightly inappropriate. How about the masochistic monkey that loved being electrocuted? ;)

That's what I did too, but it was a pain using it again and again to see the picture though.

    Funny! Hahahahahahah.

It was the only puzzle that actually fooled me, and took me a while to figure it out.
    Well done!

I did notice that de Singe was making funny noises, but it didn't make sense to me that these would have anything to do with getting the wheels in the right place.
I actually solved the puzzle by leaving the room and looking at the weather vane to check the combination.

It didn't occur to me that I wasn't following the "intended" solution until I read this thread...
  • edited July 2009
Oh, man! I've completed that puzzle in a totally different way: in fact, I just looked at the weather vane and looked at the only face that I could clearly see. That's the same face you get solving the puzzle in the other (I think the best) way.
  • edited July 2009
Yeah, I did the weather vane method too. I didn't even notice that each of his sounds corresponded to the correct side, but it makes sense now that I read it.
  • edited July 2009
One of the few puzzles in the game I got straight away... Should I see a shrink?
  • edited July 2009
the puzzle was pretty funny but i wouldn't say disturbing
  • edited July 2009
How about the masochistic monkey that loved being electrocuted? ;)

I laugh when the monkey pressed the electric button after I left.
  • edited July 2009
I solved it by the sounds. Once I found out I couldn't use the vane in the same way as the other wheel puzzles, I looked for an alternate cue.

yeah same here, at first i was baffled by the puzzle, cause i couldnt stick the weather vane down his yoohoo, but i turned the pieces of the idol and then realise it he made a sound that he liked it, i know i was doing the puzzle right lol

    So true I love S&M ;)
  • edited July 2009
I almost turned the sound down, but thought I could solve it quickly enough.
That is just when my wife said, "What the hell are you playing?"

That was hilarious. You should have left the music on. That could even lead to divorce.
  • edited July 2009
Well, if it could have led to a a divorce that whoulmd mean your wife had already doubts about your sexual preferences...

anyway, this puzzle was so wicked :) so great.

I sort of wish this scene would have been with Sam&Max. That would have been mind blowing I guess!!
  • edited July 2009
haha Yes, I don't think I ever laughed so hard at a puzzle in this series than that!

I think we all tried sticking the weather vane in his... you know. (I mean, that's what first came to mind and I was like 'nooo waayyyyy') haha

And then those sounds... xD aahhaha
