I agree with the first part. Medical care, at the least the basics, shouldn't be withheld. I'm talking about living wages for people that continuously prove they do not want to contribute to society.
You don't think it does, I think it does. I've met so many people that don't want to work, so they jump through hoops on fire to take advantage of the system. I'm not saying a lack of jobs isn't a contibuting factor as to why some don't work, but it's definitely not the only factor.
As for your hypothetical, I don't think it's that rare of a scenario.
Yes. I don't care if you sit on your ass all day, you still get to get that lump checked out. And even if you are a fryer at McDonalds you s… moretill should be able to put food on the table, and not just from the Dollar Menu (the days of McDonalds being all high school kids on parttime are over).
Though what do you mean 'present nothing to society.' I don't think laziness is nearly as much of a factor as a lot of Americans seem to think it is. They'll yell at Obama 'where are the jobs, where are the jobs?!" Then the second somebody mentions they don't have a job it's "oh, it's because they're lazy."
Now hypothetically, if you had ample jobs, and that person simply refuses to work, like you give them a job and they never show up, than I'll listen about cutting off their benefits (though still not medical), but I imagine that's a pretty rare, but not non-existant, scenario.

Human stupidity.
Pretty much everything.
