After ANOTHER disappointment by Telltale, this time over a huge chunk of their fanbase PS3 EU player not being able to play it for a whole w… moreeek over everyone else (it looks like), I am quitting season passes and this episodic system. I have season passes to TWD and TWAU, but no more.
Episodic system only works if people get to watch/play it within a few days of each other and when set dates have been announced well in advance and constant communication between developer and fanbase. Now I need to take an internet blackout on social media and websites for a whole so I will not get spoiled at all.
Might as well wait until the next season is over and get it on the cheap, that's what I will do next time. Telltale and PS3 EU let down a lot of people today.
Why are you baffled? I don't mean to rip on Telltale again, but their communication with their consumers is abysmal. There's an issue of some sort with every release at the moment. Job Stauffer promised on Twitter that they were going to improve their communication back when episode one came out, but it hasn't been the case as of yet, which is extremely disappointing and often, for me, puts a dampener on their otherwise excellent releases. I wish the PR and community management was up their with the game quality, it's a shame.
Of course, Sony isn't helping either.
Still, I guess we'll hear something soon ... right?
I'm baffled by this radio silence from PS and Telltale re: the PS3 Europe release date. I know there are logistical issues (as stated above)… more but I think it's a poor show that all other platforms have a confirmed release date of this week, and one of the biggest platforms in one of the biggest areas is left without so much as a clue. Makes the whole business look haphazard and mismanaged.
Not saying I wont play what they make. I will just wait until all the episodes are completed before I buy.
Can't stick and this stop and start waiting.
The whole point of the episodic formula, is that people can discuss the episodes over the water cooler the next day. Now I have to avoid the water cooler with my friends in my work for a week (at least). Not cool.
I suppose I'm baffled by the fact Telltale are a huge corporation, and, as you rightly point out, should have better process management/PR/communication. As you allude to, if they could come up with a good reason and inform everyone about it, then that's fair enough, but they announced the release dates for every other platform APART FROM PSN in Europe! It's a sure-fire way of upsetting a huge base of their consumers, and, like you say, is a proper shame. Using hearsay (what else is there at the moment?!) as rationale, I assume that if it doesn't come out today then it'll be Friday. If not Friday, then next Wednesday and so-on and so-forth until we've all forgotten who Clementine is!

You might find it funny and like I've said before, one person wont make a difference to their success or riches but the reason I haven't sought out other telltale products like TWAU is because of their history with season 1 of TWD. I really couldn't give a damn about what else they're selling and there will be many thousands of people, just like me, who are thinking along those lines. I thought they would learn from season 1 but they're only getting worse. Nice sales stratergy.
Yeah, I know that feeling, and unfortunately, when you're just a fan waiting for an episode to come out, it can be very frustrating.
Though it did occur to me earlier one point where my analogy falls apart. When you're waiting for a movie, you at least know when it's going to come out. Going back to the Avengers 2 example, we already know what the release date is, even though we have to wait another year to see it. For a TV show, you can look up the air dates of most of the episodes well before they air. Even with comics, which are probably more similar to Telltale's model than anything else, you can look ahead at the publisher's schedule and see when books are going to be released.
With Telltale, we just get weeks and weeks of vague time frames like "coming soon." And it could take anywhere between one and four months for an episode to finally come out. Then when you finally do make it to the release date, you spend most of the day waiting for them to upload the thing because they can't give a specific time. It seems to me that when you're doing something episodic, keeping a regular schedule is more important than what that schedule actually is, and that's something that Telltale has failed pretty miserably at so far. So that might be the thing they should be working on. I don't know that that's likely to happen either, of course, just because of how much development times can vary, but it sure would be nice.
Same case here (Czech Republic - PS3)! I just cannot wait to get home from work and enjoy this fantastic episode on my free evening. But wait a moment... I have no ******* idea whether i'll be able to play it or not!
Apparently there is a small QA issue and it won't be out this week on PSN EU.

First of all, I hate every single one of you who can already play episode 2.
Second, I'd like to torture that genious who started a thread with "doesn't .. look different?"
Thank you, ass, for ruling out all ...characters.
People are so stupid!
(yes, I'm very annoyed).
P s. SORRY!! I thought everyone would read titles. It was a title.
Seriously wtf Telltale?! You're lucky EU's PS+ update is today (and south park friday) or my jimmies would've been extrememly rustled Why did I have to find out in the comments section of some article? Why couldn't you just say it is delayed instead of making us guess?
When I bought the season pass, I was expecting a 2 hour episode every 1 and a half months, but instead I have to wait 2 and half months to get a ''maybe next week''
Remember episode 3 last year? We had to wait three weeks longer than everyone else to play it. It's really annoying, it's like we're not as valued as other customers.

Sony and Microsoft are the ones who set the dates on their platforms, and they only release a certain amount of games per week, and only on … morecertain days.
I agree that it's annoying system, but it's not Telltale's fault. It would be nice if the big console manufacturers could get with the times and let the developers set their own digital release dates, but it doesn't seem like they're going to lose their antiquated physical media mindset any time soon.
That's understandable but it isn't a normal occurrence and more so it wasn't an occurrence with telltale, why 'punish' (laughably so) telltale for another's mistakes?
That guy stole the diamond? OK then let's arrest the store owner.
Not saying I wont play what they make. I will just wait until all the episodes are completed before I buy.

Thanks for spoiling it all for the rest of us by saying doesn't..... look different!!!! I havent looked at the main forum at all btw to avoid spoilers, but cheers!

I think many of thousands is a bit exaggerated but I'm sure you're not the only one. In any case the majority, who may be annoyed (as I slightly am, don't get me wrong), are much more than intrigued with this story, so it really doesn't matter.

I KNOW!!!! When you have a release date, BE DANG SURE YOUR READY FOR THE RELEASE DATE!!!!! I mean, its march 5th now and we have received no word on it from TellTale. Not a were working on it or anything. Come on guys......
Well, Telltale get to announce the release dates of the game themselves, don't they? As does every other game production company. Ergo, if they're having problems with the release of a title, you'd expect them to take responsibility and announce it, rather than hide away and say nothing. The thing is, it's not as though they won't know the reasons it's getting delayed either. Someone from PSN will have been in touch with someone from Telltale to say "Sorry, we've had a QA issue, we're having to delay the release until next week". If Telltale have that information, why not share it? Particularly as the majority of people were expecting the game to be released today. It just makes sense. People don't like hearing things 2nd or 3rd hand. There will probably have been people waiting around all day today, hoping the game gets released. Would have been decent of Telltale to come out and say "sorry guys, because of reason x and reason y, we're having to delay the release until next week".
And I'm sure the response you are looking for is on its way. The point still remains it was a problem on psn side, while tt is sure to release this information it should come from the problemed sector first. They don't get to announce the release dates themselves, they have the days they want to release the games and plan to release the games but in in the end the finale say is determined by the releasing corporation (play station).
In the end a 30 second Google search heralds the same results as though telltale had released the information themselves. Only difference is it is probably more informational seeing as the information is coming from the people who have deeper knowledge of the problem at hand.
Telltale should release this redundant information yes, but it isn't really a prudent topic.

We could be looking at three weeks, I mean I thought you were dead's been spoiled for me. Fingers crossed it's next we, hopefully next Wednesday. It's still not fair though.
If telltale hadn't taken so long to to finish episode 2 everybody would have enough time to do what needs to be done but because they did take so long and people were getting pissed, Sony didn't have the time they needed to get it ready for the release date. I'm guessing they normally have around 2 weeks from when they receive the content and when they are supposed to publish but because they were lagging they had less than 1 week. Root of the problem, Telltale.
And push back the release another week or two?
Nope.
It is psn's fault, no one elses. Take the unwarranted hate to the psn forums if you feel the need to vent (where it would actually be warranted).
Outside TellTale HQ if the game is not out in PSN EU tomorrow...
Episode 2 is certified for PSN NA release obviously, and you can be… more absolutely certain that the Sony EU guys got the final ep2 build at the very same time as the Sony NA guys...
...so you will have to ask yourself: who to blame?
We could be looking at three weeks, I mean I thought you were dead's been spoiled for me. Fingers crossed it's next we, hopefully next Wednesday. It's still not fair though.
Telltale should abandon their episodic formula if they can't keep to dates and can't stop giving platforms issues.
Just release it all in one go or get on the ball... fast.
Can imagine your favourite tv show? hey the next episode will appear on screen ins 6 weeks time, no wait 8 weeks time, its coming soon I promise, seriously promisely soon, seriously guys here is a few pictures, its coming soon, having a few issues might take a bit longer, but seriously soon okay. Big news on Friday. Friday - here is a trailer, but guys seriously its coming soon. People would go mental.
Pick a deadline and run with it, deadlines are good for discipline, can you imagine a company were people just handed in work whenever? Pissed off customers, despite how amazing the product is. ESPECIALLY when pre-paid. You wouldn't put up with this nonsense from a plumber or builder would you?
They could just release unpolished episodes that are sub par so you can play them sooner, not like them, and stop playing, would that be a better alternative?

Critical thinking. The game is complete and ready for release as far as telltales part goes. Proven by multiple successful releases. The problems with releasing on the consoles are just that, problems with releasing on the consoles.

Since you are under PS3 EU department, no you shouldn't be able to play it today as it has no date yet..
Seriously? Ugh. Very frustrated about this.
Mac here no game
And we find out from the comments section of a PSN Blog, rather than from an official announcement from Telltale or Sony #PRGeniuses
Did you buy it from steam or from telltale's website?
Same story here! Bought the season pass from telltale. I hate steam... but this isnt good either
Any rough idea when it's coming out on PSN EU? It's becoming harder and harder to avoid spoilers.

Oh I'm sure I will
It's a psn issue isn't it? Why would you expect it first from second party rather than the people who are having the issue?
Stop repeating yourself, I got you last ten times It is Telltale's fault too. Stop defending them.
Still, Telltale should let the EU have more time to publish it, it's their fault and Sony's fault.
That's understandable but it isn't a normal occurrence and more so it wasn't an occurrence with telltale, why 'punish' (laughably so) telltale for another's mistakes?

3 WEEKS?!? This is so unfair. Even a day longer is.
