The camp cant be THAT bad.

edited May 2014 in The Walking Dead
I was just thinking about it, and the camp the cabin group ran away from can't be that horrible. I mean, unless it's like a slave camp I'd like to know why it's so horrible that they ran away from it.

Comments

  • The only board game they have is checkers and Carver cheats.
  • It's obviously horrible. They wouldn't run away if it was a nice camp with butterflies, rainbows, and unicorns, would they?

Plus the fact that Carver tortured Carlos and forced the group to come back to the camp should speak for itself.
  • Maybe it's just carver they didn't like.

They all ended up involved in crimes within the camp somehow. It's mentioned that Alvin killed some guy, and Carlos did something 'not nice.'

If you've seen the episode 3 clip from Playing Dead, all of the 'innocents', or people Carver is willing to give a second chance, are with Reggie:

Sarah, who only left the camp because Carlos did.

Clem, who got roped into this whole thing.

Rebecca, who wanted to keep Carver away from her baby and didn't necessarily commit a crime.

Nick, who possibly only escaped because Luke was going, or maybe Pete did something.

And Kenny and Sarita, who Carver doesn't know, and maybe he's giving them a second chance. Also Carver and Kenny are 'even' (Ken killed Johnny, Carver killed Walter.)
  • Its probably safe but very strict. Some people can live like that but some cant
  • Why would Pete, Luke, and Nick leave the camp with criminals, if they are.

  • Luke probably did something as well, judging by how Carver specifically asked where he was. Luke would go with him, as they're best pals, and then I guess Pete would get dragged along too.

  • That's exactly what TT and everyone at Carver's camp want you to think,OP.
  • Hope telltale have not done a governor 2.0 and make Carver lie to his people alot

  • That's because he knew Pete was dead probably.

  • Killing Alvin was Carver making them even, after Kenny shot him in the shoulder.
  • Wouldn't it be fair if he shot Alvin in the shoulder :) lol

Carver killed killed Alvin and Walter without any sign of hesitation and fucked up Carlos in front of Sarah and the group even though Sarah begged for Carver to stop. A camp lead by that guy doesn't sound very safe.

It's probably not a giant torture chamber, but I'm guessing that the set of rules are very strict and Carver isn't exactly a pleasant person to be around, take alone take orders from. The people who stayed there probably didn't have any alternative.
  • Smells like Crawford II.
  • I don't think the camp itself will actually be that bad a place it's more Carver and his way of doing things. I imagine he's very strict and that he works on a his way or no way basis and anyone that steps out of line is given harsh punishment(s) IF their lucky enough to live.

I mean we haven't really seen much of the camp so far but from what we have seen it appears to be quite a big and safe place and suggested that their are plenty of people there. I assume everyone will have their own jobs that they work in shifts. I reckon they'll be some good people in his camp that may not necessarily agree with how Carver does things, but they know what will happen if they step out of line and at least they are safe there.
  • carver took away everyone's xbox privileges
    thats why everyone ran away
  • East Germany in the 80's 'wasn't that bad' in many respects. People usually had food, work and other necessities. And yet, in 1989, unrest forced the government to tear down the Berlin Wall and soon enough, the GDR was kaput.

Folks generally don't enjoy it when tyrants push them around and tell them what they can or cannot do. What Carver claims is a community, the escapees view as a prison. When unrest reaches a certain point, some people run away or try to rebel. Consequently, the tyrant kills or locks away the major ringleaders and saves (read: re-educates) the others who got caught up in the moment.
  • Carver raped Rebecca behind Alvin's back, that's how bad it is.
  • Not the xbox! :(

carver took away everyone's xbox privileges thats why everyone ran away

  • On the wiki, they say it's because of Carver's tyranny that they escaped (but there could be something deeper)...

Ok well we don't know much about the camp. Dose that even matter? Carver likes violence, he is smart and ruthless. He will go to great lengths to get the things he wants. We know this because he travel miles to get Rebecca. And whatever people say when he is talking to them he going to twist the words and use them to his advantage. He will happily turn people against each other. everyone is going to be tense and we don't know enough to trust the cabin's group 100%. If Carver doesn't die I can picture him coming after Clementine for the rest of her life.
  • It had a mean controlling leader I guess. It doesn't seem like people are just rejected if they can't work, it seems more like they find some kind of work that person can do lol. It looks like an alright place, aside from Carver being a douchebag.

"oh this camp is nice, sun shine and rainbows with nice people!!! "

    - that's what they want you to think.
  • It would explain the bullet in Pete's head, at the very least.

  • Carver already had a problem with Alvin because of George. Who's to say that Carver wasn't planning to kill Alvin anyway?

Wouldn't it be fair if he shot Alvin in the shoulder :) lol

  • It seems like an okay camp, just with a brute leader.
  • Could be the same reason Russell left his old group.

"We gonna kill these folks and take their stuff or what?!"
  • Because it is a fan fic of Crawford and sucks like it too
  • Can't take the joke huh

  • Oh it definitely can.
  • yeah. i was really thinking Steve was Carver but his name turn out to be William Carver
