Episode 3 Discussion [SPOILERS]
So there are some of us who like to take things slow and go bit by bit. And some who like to do it all in one go.
I'm one of the latter. Rather than spam the forum with multiple threads, I thought I'd just create one and blab here.
So how did you all react to:
1 - Seeing Luke? I hugged him first, then went back and hit him. The hit is actually really adorable. I'm glad they showed a different side to him too (his suggestion to abandon others) as it shows he has his flaws too. But it did remind me of Kenny in S1. Not to mention he likes to disappear a lot, if the EP4 trailer is anything to go by.
2 - Troy - After playing the episode I still don't like him even though he saved Clem's life. He slapped her across the face and buttstroked her (Google that before you all start downvoting me). I don't know what happens if you help Carlos restrain Sarita however.
3 - Watched Kenny kill Carver? I admit I'm surprised because there was a thread discussing this very scenario. I watched it, but that was just for my own benefit. Really wanted to see Carver get what was coming to him. Especially after what he did this episode. I'm not sure if I'd actually let Clem watch if I was Kenny though. Probably.
4 - Sarah seeing Carlos get devoured? Another thing that some people were spot on about. A little scary how accurate the people on this forum can be.
5 - The 400 days characters? Nice, but so brief except for Bonnie and to a lesser extent, Tavia. I honestly thought that strange girl was Becca until I saw her and Shel on the second day. And the rest of them were just glorified stormtroopers.
I'm sorry if this kind of thread isn't allowed. I just needed to let it all out because I don't know anyone else who plays TTG's The Walking Dead.

When did Troy save Clem's life? Must have missed that. But I laughed when Jane shot his dick off. Nothing happens if you restrain Sarita other then that Kenny get's beaten the shit out of him. Does he also lose an eye if you help Kenny?
I didn't watch Carver die. I wanted to show Carver that I'm not like him, that I don't like the violence.
The people from 400 days that I saw was Shel, Becca, Wyatt and Bonnie, of course. Disappointed that they didn't have bigger roles, but meh.
I hope the 400 days cast play more role in the next episode(s). They barely had screen time in this episode.
Yeah, I thought that would happend, that's why I tried to restrain Sarita instead. Kenny still lost an eye in your playthrough, right?
2. Troy enjoyed punishing people, but even he slightly flinched when Carver continued to pummel Kenny.
3. I could understand why some may choose to watch. When you think about what Carver did to the people Clementine had some degree of attachment to (Walter, Alvin, Kenny, Carlos, Sarah, and Reggie), for some people there was no question. To be fair, you have a few chances to leave.
4. Clementine has become "the eye of the storm". Carver saw her potential, and Jane has probably found someone she could teach her better ways of survival (which could possibly be related to the "Path Less Traveled" achievement).
5. Too brief, indeed. It is puzzling that Becca, Shel, and Russell would be there based on their previous experiences (Roland's encampment was similar to the community; Russell's interactions with his previous group and Nate).
2.I laughed when she shot his dick off! >:) BEST moment of the episode.
3. I couldn't stomach watching kenny murder him. :/ I watched the live stream before I got my copy downloaded, and yeaaaaa I almost puked. >.<
4. Sarah gets on my last nerve, she deserves whatever she gets, I wish we could've had an option to hit her ourselves! I would've done it.
5. As for what happened with the 400 days cast, I feel as though the girl who "rescued" all the people truly betrayed them..
And I HATE Bonnie she should've been killed off in the cornfield. -_-
Unfortunately I didn't see any of the other 400 days characters though, as none of them (besides Bonnie of course) went with Tavia in my main save. Hoping they might show up in the 4th or 5th episode in different scenarios, depending on whether they went or not? Would be nice anyways.
2 - He was on my list with Carver. I'd have killed him if I had the chance, and didn't give two shits when the weirdo girl capped him.
3 - I would have made Clem kill Carver herself if I could have
4 - The only reason I was nice to Sarah was to keep the peace with Carlos, but I'm inclined to not give a shit about Sarah if she reappears. She's just a naive annoyance, and she gets people killed.
5 - Tavia is another person of my list. She's a liar and is far deeper in with Carvers shit than Bonnie was. She's as bad as Troy as far as I'm concerned. It'll be interesting to see if the girls show up again
I chopped of Sarita's arm. She's probably going to die of blood loss if not outright getting munched again anyway.

I'm starting to get more and more attached to Bonnie, which is bad because I have a feeling that Boonie's fate in the game will be 50/50. She could end up like Carley or stick with the group till the very end and be the one who takes care of Clementine. Either that or she will die next episode or a few episodes later. But of course, my best hope is that she sticks it through till the end of the season, IN ONE PIECE. Yes, I know everyone was outraged at her for betraying the group by Episode 2, but I believe she has done enough to redeem herself by the climax of Episode 3, so she has won my favor once more.
As for Jane, I liked that girl, but seeing how she killed Troy in Episode 3 and how she's seemingly putting words in to Clem's mind, I don't like her. Even though I rather her live but chances are she's going to be murdered by someone or be devoured alive. Because at this point in time, she seems to be a hindrance to the group in terms of team morale. I think she has a slight Ben archetype, she'll be a culprit in some matters. But Nick is more of a Ben archetype than she is for now.
It's ironic how the kid we like is now possibly the kid we all hate. Sarah reminds me just exactly like Duck and I think we're seeing an archetype in the series. Duck and Sarah are troublemakers and they've yet to do anything beneficial so far. I foresee Sarah's death in the near future, or at least I think her fate is very uncertain right now. If she would to follow Duck's archetype, chances are she will die in the series. The only difference is that Sarah is aware of the situation but is too naive and innocent to cope with it. Duck's situation was overly optimistic and overly dumb. Either way I never liked them or at least I don't like Sarah now. And judging by her broken glasses in Episode 4, chances are the writers are now in debate as to whether Sarah is worth written off dead off screen or does she get to stay around a little more.
Sarita.. you know, honestly, I had a feeling Sarita was someone to keep the story going for awhile, by a little bit more spice in to the whole story. You know, being Kenny's lover, being the voice of reason in the group and caring for the kids..but in the end she was meant to die. I'm seeing a Katjaa archetype in her in terms of personality. But she definitely has a smaller role in comparison to Katjaa. If she has to die, I'd said being bitten by a walker and having her hand chopped off and then dying of blood loss would be the most merciful way TTG has ever treated one of it's supporting female characters. Think about it, Carley had it worse in terms of death. If Sarita dies, I think we can all accept with an open heart because we know Sarita's fate is now 70/30. She won't survive like Reggie or at least, she would survive equally as long as Reggie.
As for Kenny, I'm not attached to him as much as I am to Lee. I mean it's great to see a S1 member back but it seemed like the story is foreshadowing Kenny won't make it from a health stand point of view. When Clementine unfolded his bandage, she seemed shocked. I am going to assume Kenny's left eye is entire destroyed or his eye will be similar to how Lee's injury was at the end of S1. Yes, it's not a walker bite, but I have a gut feeling that tells me his injury will be like Omid's. I don't know, but I think Kenny's fate is pretty uncertain at this point.
Nick will definitely die some time in the future, TTG won't let him live because it's too much work. It's a matter of when, I see him as a Ben, but a matured and improved version of Ben, who won't hang out long still.
I have a feeling Rebecca will live for the entire series, or at least that's what I'd like to think. She has a baby and it would seem likely that the group will place a lot of protection of her because of her current handicap. If she ever dies, my feelings tells me it's self-inflicted.
I like Luke, I wished Clem was slightly older for her to form romantic relationship with him (sorry, too attracted to Luke's voice). At this point, it seems that his fate for the next few episodes will be secured. But whether he will survive to the end remains debatable. I have a feeling he will sacrifice for the group.
I haven't seen a Chuck archetype for now but chances are one of them in the group will get to be a Chuck some time soon, question is I don't know who. But it seems like the group won't be getting any new addition to group for one or two episodes. And we have yet to know about Christa so I think the next episode is gonna deal withe group's psychological struggle about the events surrounding them. And it seemed like Clem's group got themselves in to a tight spot in Episode 3, maybe someone would pop out and save them in the nick of time.
TL;DR, my personal prediction for the strong contenders in terms of fate.
Clementine, Luke, Rebecca, Kenny, Boonie, in according to ranking.
Placed Boonie the last because having learned my lesson, chances are TTG will kill off crowd favorites and then make us love the left out ones, and then they'll proceed to kill them off again and repeat the cycle. Remember Katjaa and Carley, then came Omid and Christa, same thing would probably happen in the near future.
2 - Alright, now it's safe to say that Troy was a total dick. Completely justified death.
3 - I didn't expect Carver to die this early on, but I'm glad it happened, and I'm also glad Kenny was the one to kill him. I chose to watch in spite of myself; I wanted to stick with Kenny.
4 - That was just painful. I literally said "No!" and cringed. Poor Sarah. :[
5 - I wish we could've seen more of the 400 days characters. Aside from Bonnie and Tavia, they all only had one line each. Disappointing.
Also, did anyone else notice that Sarita's scream if you cut her arm off is the same as Beatrice's from season 1?
2. Troy seemed to have his "better" moments such as saving Clementine which admittedly was probably because of fearing Carver seeing her death as his failure than out of altruism. Granted, you could argue him not punishing her for sneaking off into the comic shop was a sign of him being nice although saying someone was nice because they didn't hurt a child is depressing. Overall, I still thought he was a jackass.
3. I did have Clem watch Carver die but I did it because I thought the game would give me the option to try and talk Kenny out of it, maybe even put a bullet in Carver's head myself if he didn't stop. I wanted Carver dead but only because he wouldn't have stopped at anything to get at the Group. Hell, he is the kind of guy I wouldn't be surprised at if he managed to survive the Walker onslaught while tied up. I was desappointed that the game didn't give me those options.
4. I knew something like that was bound to happen. Sarah in the middle of a horde? Panic attack, freezing up and so forth. Carlos' death didn't surprise me but the option to not try and pursue Sarah calmer afterwards felt amiss (Telling her to run in the middle of a horde felt like signing her a death sentence).
5. I felt there were a lot of potential interractions with the 400 Days' characters missing. I wanted to have the option to talk to them, even if swaying them wasn't possible, even if it was just them saying Clem should try and keep in line. Something to show how they coped because Russell felt wierd just working fine (as far as we could see, granted) with Carver's orders since one of his endings was walking out and away a similar psychopath. Maybe they'll get a bigger part in episode 4, maybe pursuing the group or something.
I mean, there's some great sequences, some really strong stuff, but apart from that, there's not much left... It was extremly short, not talking in time itself but more about sensations. It felt just so short. Not enough gameplay phases..
I really don't know whatto think about it, I just hope episode 4 will come out quicker this time, cause I feel like this episode was more about being a turning point in the story than a strong and consistent episode. Which is fine if what comes next is great, but the episode itself wasn't extraordinary. Everything was going so fast, no time to get a real atmosphere..
But it wasn't bad, far from it! Just felt a bit disappointing. Hope episode 4 will come out really soon!
It seems likely Luke's been bit, so there's trouble brewing there, not to mention Sarita is probably going to die one way or another. I'm also very curious as to what will happen with Tavia and her remaining team. Episode 4 seems like it's going to be a real cluster.
2 - I dislike him even more now after this episode, he was one of my most hated characters in TWD series.
3 - I watched Kenny kill Carver. Clementine needs to see the world for what it truly is now. It's horrible but I have the feeling it's going to develop her character greatly.
4 - I'm not surprised it happened, just surprised it happened in that way, was rather horrendous.
5 - Bit annoyed that the other protagonists were pretty much extras. They only say one thing to Clem and that's it. Wish there was more to them. At least a dialogue option while they talked to her would've been nice. This is the main thing that annoyed me about this episode.
2: I also disliked him very much but that shot to the balls man...."That's not cool, you don't shoot a guy in the balls" I did a little girl scream actually when that happened. ^_^
3: Yeah I watched aswell which was very conflicting for myself actually. Part of me wanted to walk away but my huge dislike made me stay... Afterwards I felt a bit sick about it even though it is just a couple of pixels/game. Strange emotion.
I may be a bad person for this, but I sort of sympathize with Carvers survival theory, though he is a bit too extreme for my taste and a bit too sadistic too. I choose to watch Kenny kill him because I feel that Clementine has got what it takes to be a harsh and rather unsympathetic survivor (which is kind of my ideal) so that is what I make of her and seeing his face beaten in gave me a feeling of satisfaction. Oh, and holy shit; I fucking loved the end scene (I cut Saritas arm off) when she screams in shock! That shit was intense!
Thank you TellTale for another awesome episode! :)
When the Walker got a arrow, and i see the brown shirt, i know it's Luke, but the games show Troy's face. And we go back, when Luke catch us.
I hugged Luke.
2) Troy was an asshole, but his death made me cringe. Getting his dick shot off and then being (presumably) devoured by walkers is not a pretty way to go out. Actually, for the first 2 minutes into the episode I thought he might turn out to be alright, til I saw him smirking when Carver backhanded Clem. I'm actually surprised he saved Clementine, though like somebody else said, I strongly doubt it was out of altruism. Also, is it true he's a racist? I've heard some people talking about that.
3) No. I would've, but I didn't want Carver to have the satisfaction of getting his way, and I don't think Clem needed to see that. It was a gruesome scene and I honestly wish Kenny would've just put a bullet in his head, even if he deserves much worse.
4) I was freaking out too, that scene was sick. It's up there with finding Mark legless in S1 as one of the most shocking scenes in the series for me. I knew it would happen though, it was inevitable that Carlos would be killed off to further character development for Sarah. I just hope she stays alive for longer, I'm the most attached to her out of anyone in the cabin group, next to Nick and maybe now Luke.
5) Eh. I wasn't impressed. We didn't even get a chance to talk to some of them, and I find it really OOC that Shel and Russell would be there as armed guards. Hoping they'll have a bigger role in EP4 and that maybe Eddie and Nate show up. Man, fuck Nate, but you can't deny his character is interesting. I'm actually glad that Eddie wasn't in Carver's camp, if all he would've been is a patrolman. However, I liked seeing Bonnie. Pissed me off when Tavia said Clem's new coat was ugly, that line seemed contrived.
edit: I hate what happened to Carlos. That was jacked up. I'm interested to see what type of character sarah will become, if she's still alive i hope.
