Luke Does Care, He Cares About Everyone More Than Anyone Else In The Group

  • True but he knows that Nick gets reckless when hes depressed (Luke even mentioned that hes seen Nick like that before) plus I feel like the "If Clem can do it you can" is actually helping him, its comforting to know that what you're scare of isn't that hard, for example when i first went on a big rollercoaster I saw really little kids doing it and I was like "Well if they can do it, so can I" and it made it way less scary

  • They live in a world were they have absolutely nothing to look forward to, so ofcourse Luke jumped at the chance of having a relationship with Jane.
(If all he was after was sex he wouldn't have been so upset when she left.)

What upset me more about Luke this episode was the scene were he tries to turn Clem against Kenny.

As much as I dislike kenny, that atleast is something he doesn't do, scheme, manipulate and going behind people's backs.

  • I don't get luke, like why didn't he cry when nick died? Like i don't even know nick and i'm crying wtf luke is so selfish plus he missed a chance to kiss nick and hook up...

  • He never tried to turn Clem against Kenny, he just asks how she feels about him and if you agree he says hes glad you see it too

  • I don't know who has said Luke is a heartless bastard, but he was completely wrong for fucking Jane and if he hadn't, Sarah's death could have been prevented(if you saved her at the junkyard she dies in the zombie attack Luke was supposed to be watching out for), so he's certainly not perfect. I'm not saying he's heartless of even mean, but he also doesn't care THAT much about many of the others. He showed little to no emotion when Sarah and Nick died, other than self-pity if you leave Sarah at the junkyard. He even states to Clementine that he wants to leave Kenny behind.

So, while I do agree he is at least a moderately good person, he's not perfect and I think some other members of the group care about the group overall more than him.

The trailer got everyone thinking that luke would try and leave kenny to die or something, which isn't how it played out.

Yeah. Luke does amazing things too. Like...dropping Clementine. Going along with locking her in a shed. Abandoning the group without any sort of forewarning to Kenny. Wanting to cover up Matthew's murder. Getting caught by Carver and probably infuriating Carver. Suggesting they leave Kenny behind after he's injured. Leaving behind a child, and being barely capable of reacting to her trauma. It takes that stranger they picked up a few days ago, over a months-long friend like Luke.

Also here's something for you. Kenny did more to help Rebecca during her pregnancy while Luke hurt her chances by fucking with Jane. He totally cared about his group then. What was left of it.

Luke's no goddamn saint. He's not bad by any means. But he's no fucking saint. And Kenny saves Lee's life at least once, tries to save Ben or saves Christa's. And has proven to be just as useful as Luke on the occasion.

To be honest? They're good together despite their arguments. I just wish you could choose to be neutral, and actually like both of their ideas. Like. Sit with Luke. Shoot with Kenny. Help Kenny cut his bonds and support that plan. Choose Luke's radio plan. Tell Kenny to shut up about Luke having sex. Then go with Kenny's plan of going immediately.

You know. Not taking a direct side and instigating more arguments?

Yes Kenny does do SOME good things but to be reasonable, a majority of his good actions are determinant and based off if he likes you or not

  • It's ridiculous how many threads there are about Kenny vs Luke...

Both are good men who've done their respective parts for the groups they've been in. We've known Kenny a lot longer than Luke and we've seen him react to loss, which isn't pretty. I'm biased towards Kenny admittedly, as I've got history with him and I've helped him through the times he's suffered. Granted, we haven't seen Luke react to loss as of yet apart from a quick "...Fuck." after Nick. I've got a pretty good relationship going on with Luke so far, although he's been annoyed I've defended Kenny. I was annoyed about him screwing Jane, but I won't hold it against him unless he gives me a reason to and if he atones for his mistakes, fair enough. Ultimately, I want to see their character arcs come full circle before I have a complete opinion on them. Given the inconsistent writing this season, Luke seems dedicated to his group and I respect him for that, but Telltale might write in that he abandons the group for the sake of the plot. Same with Kenny, I could say the wrong thing and Telltale might make him crowbar my ass to create tension, we simply don't know yet.

I think we should all take it down a notch until the Season is over, and then we can unleash hell on the Telltale forums! :)

  • Nick was genuinely upset and angry over his uncle just telling Clementine an innocent baby story about him. He clearly has insecurities revolving around looking childish. If that was Luke's intention, I doubt it made him feel any better. It probably just made him feel like he was inadequate in Luke's eyes and that Clementine, this eleven year old girl, was more capable than he was.

  • I just still can't forget that Kenny ran away an is the reason Shawn died in season 1 , I know since then he changed but that thought allways lingers in my mind that he's liable too do something like that again ... truth be told your not going too survive forever following Kenny even knowing we been threw so much with him .... Luke is ok but still I'd never put my life in his hands

  • Alright. that's a good and fair point, and I agree although I think Nicks insecurities were about looking weak/soft which is a category that being childish could fall into. for example Nick tries to act all tough and hard when Clem shows up and says that they should have killed her right away however Pete can be heard telling Nick to just give the act up because he knows Nick would have saved Clem if he found her because of how compassionate he is, He also gets offended when Kenny implies that he thinks Nick is gay, keep in mind i'm not saying being gay is wrong, or that it makes you weak or anything, however in the time The Walking Dead takes place and the region they lived in, a majority of people living there thought of being gay as weak, and girly, and even the ones who didn't think that, would still be aware of what they were implying when calling them gay. Nick also gets offended quickly when Kenny says he is a boy. All in all I now agree with you for the most part, you are pretty good at making arguments too :P

  • Luke does care, Nick died and Luke didn't have a bigger reaction than Rebecca about it, but you try living in a world where you always watch your loved ones taken away from you, it becomes common and for some people they can't even shed a tear anymore :c

I don't know about that. I'm not saying Luke doesn't care, but caring more than the others? That's a stretch.

It's not about saving their lives, it's about actually caring and listening to them individually which Luke doesn't do a great job of. You can't say just because he saved Clem he cares about people, that's very arguable since Pete was with him and Pete is probably the one who wanted to save Clem. He also refused to leave her behind in the forest, so it's not far off.

And later, when Rebecca and Nick were concerned about Clem and the fact she might be working with Carver (they are in the right, they have no idea who Clem is and we saw how vicious Carver is), Luke says Clem should stay and also says 'they [the cabin group] have to deal with it'. He didn't even ask his group their opinions on Clem staying, he didn't hold a discussion like Carlos did. He just made a decision by himself despite knowing how uneasy the group would be.

It's also shown he argues with Carlos a lot on how things are done, and well, considering he doesn't even ask his group their opinions on the matter? Considering he'd take a injured eleven year-old across a bridge and almost got her and himself killed? Considering all these things and more, I don't know. I think Rebecca cares far more. I think Carlos cares far more.

  • In Luke's defense, he didn't actually wanna leave Kenny. Everyone wanted to get out ASAP while Kenny was unconscious, all Luke was saying was if they wanted to get out so desperately then they might have to leave Kenny behind if he isn't up by the time they can escape

  • All of those points Myusha listed are not determinant. Kenny does those things even if he hates you in your play through. Actually, Luke doesn't do well under "emotional stress and depression", because if he did he wouldn't have prioritized having sex with Jane over watching the perimeter for walkers. Even if Jane threw herself at Luke, he had the power to refuse but he didn't, because he let the "emotional stress and depression" take him. Kenny has dealt with arguably far more pain and hardship than Luke, but has still managed to pull himself together when he's needed.

"What is one thing a guy would walk hundreds of miles to get back?" - Luke

    "Clem, it's family." - Luke.

EDIT: Let's also take on the fact about what Nick said about Luke, shall we?

"Luke can always move on." As we see, Luke cares a lot about the group. He walked for 2-3 days straight with no water, food or sleep, just to get his group out of danger. But when Nick says Luke could always move on, why didn't Luke give up right then and there? Why couldn't he of just gone "Oh, my group just got taken by an asshole. I'm going to go my separate ways and find another group. lel". He obviously cares.

Also, with everyone's death? Like Nick said, Luke moves on. In order to do that, he's probably holding in all his emotions. He could be ready to burst any moment now.

  • Oh tell me, how was clementine still "injured" when they went across the bridge?

  • I liked Sarah, she could've had great character development. But right now I'm hoping Eddie and Lily were in the same forest. (Eddie from 400 days) It'd be nice to know they somehow met after they were left behind. (or the other choices you can choose)

By that logic, I blame Troy for showing up when we we're about to walk into the herd.

  • Luke sucks, nick dies.
Luke finds out and..... has sex that very same day lol

If I lost someone I cared about sex would be the last thing on my mind.

  • Both got their advantages and disadvantages. No one is perfect. In a world like this, everyone gets lost.

I still prefer Kenny, but that doesn't make Luke anything less. Kenny just suffered more.

  • Not to mention, when the little bridge shootout happens, Luke shields Clem with his own body, i'd say its pretty outstanding his willing to sacrafice himself for someone he met a week ago

Who's life did Luke save, exactly?

  • Dropping Clem was reasonable, theres almost 0 things left in the world that would bite you and a walker bite is pretty likely, would you risk your life just to carry her, fuck no. he argued agaisnt locking her up, it was mentioned that Luke tried to tell Kenny his plan and that he knew Carvers gang was close but Kenny told him to fuck off and ignored him. Luke didnt know Walter one bit and i doubt there is hardly any people as good as him left in the world, especially 2 years into the apocalypse, for all he knew Walter would have shot Nick as soon as he found out. Luke was actually the only one besides Nick who voted to wait at carvers just so Kenny could heal and have a good chance to escape, do you really think that they could escape while carrying an unconsious, possibly brain dead, grown man? hell no, Luke just stated what might happen if we left early and what child was he going to leave behind?
