I don't have anything to say about the Lounge fiasco, but it's really making me uncomfortable that the people who've commented on this thread who disagree with the Mods/people agreeing with the Mods are getting banned. It makes me worried for myself if I ever end up disagreeing with a Mod.
After what happened hours after the Lounge thread was moved, I figured I'd share my thoughts on the current situation.
I remember when I made a thread regarding how sick I was of self-entitled, obnoxious individuals complaining how they got their money stolen from Telltale by buying a season's pass. This was before Episode Two of The Walking Dead: Season Two was released. Despite my point getting out, it did come across as condescending and "sinking down to their level" so Jennifer felt that it was necessary to close it for good. Although I was a bit upset at this, I looked back and not only released how stupid I was for making a thread that just caused more bad than good, but also how Jennifer was only doing what she volunteered to do. VOLUNTEERED.
After what Blind Sniper said in the "megathread" right before he closed it, I realized something that so many of us seem to not yet understand: The Volunteer Moderators are not getting any sort of compensation for what they do in the forum. Everything they do for the Telltale community, they do to make it more enjoyable and more fun because it's something that they want to do. I guess it's kinda of like a hobby for them? And yet, a lot of us really take it for granted from time to time.
I've looked back at the Lounge a couple of times and the amount of comments that it got per day was just insane. It didn't really have a purpose when it came to discussing something. It was just a bunch of people chatting with each other online. I can't name some right now, but I'm pretty sure we had many threads like this before. So once I found out that our good, ol', dear, friend Jennifer decided to merge all of them into one, I thought, "Huh. That's actually a smart idea. Now instead of having to keep track of three or more gigantic threads where people just talk for the hell of it, they can keep track on one thread where different groups can meet and mingle? It's perfect!" ...Or so I thought?
I know this isn't really the best thing to say about the victim, but if there is a chance that she is reading this, I at least owe her the respect and honesty that she deserves. I can't say Jennifer's morally doing the right thing by leaving just because of some strangers on the internet berating her for doing what she, objectively speaking, was the right thing to do. I personally think she should have stood her ground, be the stronger person, and not let herself be affected by such harassment.
THAT BEING SAID, I can also say that I can't blame her for doing so.
I've seen some comments that weren't exactly explicit or disgusting, but from what I've heard, most of them were deleted immediately or sent to her via PM...or maybe I haven't found them yet. I don't know what they were, and I think it's best if it stays that way.
I really don't understand the amount of hate and anger that was brought up just because of this change. Actually, I won't even acknowledge this as change because nothing was really changed. All that happened was that the Lounge got merged to another thread in a different, more noticeable section. And to some of you, this angered you enough to feel that you had the right to harass a moderator?
What was even more bizarre was how some of the comments I saw were from people who were so passionate about their loss. You'd think someone took their baby away or something.
To the people who were part of the Lounge, bear with me on what I have to say. NOTHING was taken away from any of you. You're thread was merely combined with another. THAT'S IT. The worst that happened was that it was a linear discussion and it was hard to keep track of who's talking to whom. Even though Jennifer acknowledged this, fixed it, and you would've been able to do what you did before, you were still not happy. No, you just had to keep pushing it. No matter what Jennifer did, it absolutely does not justify any kind of bullying or harassment, and if any of you think otherwise...then maybe this forum isn't for you. You might not think so now, but I guarantee you will feel awful when you look back and realize what jerks you were.
I'm sure some of the more good-hearted people in the Lounge weren't affected at all by this and even tried to make the most of it. To those people, you have my utmost respect for demonstrating such etiquette and generosity. Sorry that your Lounge got locked, but it's probably for the best. Maybe the mods can unlock it once things settle down, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Jennifer, you're probably avoiding this place like the plague right now but if you are reading this post, I'm truly sorry about what happened. Know that you were only doing you're job and that you should NEVER have been scrutinized for it.
But I want you to stay strong. Not only for the friends who support you, but more importantly for yourself. It's okay to feel upset once in a while, but you have the choice of letting it haunt you overtime. Don't let some nobodies on the internet, who have no idea who you really are as a person, make you feel bad. Of course, I have no idea what kind of person you are either, but judging from what you've done to make this place enjoyable, I will assume that you are a sweet and caring person and I'd be glad to be you friend.
If you ultimately decide to comeback, rest assured you'd be welcomed with open arms by the people who appreciated your work. If you feel that you shouldn't, it's completely understandable but you will be missed.

I've gone through this thread and some of you are no better than the people who lashed out on Jennifer. Sure, some of you might think they deserve it, but in the end, you'll just end up looking like the bad guys as well. I for one didn't attack Jennifer, and a lot of other people from the FOTDL didn't either. I wish I could have been there to settle things and calm everyone down, but it happened very late at night, and most us had to go to sleep. All this hate towards the FOTDL isn't fair on the people who didn't talk bad to Jennifer. There was even one user I saw that was fed up with the fighting and tried to stop a certain user from constantly arguing when the whole thing was done and over with.
I will admit that I was truly disgusted and angry with some of the users for what they did. The situation could have been handled a whole lot better, I was disappointed with a few users and thought they would know better. Jennifer even tried to fix the thread and made it look like the original, I was okay with this and said that we should give the new thread a chance, unfortunately, people overreacted and wouldn't let it go. When I woke up and saw that the thread was closed and Jennifer was leaving, I got angry and didn't even want to talk to the FOTD crew. They told me that they apologized and that she might stay, though. I messaged her and I really hope she considers staying on the forums and keeping her mod position.
@Jennifer we never really talked before, but I've seen you post a few times. You seem really nice and helpful. All these people want you back and you shouldn't let some people who said some hurtful things out of anger drive you away from here. Life is tough sometimes, we just need to stay strong and get through the tough times together. People are here to help you, so don't just give up over some mistakes that people did.
