Hey @Gnash3000, I really think that the reason people can be such trolls about Luke's death is for a few reasons. My # one theory on why some people like to troll about Luke's death, is because we still haven't come to terms with it. I still can't accept he's dead, and when I finally do come to terms with this, I will probably start bawling like a little baby in public. I will cry my eyes out, but for right now, I find comfort in the fact that if we can all joke about it, it's all like, okay, it's fine. Luke's gone... whatevs...
While on the inside, we have been ripped to shreds...
Luke left a ... hole in our hearts, and it will be a cold place that will never be filled by any other Walking Dead Character.
And I hated the fact that Luke had to die. But, in the end I'm a little glad he did go, because ultimately it made the Pizza v. Ice Cream choice that much easier. If it had been Luke v. Kenny, I wouldn't have been able to make a choice. -__-
So, yeah, Luke's death sucked, but I find comfort in the fact that he's with his loved ones now.

You've got to let it go
Also, I think his death was handled very well (save for Bonnie's after conversation and the rage inducing lying end game screen that punishes you for being smart). If he comes back i might just ragequit.

An odd thing I noticed about what Telltale say for killing Luke, we know they said they did it because most people envisioned Luke as the character that Clem would walk into the sunset with and be too cliche etc. I'd agree with that, but we get that anyway with Kenny. Luke, beloved character many fans would save no matter what, killed because it'd be too cliche. Kenny, beloved character many fans would save no matter what, gets to be determinant. I just realised how flawed that is
I get it, just it's not comparable to Sarah imo. They let Ben have his arc, and even though he was determinant in Ep5, to me, both versions felt valid, which is amazing for a determinant. If Ben is there, it feels like he isn't even determinant, that he's a big part of Ep5. If Ben isn't there, it feels just as valid somehow, unlike S2 with Alvin getting an MIA for most of Ep3, Nick barely talking and Sarah being shunted twice in one ep etc. That said, I think Pete and Alvin got decent arcs, Nick and Sarah were just cast aside lazily
That's Telltale logic for you.
They seriously shouldn't have been so many writers involved in the making of this season.

going on Luke's reactions in series, I think he would be embarrassed of all the attendant. he would probably comment that wasn't needed or something along those lines.
sorry Luke you are very much liked, of course there is reaction like this with your name on it.

Yeah, I'm unsure why they needed so many writers, I mean I didn't see Nick Breckon working on TWAU, unless he was involved in TFTB or GoT? S2 is so good, but it'll also always be the Season of missed character potential to me because of the Cabin group's slaughter and the determinants laziness
That's Telltale logic for you.

It's been a month, and I'm still not over it, nor the amount of wasted potential for just about every character this season. I think it would be fair if Luke appeared in season 3 to make up for it. #BringBackLuke
Omg, yes! I agree with you so much. It's the thing that bothers me the most about his death. After watching that interview and hearing their reasoning for it, I was actually really mad about that. It makes me feel like the writers favour Kenny far too much.

I kind of agreed with them for a while and when Gavin Hammon said Luke was never determinant, I was like fine, I guess I'll get over it, if it was never a part of the game in our hands. But now this is really making me question that, there was no reason not to make Luke determinant if they did it for Kenny. I read they thought the choice would be too easy if it were Luke or Kenny too, but as we've seen here since Ep2, both groups of fans are huge, roughly the same size. I think it would've been closer than the Kenny and Jane choice given the huge fanbase for both ;/

They survived 2 years into an apocalypse riddled with the undead, bandits, and raccoons, but one little girl enters their group and they start falling like flies.
I am upset, and i miss him but they already made the episode, theres no way they'd go back to change his status. Trust me i also want to riot...but i am gonna be the party pooper of this thread.
Dammit clementine. But if clem never showed up, they would have run into carver at the cabin. Not like that would have done much seeing how they got caught anyway.

I started to think about what might've happened if Clem had never showed up, and honestly, I think the same thing would've happened to them. I think Carver would've still found them, and maybe they wouldn't have had enough time to try and escape, and would simply be recaptured. Or maybe they would've killed Carver, and would've been done with him.
This also means Kenny and his group might have never met the Cabin group, and they would've traveled up to Wellington regardless.

Bu-....but that's my thing. It's the only thing I got going for me here. Whe someone makes a Luke thread, I post the picture of my puns. It's just the natural order of things! You can't fuck with the natural order of things!
It's been about a month now since Season 2 ended, and I have to admit, Luke's death still hurts as much as it did when it first happened. Since then, every time I see a frozen lake or frozen water I flashback to that moment on the ice with Luke and it's just too much. I think I might be scarred for life.
Despite that, the fact that Luke died and the manner in which he died aren't the reasons why I am unsatisfied.
I didn't like that the writers/game directors killed Luke(and so many others) off for "shock value." Yes, I understand, that it's a zombie apocalypse and people are going to die in unexpected and shocking ways, but if the writers keep going to that ploy in order to raise the stakes and create tension and drama, then eventually the audience is going to get desensitized to it. When Season 3 comes along and we meet the new cast of characters, the first thing I'm going to be thinking about is "In what horrible way are you going to die?" and "Should I even bother caring about you and your story if you're just going to die anyway?" and honestly, I don't want to be thinking that way. Killing all the characters in order to further fuel the plot towards a big dramatic finish just shows the limits of a writer's abilities and I know TellTale is better than that.
There is a way he can come back you know. If telltale really wanted to.
Help Luke If you help Luke, then you will last see him being dragged into the lake, we never see him die in this ending, but he can still break free and come up through the lake after the group came into the house. Cover Luke In this choice, if you break the ice, then you will see him, shocked, with his mouth open. The thing is that, it is likely that he died but there is a chance that he didn't. He could have either 1- Passed out or 2- Faked his death. Don't break the ice You never see Luke die in this one, however he could have crawled through the opening in which he fell in. The place which he fell in, he can crawl back out even with his shot-leg in all endings. Mike, Arvo and Bonnie (determinate), can both come back to find Luke alive out of the lake, or they could morn his death and see him floating and somewhat try to resuscitate him. The interesting thing about Luke's "death" is that it occurred at the same episode (S2E5) as Kenny's "death" in (S1E5), it also occurred at the same chapter and in similar ways. The character can either try to help the character or do as he says. Kenny told Lee to go, you can either stay to help Kenny or do as he says. Luke told Clementine to cover him, and you can either help Luke or do as he says. His "death" also occurred because of walkers which caused Arvo to run, which caused Kenny and Mike to run, and which probably caused Luke to panic a little bit, making him put a bit more pressure on one leg than he should have. The thing about Luke's death is that there is a chance that he can get "lucky" like Kenny and survive.

I think you've missed the point. What I'm trying to say is; lift him or not, he still dies.
Well, about 30% of players rage quite at his death, so...
I ain't lettin' go, babe
It would be better if they just brought him back in season 3, like Kenny.
