Yes to be honest I feel like Im in preschool EVERYONE'S A WINNER .
It showed opinion of a comment on a ratio, it was an easy way to see who agreed or disagreed with a comment. The fact it got removed because people cant handle a downvote that literally does absolutely nothing is over the top. Trolls attacked because people started making threads about how much it bothered them, anyone who didnt care had no problems.
I think they might be able to work again, but maybe monitor how many likes/dislikes they vote and ban the account temporarily for a first offence (if possible) and for repeated offenses have them banned longer until it goes to a permanent ban. I'm on another forum which does this for some rules and it works rather well.
I just don't see the point in it. If you care enough to disagree with the posters position then say why. If you can't put into words why you don't agree then your opinion is pointless. The dislike button was a sham for people to feel like they could provide an argument against the post without doing anything of the sort. It's an absurd shortcut that undermines the very essence of a forum. That being said it can.also be applied to likes.
Exactly. Like I said before I'd rather they take both then leave one so that people can say why they don't like it, and why they like it. I would like to have both or none at all.

I would prefer neither also, but I think people value the precious likes they've acquired since they started posting, so I don't see most people being willing to part with them.

There were trolls that were downvoting everything posted by Telltale staff since the first day downvotes were added. It really doesn't take anything to get the trolls going. Once they find an avenue that can be abused, they take every opportunity to exploit it. It's just that once people took downvoting to heart, the trolls really started going at it. There were way too many people creating fake accounts to downvote troll (some were even active members of the forums). We try to foster respect here, and the fake account trolling didn't help with that at all.

I agree with you. When the TWD side of the forum got spammed with images and themes of a perverse nature, the downvotes helped identify those threads so that other wouldn't enter undesirably.
The only time I can think of that the downvote button was appreciated was during the unfortunate flooding of abhorrent spam within the TWD side of the forum. The massive quantity of downvotes in relation to the spare upvotes helped isolate the spammed threads so people would go on them, thus lowering the "viewed" count associated with it. This feature helped to prevent what would have been mental scaring. The only issue, however, was the the same sign used to identify spammed threads was also associated with what I called "thread wars." I didn't know if a large downvoted post was a legitimate concern or just internet immaturity translated into poor internet etiquette. What this forum needs is for its users to not take words on a screen so close to heart. Unless the member releases such information, no one on here knows who you are or any major personal info about you other than our common enjoyment of TellTale Game's products. It is ok to express an opinion regardless of whether it is favorable or not (as long as it is not lewd or purposely designed to instigate outrage). If someone disagrees with you, it is ok to discuss it and share points and counterpoints. The juvenile name calling towards forum members and TellTale staff is unnecessary. We, as a whole, need to improve out mannerism within this forum. Only then will this forum see better days. To honest, this forum isn't as bad as some other forums that I have seen on the internet. The only area that I believe needs the most work is the TWD area (which has prompted me to become hesitant when exploring it in recent months). As I said however, it is not as bad as other places I have seen. I have faith that this forum can be a fun and interesting place to laugh and converse, we all just have to be unify together on this vision.
I'd rather not have the down vote button back because it was the reason why I started lurking the site again after I got a waves of down votes for voicing my opinion.
I agree about the passive aggressiveness and being afraid to post opinions because of how many downvotes it might get. Overall, I really think it made us as a community converse with one another a lot more.
Personally, I liked them just so I could see what the majority opinion is in an argument,
I imagine that's what Telltale was going a… morefter in theory once they initially added the down vote button, which I can understand. However, people only ever used it to passive aggressively troll and it made people afraid to post dissenting opinions in the first place. Also, it seems that nobody had a set idea on what they wanted the dislikes to indicate - including Telltale themselves. The feature seemed too vague and ambiguous, so users argued over what down votes were supposed to be used for.
There's a solution to the trolling. Maybe monitor how many likes/dislikes a person gives to posts and if the person is voting "like" or "dislike" on a massive number of pages then have the account banned. Not fool-proof, but it could weed out a few of the trolls.

I wish everyone had that attitude

I do too.

I can't stop watching that, it draws me in....
True but you're anonymous if you just have to click a button
The like is a button too...

But at least that's positive

I miss downvotes a lot. Loved them. My other accounts too. People were mad.

Exactly the reason they're gone now. This is why we can't have nice things
Down votes were never nice
R.I.P Down votes.
