Asher and Rodrik

I can't help but think that one of (if not the) biggest choices will be between Asher and Rodrik. I get the feeling that they'll basically be the Kenny/Lilly or Kenny/Luke of Game of Thrones, but playable. I can't help that by the end of the season there'll be a choice where either one of them die, or one of them will become Lord even if Rodrik is the heir.

  • I think this would be a great decision. Choosing between Asher the brash badass or Rodrik the noble maimed first born would blow my mind!

  • I don't think they'll outright hate each other but they'll probably have some differing ideas about how to run things.

That is, if Asher actually makes it back to Ironrath this season.

I was really disappointed to hear that Daenerys would be in the game, since that pretty much gives away that Asher won't be making it to Ironrath anytime soon, unless it's only for an episode and she isn't in it that much.

  • Dose that mean Asher dies in the books or something?

  • Asher's not in the books, but because Danaerys is confirmed it means Asher has to talk to her at some point (being the only POV character in Yunkai), and because Danaerys isn't confirmed for Episode Two it means Asher will be in Essos for at least one extra episode.

Dose that mean Asher dies in the books or something?

  • I'm sure Asher's scenes will be interesting nonetheless; I look forward to getting to know him and Malcolm.

  • Is any of the Foresters characters in the book or did tell-tale created this family? 0_0 not that I mind I just didn't think George (the writer) would let them do that.

  • They were only mentioned in A Dance With Dragons as being scouts for Stannis, nothing more.

  • Telltale explains it better than I could:

Although the Forresters have not appeared in HBO’s TV show, they are canon to the world created by George R. R. Martin, having appeared in the book ‘A Dance with Dragons’.

  • SO the characters were mention briefly, just that the haven't been given a moment to be seen by the reader in any type of depth yet?

  • Yup. But the game is canon to the show, and the Forresters haven't even been mentioned in the show, so TellTale was given leave to do what they wanted with them, as long as it didn't mess too much with the main story.

  • Yup. All we know is that they are spies for Stannis during his march on Winterfell during A Dance With Dragons, so if the show incorporates that its likely we might get to see Stannis and Mel in any possible future seasons!

I doubt Asher will return to Ironrath till late this season but even then I don't think Rodrik and Asher will be at each other's throats, at least not how I play them. Rodrik is the rightful heir to Ironrath and I'm not gonna pull a Renly and try to take it from him (weirdly enough though I still loved Renly XD).

If Telltale tries to force them to hate each other, that'd be really stupid IMO. Guess we just have to see what happens.

  • Thanks for confirming that.

  • So tell-tale could do anything with this family. since they characters haven't given much depth till now they could kill all the members in the game.

  • Oh that is depressing. thanks for answering my questions thro. :) I guess that there are no happy endings. through if there is future seasons they can't kill all the members in the first season. after all the foresters die I doubt tell-tale would be given other characters to create stories for.

  • I thought Rodrik died

  • Can you explain. I've only ever played the game and I thought I saw him die

    No.

  • No clear answer just yet but lots of people are starting to think he might've actually survived.

Some people, such as myself, always thought so.

  • I am anxiously waiting for that sibling rivalry.

  • Considering this game takes place early in season 4 of the show then at least one member of the family has to survive until at least season 6 of the show (which would coincide with A Dance of Dragons) in order to be Stannis' spies.

If they do the Stannis Spies thing then, and there doesn't seem like they wouldn't the game series would for possibly 2 or 3 seasons? yeah I think that is right

  • Of course as main characters get killed off they can always just add new ones, as long as there is at least one actual Forrester left. Hoping its gonna be Asher. He seems interesting. I also hope Talia may become a PC at some point.

  • well Asher seems to be an anti-hero. and those characters are allways interesting I agree. maybe but any new characters they get would have to permission from the writers at HBO and or George himself. I don't think they would be able to create their characters in the series like they did with Clementine in the series walking dead.

  • True they might not be able to make anyone up but ASoIaF has like 100 major families which amounts to hundreds of characters who exist but have never gotten screen time. Plus the game is meant to revolve around this family in particular but as seen with Gared they dont need to be of the Forrester blood so any of the men/women who serve them could become player characters like for instance the Measter.

  • There's only five playable characters in Season 1: Ethan, Gared, Mira, Asher, and Rodrik.

  • When I first saw his "death scene", I just thought that he wasn't dead. I mean, a horse falling on him and a stab to his leg, that's survivable. And since when do they ever show a very non-obvious death? It's sketchy.

  • Rodrick is dead.Like walking dead!in TWD every one died! except kenny of course.

  • He isn't.

  • Yeah, my first thought was "what was the point of making Rodrik a character if they're just going to kill him off? To make Ethan lord they only really needed to have Gregor and kill him off, so Rodrik must mean something more important."

  • Go to the main menu in the game and look at the blacked out character, then look at the codex and go to Rodrik. They are the same
