Telltale announces Minecraft: Story Mode
Yeah I saw that. I wonder if Telltale is planning on releasing this before Walking Dead S3.
I'm betting this will come out before TWD S3, though anything is possible.
I almost certainly expect Minecraft: Story Mode to come out before Walking Dead: Season 3. Telltale mentioned that Minecraft: Story Mode is due to release in 2015 on their announcement blog post. However, in a recent Playstation experience panel, Telltale mentioned that they weren't so sure if Walking Dead: Season 3 would be at a point later in 2015 where they could share anything more than news.
That's certainly an interesting development. I wonder how far they are into working on the game. Judging by how the Interactive FAQ was talking about the game, it seems like they have some ideas worked out at least in terms of how the interpretation will work.
Yea, thats what I was thinking. I wonder if Minecraft: Story Mode might not even have 5 episodes and they are planning on releasing maybe half of the season in 2015.
Nah, I'd say it's too early to make a call on the game having more/less episodes than the average Season. Despite Telltale taking around two months in between episodes on average nowadays, I'd imagine setting up the back-end work for the overall game is fairly easy. Telltale uses the same engine and same gameplay template for each of their titles, which are in themselves pretty simple from a gameplay point of view. It's mostly the writing that seems to be time consuming for Telltale from my outsider perspective.

I'm a bit concerned about the workload Telltale's handling. TWD Season 2 turned out to be less good than S1 and it came out at roughly the same period of that TWAU I believe. Does anyone else think that Telltale's trying to work on more than they can?

They generally have a small amount of people setting up the framework of the game before having a normal sized team work on the game. They did the same thing with Walking Dead: Season 1 during Jurassic Park/Back to the Future, and I imagine they did the same with Game of Thrones and Borderlands while they worked on Walking Dead: Season 2 and Wolf Among Us.
