GTA 5. I like it... but it got so much praise?
Skyrim. Maybe I just dislike open world games.
MINECRAFT. I mean there are a lot of haters for it but its just so popular I had to put it in
Do not get me wrong; this game is bloody magnificent and sets a certain bar to judge games by. But people keep on treating it like it is the second coming.
I can understand why people wouldn't like FNAF. TBH I am only following the story of the series. Though with how cryptic Scott Cawthon has tried to be, I doubt fans will ever know the whole truth.
But mostly, I love the story, and considering I was always absolutely terrified of the Chucky Cheese and Disney World Animatronics, the whole thing hit really close to my fears as a child. It was almost like, confirming something I knew was just wrong. Animatronics are EVIL! lol
* MineCraft because the amount of kids in the servers.
* FNAF woah seriously? All you have to do is to wait for cheap jump Scares? No offe… morense though
3.Assassins creed series it has like 1K of missions, when you finish the game you will be asking yourself "what I'm doing with my life?"
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

86 on Metacritic is your definition of "just an okay score"?! Also, it's not just reviews. Take in general fan reaction too, it has a lot of ppl that love it 100%
Okay this may piss some people off considering this is a telltale forum, but screw it this is my opinion and how I feel. Okay so it isn't the most overrated game of all time, but it definitely is overpraised. Not to say it is a terrible game by any means, but in my opinion it is meh at best. Boring unoriginal characters that just seem like rip offs of the Starks in many ways, not alot of action, and poor use of some of the show characters(looking at you Ramsay). I will give the game one thing episode 4 was pretty good.
The Assasin's creed series. (really, I think it sucks)
The Uncharted series ( I enjoy it, but it is not the greatest masterpiece ever as many believe)
Life is Strange (Good concept, terrible characters)
Half Life series - The best thing about HL was the engine. The story was generic and convoluted, the characters weren't very interesting and the gameplay was dull and unsatisfing.
Life is Strange. Now don't get me wrong, I like this game. I think it's fairly decent. But man does it have a lot of issues. The graphics are sub-par at best, the writing feels cluttered, the voice acting is the equivalent of an elementary school play, and the pacing felt really awkward to me. But in all fairness, the game does actually have a fairly decent storyline and while Max and Chloe do start out as cliched cardboard cutouts, they actually do grow a lot more identifiable over time. It's got a lot of negative aspects, but in my opinion the positive aspects outweigh it.
But a lot of people praise this game as the best non-Telltale point and click adventure game as well as one of the best games of 2015. I like this game, but man I never quite understood all this hype around it.
The graphics aren't sub par at all. It's a graphical style just like Telltale have. Dontnod have gone for a more flat based colour cartoon style then a realistic highly textured one.
This style allows a highly colourful palette - something we've lacked a lot outside of Nintendo in recent years - and can also add to the atmosphere in scenes greatly.

You know at first i felt sad since this has always been one of my favorite games and it bummed me up to see that you were disappointed with it. But to be perfectly honest i find this halarious since i always found it to be one of the most underated games of all times. And im not saying it didn't get huge praise. I mean NOBODY EVER talks about it. Even with its sequel coming up its like " They annoced FALLOUT 4 HELL YEAH oh yeah and Dishonored 2...cool i guess"
I don't think it's the most overrated game ever but for myself one of my biggest disappointments today
I bought it after seeing all the r… moreeviews being so high and I just find the game so boring, the gameplay is meh pretty average this game is more about avoiding any conflict then facing it which bores me even though I usually love them sort of games like AC, Arkham, Tomb Raider etc but that had better gameplay for stealth imo and each section I find boring to explore not as rewarding or interesting as some games like tlou/bioshock infinite/Arkham etc
Saying all this not saying it's a bad game I was just so hyped for it and playing it I just feel personally really bored and uninterested the story started solid and the gameplay did but after a few levels it grew stale for me
Black Ops 2, World at War, Far Cry 4, DA:I, AC 4 and Unity, GTA V, Fallout 3 and NV, Skyrim, Minecraft, Smash 4, World of Warcraft, and TLOU(I love the game but so overhyped)
The Last Of Us is well made and I understand why it's a masterpiece but... The script was predictable and I wrote a story just like this whe… moren I was little and Ellie helped a few times but that was the easy situations.
Good but nah... It's fanbase can be a real ass sometimes Gamestop gives 8/10 RAGE INTENSIVIES
I think of it kind of like a soft water color, and I absolutely love all the tiny details in the environment. I don't know why people think the graphics are bad, it looks amazing to me.

Skyrim - boring, bland, terribly written, too much hand-holding, lack of actual RPG mechanics and meh soundtrack. By far the most overrated game of all time.
GTA IV - Some call V overrated and while it is, it does not come close to the poorly founded hype IV got upon its release when it was plagued by a boring world, dodgy driving controls and strange gun mechanics (specifically the aiming).
Arkham City - now, don't get me wrong, this is a great game. But what confuses me is that so many many critics lined up to jack it off upon release and label it as a game that would redefine sandbox adventure games. Yet, when I play through it, it does not actually innovate much its predecessor didn't already do and even then it was very basic stuff, nothing groundbreaking.
Halo 4 - some people called this the best Halo game and FPS of all time. When in reality it is a VERY BAD Halo game with unbalanced multiplayer, a 3 hour single player mode and the spec ops inspired mode that was so pointless it redefined the term. I still die of laughter remembering IGN giving the game a 9.8, higher than The Witcher 3, Half-Life, Wind Waker, and many more games that really are clearly quite superior.

Never said you were a child, read my comment again, I just said many children watch play throughs on YouTube instead of playing them. There… more are so many games that deserve an overrated title.. Destiny.. Titanfall.. Etc yet he calls out the last of us xd. Just because it's his opinion doesn't mean it can't be wrong it's like me saying " in my opinion hitler loved Jews" it's just wrong...
The last of us is the only game that lived up to the general hype
If it's any consolation. I too think The Last of Us was a masterpiece. And I don't care about any of this hype train shit, I pre-ordered it … moreand bought it the day it was released. I made damn sure not to look up any reviews or spoilers. So I went in knowing zip. And finishing it, I can say it's one of the better post-apocalyptic games out there.
Objectively, there isn't much to complain about. The action was intense and combat was fun while posing a challenge. The story, although at times predictable, had enough twists that it kept characters fresh and interesting. Hell, even the online was amazing. And I thought it would be some tacked on shit.
And there's a scene that rivals even that of TWD season one's ending in my personal opinion. The goddamn deaths of two of my favorite NPC's. Sam and Henry, that scene really hit hard. Hell, about as hard as TWD season one's farewell.

Just listen to that fucking voice acting, honestly.
It grabbed me by surprise. And even so, there's no denying that the voice acting was top-tier levels of heartfelt and painful.
The way Brandon Scotts (Henry) voice cracked and tore is really hard to listen to.

So glad you included #7. I think the concept is cool, but the characters drive me nuts... -_-
And we all know from the title that it is the third coming.
So the first Witcher game was the first coming of Jesus?

No, I was taking what you said out of context. The context of my reply was that The Witcher 3 was the third coming of the Witcher series.
Dear god, how did I misunderstand that?
The Assasin's creed series. (really, I think it sucks)
The Uncharted series ( I enjoy it, but it is not the greatest masterpiece ever as many believe)
Life is Strange (Good concept, terrible characters)
I haven't played it yet, but the steam sale made me laugh.
Exactly!
Love that avatar by the way. ;D
When a Rhys isn't enough and a Jack is too much, this is Handsome Rhys for you kiddo.
Well it certainly works!
Why's that? I'm not on the Steam train... XD
After replaying the entire game I decided to give the MP a try today. You're right about it being underrated. So much fun.
EDIT: The game was even better than I remember it. God, The Last of Us is a masterpiece.
How dare you...

would love to read it
Most good games are overrated.
I think of it kind of like a soft water color, and I absolutely love all the tiny details in the environment. I don't know why people think the graphics are bad, it looks amazing to me.
Probably because they've grown up on 360 and PS3 where everything was brown, black and grey.

This was sooooo predictable...

I've heard better.
So have I, but it was still top-tier.
I thought it was low-tier, but that's just me.
How so?
Just didn't find it very believable. Whenever somebody spoke during this scene, I almost bursted into laughter.
