My dad had an Atari 2600 and a Commodore 64, and my dad played with me on those when I was little. But, I really don't have a lot of memories of those (I was really, really little, like probably 3 or 4. I do remember that my dad played Golf on Atari 2600 so much that it caused burn-in on our TV set).

The first system that I played a ton of was my dad's PC AT computer (which, later became mine when I showed a knack for computers after playing on it). The first console that I ever could claim as my own was a NIntendo Entertainment System, which I got for Christmas with the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt cartridge. Duck Hunt was a fun little diversion, but our whole family played the heck out of Super Mario Bros. (my mom's favorite level was the first underwater level, my dad's favorite was the first mushrooms in the sky level, mine was the first underground level).

What got me into gaming was either Super Mario Bros. on the NES or Space Quest II on the IBM PC AT, as I'm not sure which I played first, but I have fond memories of both. But, I can definitely say that Super Mario Bros. got me into console gaming, and Space Quest II got me into computer gaming.

  • Oh ok

  • Yeah, Freddi Fish... I probably still have it lying around somewhere. I haven't played it since I was like eight though. Honestly I watched a video of it (from a youtuber called brutalboose which PeanutButterGaming guest starred in) and it didn't seem like something I'd ever play nowadays.

RTC was awesome! I was a little sociopath in that game! I'd buy a slice of land outside of my park's boundaries and turn it into my own little gulag. If a visitor was unsatisfied or angry, I'd dump him there and leave him to rot. If my employees did a bad job, they might tragically "fall into the lake" and disappear. ;) Some people are just accident prone. Such a shame

No one escapes Merry Meadows. No one.

  • Age of Empires 1. PC, obviously.

  • I didn't do that for the most part. I remember making kingdom come-like parks where I'd let them in but then delete the entente path.

The most vivid detail of it I remember is that little video on the menu that would show a roller coaster being built. I'd always start it, hide under the desk and hope someone walked up to the computer and think it was doing it on its own. XD

But the first game that I ever feel completely in love with and had to have, despite the fact that I could never beat it (but have only once beaten it in my 23 years of life on the Wii) is The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time.

    Bonus:

Link was my first crush I ever had on a Video Game character... up until I was like, 14... I was a messed up child.. XD

  • First Video Game: Yoshi's Island

    First System: Game Boy Advance

  • I got Sega Master System first because for me it looked better than the NES and I for some reason loved the game cases of the Master System.

And I got it for one last defining reason: it had Rocky The Video Game. Even then I was still a huge fan of Rocky.
