Yeah, the whole "theyre abandoning their fanbase" thing is super silly to me. It sounds like those fans who just want them to do one property forever and nothing else. And on that note, if it is designed for a younger fanbase, what is wrong with that? It seems like just good business to appeal to as many fanbases as possible.
Can't please everyone. Especially when Telltale, a video game company, wants to make a different kind of video game that's right up their al… morely and is popular as hell. I'm sure any other business would jump on this opprutinity given the chance.
Telltale aren't abondoning their fan base since we're still getting S3 of TWD and some new stuff down the line. If ya feel this game isn't for you just ignore it and go play something else you like. Problem solved...even though their isn't one to begin with.
True that. Nothing wrong with staying in touch with their younger audience with this game. Telltale has a broad spectrum of games that could appease everyone, but not every game is for everyone. I'm sure old fans will get so good stuff later down the line.

History repeats, it is a circle.
But I have learn my lesson from doubting Tales from the Borderlands. I will keep an open mind on the gam… moree and watch some gameplay once it gets out before deciding whatever or not I should buy it. As for now, it looks interesting.
Might I also point out, in addition to what KCohere said, that if I wanted to be a complete idiot, I could use the 'cash grab' insult when it comes to further sequels of The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us. Sure, there might not be the same amount of potential sales as Minecraft has, but it's clear there's a market for TWAU S2 (though sale figures were never released). I mean, afterall, it seems like Telltale are taking a gamble with the Minecraft game as it's different from the game it's based on when they could have just taken the safe route and made a second season, assuming sales were good enough.

jep. And the Worst thing was the Hate about Tales Mixed with the Hate about TWD S2 made These Forum a Not fun Place to be, but with Tales and got, this Forum is Better Then ever.
Most people didn't believe Telltale couldn't make a good story with the Borderlands universe. The claims were that Borderlands didn't have a story (or that it had a thin one that was just an excuse to shoot things) and that its humor just used memes. You couldn't go a day without someone insulting the project, just like it is today with Minecraft. Hell, whenever Telltale announces a new project it almost always receives backlash. The Walking Dead was bashed, The Wolf Among Us was bashed, Game of Thrones was also bashed, but it wasn't too bad for it, now it's Minecraft's turn at bat.
This is nothing more than a name to me. I don't know anything about the gameplay. All I know is it has become a global gaming phenomenon enjoyed by millions of people. It just so happens that Telltale Games is making their own spin-off of it. I freaking love Telltale. I won't be buying it, but it'd be pretty stupid of me to give them shit for doing this instead of something I like.
This applies to both this and Tales From The Borderlands. Hey, maybe Minecraft: Story Mode is going to be fantastic. As a Telltale fan, I hope so...then maybe I'll consider giving it a try. But for now, I'll gladly enjoy Game Of Thrones and wait for more zombie goodness from Telltale.

Same, Tales looked like it was it going to be fun and clever from the first trailer and with this I'm not sure what to think, if the trailer is any indication it doesn't really look like my style of humour, I'm not like salty about it or anything, I just don't particularly care about it, plus there are more companies trying this sort of thing now so I don't have to rely on Telltale for it and from what I've seen I really should be playing Dreamfall Chapters.
I wont judge it yet, but Im not really excited yet. For example, I was a little nervous about Tales from the Borderlands, but when I saw the trailer, I wanted to get it. When I saw this trailer, Im not so sure
Yup. As others said, the reaction to a Borderlands Telltale game was very similar to the Minecraft game. In place of people fearing "Minecraft kiddies," they thought that "rowdy FPS fans" would invade the forums. Similarly, in place of the "Minecraft has no story" argument, people said the Borderlands universe was shallow and the stories in each game were just about memes and guns. As icing on the cake, people accused Telltale of being sellouts and making a game based off of a highly popular gaming franchise only for the money. Of course, there is no way a Telltale Borderlands game could ever be even remotely decent - Telltale doesn't care about the source material and they only want to shove in Telltale's story-based gameplay where it doesn't belong!
That, and "Minecraft" and "Borderlands" were two franchises that I wasn't particularly interested in, but I knew about both of them since they are well known names in video game culture.
Because writing a story for an open world sandbox construction game isn't an easy undertaking. Aside from how the animation looks like a child's Machinima, the main character is currently unlikeable, and their choice to NOT use a silent protagonist, is confusing to me. I know that it's not in keeping with how Telltale usually makes games, but if I'm supposed to believe that it's "My Story - My Choices", then I'd really appreciate having a player character who doesn't say shit.
Also, not using either Steve or Alex as characters is another confusing one to me. This isn't "Minecraft: The Adventures of Jessie and the Fucked Up Facial Rigs", no. This is THE DEFINITIVE STORY to Minecraft, that they're making. It'd make a whole lot more sense to at least involve the thematic main character of the game, in their spinoff.

You are literally one of the people hating on it just to hate on it. If this was a childs Machinima I would be fucking impressed. However, I do think that the animation does get iffy at parts.
Main character unlikable? We have seen less than a minute of him with barely any dialogue or idea of his character.
Silent protagonist? You want every dialogue option to be "..."? Having a character that speaks has worked pretty well for Telltale so far.
Not using Steve or Alex confuses you? It's a spin off like you said. It has nothing to do with the main game and it's not supposed to be exactly like Minecraft. Telltale even said when they had first announced it was that it wasn't going to be exactly Minecraft. It would look like Minecraft and would be very familiar to Minecraft but it wouldn't be Minecraft.
Finally, who ever said it was the "definitive" story to Minecraft. The point of Minecraft is that you yourself are the ones making the story. Telltale is just using the world to make their own story.

I've never hated on any of Telltale's upcoming projects and have always kept an open mind. I think it's really due to how members of the Telltale fan community always expect the same things over and over again. Minecraft is different, so BAM, it's hated like the plague. The Telltale community is eerily similar to the local shop in Royston Vasey seen in The League of Gentlemen. Any entertainment media not seen as 'local' (as in, adapted into a game by Telltale) is immediately shunned.
Telltale are first and foremost about adapting all kinds of media into episodic video game format, and there are always going to be franchises that people here will be unfamiliar with yet will still have Telltale games made out of them. They've built up a track record of being unpredictable and erratic when it comes to game adaptations. I mean, they went from making lighthearted Wallace and Gromit games to making freaking Walking Dead games just like that. No one asked for it, yet they were all still good.
Some of the reasonings for why certain franchises shouldn't be adapted are still ridiculous. I can't comprehend how anyone could have thought a Telltale-written adaptation of freaking Fables could possibly be terrible while it was still in production, but hey, there you go.
Alright, I'll give my opinion for whatever it's worth. First, I'd like to say it's fear. For example, you wouldn't go see a movie you think would suck. There are many movies out there with continuing parts. You LOVED the first one, then they announce they're making a second. You'd be worried it wouldn't be as good as the first. Different actors, plot, etc. But made by the same writer with the same director. You see the trailer, you love it, you go watch it. Now, you can either hate it or love it. The trailer doesn't decide that, the movie as a whole does. It's the same with games. Different name. Different plot, everything but the same company, in this case: Tell Tales Games. There are people who made remakes of movies, some say it'd be bad but ended up loving it. This is the same. The fear is there. You will be putting money into playing it. You will be putting time into it. The only reason you don't fully trust it is because it's new. People bought the Walking Dead S2 without a thought because it's still the same title and same company - there were doubts but not nearly as much because it's the same everything except for plot and other bits. Some people are just more trusting and open minded to give new things a try. This is where my part two comes in: Judging a book by it's cover. In this case a game by it's trailer. I am sure SOMEONE has went to see a movie with a friend they think they were going to absolutely hate because they thought the trailer was crap but ended up loving it. Happened to me more than once. You want to know what the game will look like, feel like, be about, etc before you buy it because you want to like it. You want to look at it and go "Yes, this IS worth it". Same with a book. You read the back, think "This sounds so interesting!" and you get it. Yet it could turn out to be crap. People have to give new things a chance and it's hard for most. Minecraft, yes, it's mainly for younger kids/teens. It's also a brand new thing Tell Tales has brought to the table. I will say this. Everyone of you has either loved or hated one game by Tell Tales at first but then fell in love. Haters and supporters. You believe this will be different because it's Minecraft? Do you have no more faith in the people who made the games you love so much and want more seasons of? Are you that easily swayed because it's a new title and you fear it'll fail? Are you going to judge on name and trailer alone? It's not just trust. It's faith. I do not know about you, about either side, but I will put my faith in Tell Tales since they have given me games that I love and found entertainment and joy from. I don't care how cliche this sounds, it's true. Hate all you'd like, support all you like. Either way, in the end you'll see another great game from Tell Tales, if that isn't true, then just look at the games you said you'd hate but love now. Minecraft as a type of new game? That sounds interesting to me. Let's see where this goes, everyone.
Idk, probably because S2 was good but still disappointing, they refuse to make a TWAU S2, TFTBL episodes take a year to come out, GOT has issues and doesn't start for people and crashes as soon as you open the game, the only news you get are tweets from Voice Actors (it's like they're the new PR for TTG) you only get real news like a day before the release, and most of the time the episodes are just okay.
This is all coming from someone who loves TTG a lot. Although TTG are my favorite game company, they have issues they need to work out and i'm pretty sure they will deal with them--- SOON. All jokes aside, i love TTG and can't wait for TWDM and new TFTBL episodes.
Technically we don't know the reason behind why a second season hasn't been announced. You can't just say that they refuse to make another one. For all we know there could be some licensing issues that need to be resolved, as they had only signed on to make the one game. Maybe they feel that they've done enough for Fables. Maybe they're just waiting for the right time to announce something (When the Fables comics officially end which is soon, please Telltale please).

You never know. They have a LOT of projects going on at once right now. Once Game of Thrones Season One ends, they'll focus more on the other games previous. They wouldn't just jump into a new season or series without planning things out. And everything takes time. Maybe in December another Season will be out. That's about 6 months. A lot can happen.
If Marvel all the way in 2017 was announced, why hasn't TWAU S2 been announced?
Even if they have a lot going on, they still could've announced a second season, they did it with TWD S3. Greg Miller just needs to bug TTG some more.
EDIT: I also think i heard Job say they're also working on original projects as well. I personally can't wait for that. TTG needs more of their own original games.

This isn't the definitive story of Minecraft. In fact, it's been stated that it wasn't in those exact words. It's just a game set in the universe of Minecraft, and is a side game to the adventures of Steve and Alex. Much like how Telltale's The Walking Dead showed what was happening in The Walking Dead universe from a perspective other than Rick Grimes.

its not that i don't trust telltale its that i don't have a single interest or the slightest respect for minecraft as a whole even the trailer wasn't enough to win me over
The reason why they were able to announce The Walking Dead Season Three already was because they don't have to negotiate a new contract every time they want to do a game based on The Walking Dead. Telltale already had a long term deal in place to make multiple seasons of The Walking Dead when they signed their original license.
If Telltale is negotiating rights for a second season of The Wolf Among Us (which they would have to do if they wanted to make more games based on Fables, as since Telltale's license for Fables never included multiple games, Telltale's contract with Bill Willingham and Vertigo only gave them the rights to make one season), then they wouldn't be able to announce a new game until all of the stipulations of the new license are approved by Telltale, Bill Willingham, and Vertigo. That could take quite a bit of time.
Telltale is making a game with an original intellectual property. It will be their first super show (which will be both a television show and a game season, with the majority choices of the game somehow affecting the television show). Details of Telltale's Super Show will be revealed at Comic Con, which is happening between now and the next couple of days.

They would've said something if they were making another season
No, no they wouldn't have. Especially if they aren't making the season RIGHT NOW. And I'm perfectly fine laughing my ass off right here thank you very much.
I said they would've. WOULD'VE. They would've said something if they were making another season, but they aren't so they haven't said anything.
Laugh your ass off somewhere else.
A year isn't a long time when it comes to contract negotiations, especially when you have three parties involved. The Wolf Among Us was signed at a time before Telltale was a well known company. Now that the situation has changed, it's likely they'll want the terms changed too. Negotiating better terms than were in the original contract can take a lot longer than a year.
I'm not sure you read the rest of my post. I didn't just mention your post about The Wolf Among Us, I actually responded about your mention of Telltale working on an original property. You'll find it at the bottom of my reply above.
Wolf Among Us ended a year ago, that's quite a bit of time. With all the GOTY awards and nominations, a second season could've been mentioned.
I like how no one paid attention to rest of my post, just the small mention of TWAU. That's amazing.
I initially had the same knee-jerk reaction in reverse for the Walking Dead. I hate zombies. Never liked zombie stories at all. But I liked Telltale. Hearing they were making a TWD game made me... well a bit upset. I loved their comedic games, and I started playing because of their Sam and Max and Strong Bad titles.
And then I actually played the game; zombies or otherwise, Telltale has a great bunch of writers. The TWD game is still the only zombie related thing I'll ever recommend to anyone.
If Telltale can do that for zombies, my favorite game to unwind after a long day of work (Minecraft) is going to be at the*** very least***, interesting and engaging for me.
One of the best things about Telltale's recent titles is the dialogue options. I would not want to see them scrapped, which you would have to do with a silent protagonist. Which is exactly why they're not using Steve or Alex. If Telltale gave them voices, Minecraft fans would be pissed off, and if they didn't, they would be setting aside one of their best mechanics.

You don't seem to get what I'm saying at all. To put it basically, they don't have to be making a season 2 right now for there to be a season 2. And calm down.

Regardless, they still won't make a second season.
Because they might not have any plans to make another season right now?
Da Fuq? TTG plans ahead, and they would've said something by now.
Lmao, yes they plan ahead, IF they even have a game planned. If there's no game to plan what planning will they be doing?
This isn't the definitive story of Minecraft. In fact, it's been stated that it wasn't in those exact words. It's just a game set in the universe of Minecraft, and is a side game to the adventures of Steve and Alex. Much like how Telltale's The Walking Dead showed what was happening in The Walking Dead universe from a perspective other than Rick Grimes.
its not that i don't trust telltale its that i don't have a single interest or the slightest respect for minecraft as a whole even the trailer wasn't enough to win me over
There is two words that I'd like Telltale to say to some of the people.
STOP. BITCHING.
Wolf Among Us ended a year ago, that's quite a bit of time. With all the GOTY awards and nominations, a second season could've been mentioned.
I like how no one paid attention to rest of my post, just the small mention of TWAU. That's amazing.
I said they would've. WOULD'VE. They would've said something if they were making another season, but they aren't so they haven't said anything.
Laugh your ass off somewhere else.
No, no they wouldn't have. Especially if they aren't making the season RIGHT NOW. And I'm perfectly fine laughing my ass off right here thank you very much.
No, they can make any game. Hell, I don't fucking give two shits if they made a new Sam and Max game or if they made a Call of duty game.
As long as they don't make a Telltale Game's My little Pony, Minecraft, Roblox I'll be fine.
Oh my god. They would have said something if they were making a season but they aren't so they haven't. HOW FUCKING DIFFICULT IS THAT TO UNDERSTAND?
You don't seem to get what I'm saying at all. To put it basically, they don't have to be making a season 2 right now for there to be a season 2. And calm down.
Whatever. I apologize for losing my cool.
