I know what you mean. I didn't even realize it was Batman until I started seeing the bat symbol. My exact thoughts were "Really, they're making another Batman game, didn't they just get done making...HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID THAT JUST SAY A TELLTALE GAME SERIES?!"
There is a very high chance that those will be episodic, just like all of their games. That's who they are and how they run things. It's not gonna change.
So Telltale is covering both DC and Marvel bases. Should be a good couple of years for them. Maybe they'll be able to move away from this episodic crap.
...I don't understand. That's Michonne, Season 3, Super Show, and Batman all in the same year. I suppose they'd have to start a lot sooner then we thought...

Jesus Christ, what a time to be a fan of Telltale!
Even those guys who worked with Arkham series understood that even after the Joker was dead, it was important to include his character as the Joker is important in any game where you control the Batman.
And would they be able to get Mark Hamill behind this too?

Well it's just that every time someone brings up how annoying this approach is, someone says that Telltale does it because they're a small company and traditionally they were getting the budget for the next episode from the sales of the previous episode... which now both seem like BS arguments to me. Now they're just continuing making episodic games because that's what they're used to.

Real talk though, this is honestly pretty crazy, just comes out of nowhere. I'm really interested to see how this plays out but the question is how exactly are they going to make this stand above the other iterations of the character without treading any familiar ground cause there's a shit ton of Batman stories out there as well as origins.
I honestly don't think it'll be bad. Walking Dead fans had a similar mentality when Borderlands was announced because they thought that "FPS Kiddies" would "invade" the forums but the crowd that Borderlands brought was very civil, and the two groups mixed fine.
Telltale has done the impossible, brought Marvel and DC together and are now making games for both companies. That shows the power of Telltale right there.

I'm sure it won't be bad at all. There's actually quite a bit of overlap between comic fans, to be honest. And every forum that I've ever been to has both Marvel and DC (or at least Marvel and Batman) threads, and things have always been civil in them.

I'm excited about this too. I'm more of a Marvel fan, but I really like Batman. And the fact that Telltale is making both a Marvel and a Batman game has me super excited.
I honestly haven't been this excited for a reveal of a new franchise since they announced Back to the Future: The Game.
I have to be honest, how the hell will Telltale pull this off? There's already four other Batman games out right now that do a brilliant job in putting you in the shoes of the Dark Knight and they have so much content that basically gives you everything you'd expect in a Batman game even with the story. Not even games, but there's so many other versions of the character along with dozens or so different takes on the origin and there's even a good number of stories that have dozens or so elements from other comics or films or even games, so how is Telltale's story going to stand out without recycling many different assets from other works?

From the blog description,
“This iteration of Batman will give fans a first-hand opportunity to dive deeper into the complex life and mind of Bruce Wayne, the duality of his own identity, and the struggle of responsibility in saving a city overcome with corruption and villainy.”
I'm guessing it will have a nice split with Bruce Wayne and Batman. Rather than just pretty much Batman like the Arkham Series.
I don't see how Telltale will fully go with that decision considering they've abandoned the whole adventure game style since Walking Dead S1 of course that would be a really nice change of pace but I feel that might not happen. I'm excited, but Telltale REALLY need to think about this cause I don't want Batman in an ocean of QTEs or extremely simple puzzle solving as I feel it needs to be more than that in order to stand out cause the story is probably going to be a Batman story everyone's already seen or heard of before.

Walking dead, batman, minecraft, and super show. Doesn't seem that crowded?
I know what you mean. I didn't even realize it was Batman until I started seeing the bat symbol. My exact thoughts were "Really, they're making another Batman game, didn't they just get done making...HOLY FUCKING SHIT DID THAT JUST SAY A TELLTALE GAME SERIES?!"
Now if only telltale would actually change its game engine.....

The real question is.
Can they write "the Joker" well?
Or will they chicken out and not include him.
Even those guys who worked with Arkham series understood that even after the Joker was dead, it was important to include his character as the Joker is important in any game where you control the Batman.
And would they be able to get Mark Hamill behind this too?
Fleshed-out detective system would be nice.
Looking forward to the overloaded quick-time events.
Season 3 probably isn't coming in 2016. That, and we were supposed to get Michonne this year but it was just a late premiere because of the delay.
Still, though, I wonder if Job was hinting that Game of Thrones Season 2 comes in 2016 or not.
Batman and Marvel TTG games, huh? That's pretty interesting to see.
It's horrifying knowing there's going to be two fanbases that hate each other with their own sections....

To be fair, GoT and Tales were both slated to start in 2014, and their first episodes came out in December.
Don't you mean it'll be fun?
"This is going to be fun..."

Really glad I'm not a mod.
How will the forums be? It's like having two people who hate each other forced in a small room with their own desk and a few windows...

OMG I JUST SAW THIS ON INSTAGRAM AND THOUGHT IT WAS BULLSHIT LOL, I WAS WRONG- BATMAN'S COMING
I want it NOOOWWWW!!!

Aren't they already doing a Marvel project? I really hope they don't get overencumbered with all these projects

BATMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN
We will see. Do you know where I can get a Batman logo for my avatar? I need it now.
But alas, I couldn't find one. I tried to get the Jumped the Shark one, but I can't download the picture. Help me Batm-Blind, you are my only help.

They've been hiring like crazy lately, and the Marvel project isn't coming out until 2017, while Batman is coming out in 2016.
MOM! The CD is skipping again!
Oh. My. God. <heavy breathing> I am so hyped already. BATMAN.
I'm excited about this too. I'm more of a Marvel fan, but I really like Batman. And the fact that Telltale is making both a Marvel and a Batman game has me super excited.

Wow, I am impressed. Finally a game they announce that I'm legitimately excited about.
Some have specualted that it will focus more on Batman's detective aspect of his character, kind of like The Wolf Among Us and Bigby.
Wow, this is soooooo crazy, I can hardly believe it (pinching my self again).
I just hope they make it dark, and not campy.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! I'm seriously... I can't even.... WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that a lot of games have done a brilliant job of putting you in the shoes of the Dark Knight
but few batman games have down a good job putting you in the shoes of Bruce wayne and really exploring the duality of the character
( even the arkham games really failed at that in my opinion )
I actually think telltale could make a very unique batman game if they focused on Bruce wayne and the double life he lives
