Games that perhaps werent big successes, yet you enjoyed playing them.

A game that I enjoyed playing was Alpha Protocol. I'll say more about the game later.

Although Fallout 4 was a great success, in my country (Russia) almost everyone hates it .I can say it's one of the most overhated games here ,but I really enjoyed it .Of course it wasn't as good as NV or f1 and f2 but I found it a really great game and was very suprised when everyone were calling it trash and saying that I have a terrible taste in videogames.

Tzar: The Burden of the Crown.

A lot of people don't know this title. It's a very old RTS game made on Warcraft 2 engine. Since a lot of people don't know about its existence, it wasn't a big success. But boy, I loved it. The fictional world the campaign takes place in, the characters etc. are well written. I spent a lot of time in the map editor and downloaded some of the fans' maps but I still felt discontent seeing how little of it there is. Also one of the first games I played on PC.

Also Might and Magic Heroes VII that came out in Autumn 2015. A lot of people boycott this game because:

    1. It was made by Ubisoft
    2. It's not as good as Heroes III (I swear one day I'll slaughter the H3 fandom...)
    3. There were a lot of bugs (I haven't experienced any)
    4. Its campaigns were dull (although they have one of the best stories I've ever experienced)
    5. Ancient graphics (I don't really look at graphics, I loved Tzar for crissake)

I love it. Every single bit.

  • Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects.

Lots of consumers hated it and the critics weren't much kinder, but I really enjoyed playing it with my friends when I was younger. I hated the story mode, but I hardly played that. I played it specifically to fight one on one with other Marvel characters. And I wasted so many hours having fun with that. It was a big part of my childhood and I can't bring myself to hate it.

  • The Sims 4.
The backlash the game got on the forums ... enter image description here

But i really love the game. The way the Sims act and look are a lot of fun for me.

  • The Forbidden Siren series, the Shadow Hearts series, Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter, Haunting Ground, Hotel Dusk and Last Window, the list goes on.

  • Fallout 4 didn't grab my attention in the same way F3 and New Vegas did, but it did have a few good aspects that I hope come back for the next game.

  • Valkyria Chronicles: Irony aside it sold better when it was released on PC 6 years after it came out on console if that say anything. It was a AAA quality game that reviewers and players alike loved, but sales wise it was an utter failure, and did only moderately well in Japan so much so they made an anime TV series trying to bolster sales of the game itself. No one I guess wanted an anime looking strategy game at the time. Though that wasn't the end of the story. After it's success on Steam SEGA realized the franchise has a user base much larger now than ever as the game has done better popularity wise as gamers have gone back and experimented through word of mouth and internet post on titles they missed years before. SEGA later last year announced a PS4 HD release, and a new Spin off Semi Sequel also for the PS4 to boot.

Steambot Chronicles: Considered a hidden Gem on the Playstation 2 by gamers today this game was exactly what it was, a 3rd party game released by Atlus but made by Irem of Japan. It never stood a chance in heck of being as successful as other PS2 titles, but it did gain a strong following by most people who eventually found this game in their library. Since it's release it's become relatively popular over the years as a hidden gem. Tragically when the Tsunami hit Irem's sequel to Steambot Chronicles was cancelled. Fans were literally heart broken, but understood why greatly.

  • The Order:1886

  • Star wars battlefront

  • L.A. Noire

  • I enjoyed Watch Dogs and thought it was an okay game at best, in my opinion it wasn't terrible.

  • Jazzpunk. It's only two hours long, but it's two hours of pure fucking fun.

Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series.

  • Murdered: Soul Suspect and Sims 4.

  • I enjoyed Metal Gear Solid 5 Phantom Pain though I never ever planned to play it. I played the fourth game before but never finished it because it was boring. MGS 5 WAS such an enjoyable game, the best MGS game, I loved the missions, characters and my favourite character is Quiet, hottest girl of the entire game. What I didn't like about it is the 10-20 minutes taker cutscenes (Always getting tired when watching them), enemies who take 30 minutes to take out and no option to have both my horse and Quiet at the same time in a mission (Very disappointing). One of the best 2015 games I have played.

  • Star Wars Battlefront (2015): I agree that it's overpriced, and there definitely could be a bit more content. But for what it is, I really like Star Wars Battlefront. It doesn't get old fast like others have said, at least for me! I still get into tense and fun situations, and Darth Vader is still terrifying when I encounter him in a dark hallway. Mostly I play Walker Assault, because I just have fun on it all the time! Sadly the PC playerbase is the smallest of all three consoles (The others being Xbox and PS), but I still manage to find full games! Yes it's very flawed, but I enjoy it.

  • The Legend of Korra. It was fun I wish it had more story plot also more dialog from Korra's team it feeled really limited.

    1. It was made by Ubisoft

    2. It's not as good as Heroes III (I swear one day I'll slaughter the H3 fandom...)

Come at me, bro. Heroes haven't been the same since the IV and we have Ubisoft to thank for that.

  • Probably any installment of Heroes of Might and Magic before Ubisoft put its greedy French fingers on the series. The games weren't immensely popular, so I think they count.

Final Fantasy 12. Sure it's a success in the sense that it got good reviews and such, but I never really seen any people (not counting reviewers) saying how great it was, or hell, I haven't even seen people talking about it. So I'll say that.

  • I really enjoyed soul suspect, it was a great modern take on the point and click genre, too bad the company went bust before they could develop a patch.

Murdered: Soul Suspect and Sims 4.

One of my most favourite childhood games. I-Ninja. :3

There was going to be a sequel as the first (and only) one ended on a cliffhanger, but sadly the company that made this closed down and the initial game didn't sell that well. I'll never get to see the sequel in action besides a few concept images. :c

    Beyond Good and Evil.
Not many people know about the game and it didn't sell well. I realy liked the game but never defeated it

It was beautifil and creepy at the same time

There is a sequel in the works according by Ubisoft and as much as I want this game to see the light of day I have a feeling that with Ubisoft having control over it isn't that good.

I feel like no one really knows about this game, but its a very fun twist on a survival game.

  • That game gave me the robo-willies. The feeling of being the inferior species that is now the prey really puts things in a unique perspective.

    Plus, those fucking land-owners.

    Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments

    enter image description here

I picked it up for free on Xbox One and I am pleasantly surprised by it. Solid story, nice graphics, I was honestly guessing the suspects till the end. The voice didn't match some of the characters and it doesn't offer much in the way of gameplay but the puzzles are also legitimately puzzling.

  • Probably because they marketed the game like a generic third person shooter :p

One of my all time favorite games is actually a game that wasn't a big hit, but I'd say it definitely fits in cult classic territory, as every classic gaming convention I've gone to had people mentioning that they enjoyed the game (just finding people who actually played it is a bit hard).

    Headhunter

It was advertised as a Metal Gear Solid clone, which probably hurt sales as it definitely wasn't. There were moments of stealth, but the game wasn't really like that series. So a lot of people probably gave up on it before they could get into the story. The controls are a bit tight (it's definitely a game of it's age - the controls are awkward now, like Shenmue). But if you do give it a chance, the game makes up for it. The level design is actually pretty good in my opinion, and the shooting and stealth sections are fun once you get the hang of the awkward controls.

The story though, that's the game's main strength. It's awesome. It has one of my favorite endings of all time, and not just in video games - but I'd rank it in my top ten including movies and TV shows as well. It's one that's stuck with me over the years, and I still remember it vividly. If you can get to play this some time, I really do recommend it.

  • I picked it up for free too, I haven't played it. You would say it's good?

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments I picked it up for free on Xbox One and I am pleasantly surprised by it. Solid story, nice gr

  • Sleeping Dogs- This got some recognition but never to the levels of GTA recognition, extremely fun open world game.

Deadpool- Fun game with an enjoyable playable character, it's rough in spots, but it's still a good time.

L.A. Noire- Like Sleeping Dogs, this game got some recognition but it didn't exactly reach major recognition levels. Cool detective game with a good story and great atmosphere.

Just Recently: Styx: Master of Shadows- Middle Market game, but REALLY FUN stealth title with a refreshing protagonist and a fascinating fantasy world in the background along with great stealth mechanics.

  • Catherine. Very good game and in my top 10 favorite games ever. It has a great story with multiple endings and fun interesting characters. From the makers of persona too :)

Danganronpa series. Very, Very, Very underrated. Such a fantastic series that is similar to Phoenix Wright. It has fun investigations and gameplay. The trials are super fun and exciting. Plus it has great voice acting and weird yet great characters. It deserves more recognition, but doesn't get it because it is a Vita game series. Though it is on pc now, so it is starting to get some recognition. If you haven't played it yet then play it!

Steambot Chronicles One of those random "Cheap" Gamestop purchases I made that ended up being pennies on the dollar for how much I personally value the game... to me my copy of this game is completely priceless! You'd have to kill me to get it from me literally.

Metal Saga sorry, I um...... Love this to death. I'm a HUGE hater of stereotypical JRPGs, and this is about as stereotypical as they get game play wise. But it was the monsters, enemies and the completely open world go wherever you want feel the game had. You could completely ignore the main story on the game for example and complete like 99% of everything in the game. Kind of like Skyrim or Fallout 3 in that regard. lol The fact you can end the game within the first 5 minutes of gameplay was just pure brilliance like this Lets Play guy found out the LOL way. Personally the most brilliant RPG I've ever played. lol
