Which Among the Prince of Persia Games is your Favorite?

I'm trying to find out which is the best Prince of Persia game. And as far as my research goes, there are many people that say Sands of Time is the Best. I've played Warrior Within way back during the PS2 era but somehow i stopped coz i don't know if there was a glitch (during the Monster chase outside the castle walls- weathered castle look) or i just didn't know what to do then. I also looked at Prince of Persia 2008 in youtube and i really think it looks nice withh the cell shaded look and the companion feature.

You can also Also state why you like or dislike them the most.

  • What's that supposed to do with The Walking Dead?

  • Sands of Time is the best for me, i haven't played the 2008 version though

  • I love the Sands of time series. that saying my fav is the two thrones. there was so much humour in that game. my second fav was the forgotten sands.

  • Which is the worst PoP game? there were many saying Warrior Within because the prince's character became serious, but there are also people saying 2 Thrones is the worst but i don't know why.

  • The first one was awesome. The second one tried too hard to be edgy and "mature". The third one went back to the tone of the first one and gave us the sarcastic Dark Prince character. :D

It's a tie between first and third, to be honest.

  • I've only played sands of time so I can't really give an accurate opinion, sands of time was the shit though.

    1. Sands of Time
    2. The Forgotten Sands
    3. Prince of Persia (reboot)
    4. The Two Thrones
    5. Warrior Within

Sands of Time was great, it had puzzles, simple combat, and was very cool how you got more powerful throughout the game. --- The Forgotten Sands was also nice, it looked good, played well, and had some nice puzzles, but didn't have the same nostalgia as the first. --- The reboot was pretty ok, I liked the simple, easy to use combos during encounters and the open-nature of the bosses. But, it seemed sort of short and the ending was disappointing.

About the last two, I haven't finished either of them. The Two Thrones was fine (considering I'm stuck in the beginning.) and the draining health on the "Dark Prince" was annoying, I couldn't perform the right combos to defeat enemies, and the controls were confusing. Warrior Within was completely different from the original. It was all mature and dark now (a huge change of pace from the original) , and had women in skimpy outfits, who fought and... what? I stopped there, and never touched it since. Too strange.

  • the 2nd wasn't bad because the serious tone. for me it went out of its way to be difficult. the only way to get the true ending is get all the screat water upgrades

I played Sands of Time and Warrior Within and I like second one much more. SoT was ok but also very fairy-tale-like, almost childish. Monsters looked ridiculous. Final boss was treacherous old prick, not a challenge. And the game was TOO SHORT.

Prince in WW looked like a badass. Game was longer. When I thought it's over it was just 1/2. Island was big place to explore. We had a chance to visit locations in present time (ruin) and in past (beautiful). Monsters were interesting, I remember "ninjas" and titans; you had to climb on their back and punch in head. Main boss was huge horned Venom-like demon. I remember how difficult was escaping him; one wrong step and prince was swallowed. Yeah, WW is better game than SoT imo.

  • You people realise sands of time wasnt the first game right?

    1. Sands of Time
    2. Forgotten Sands
    3. Two Thrones
    4. Warrior Within

Warrior Within, yes they went overboard with the mature themes and heavy metal, but the core gameplay is still very good. Prince of Persia 2008 doesn't even get on the list because it was so bad.

  • If you can deal with mechanics that hint at a QTE direction, PoP2008 may be your game.

Personally, I've long since forgotten about the other parts but replay the 2008 game every year. Best art, best music, best characters.

  • yeah, that's what i thought too, WW will be more appealing to the serious hardcore gamers. at times, it was really frustrating especially if you don't have a clue where to go next and everything just crumbles behind you (pirate ship ruin area).

  • i played less than 30 mins of this game, and what i liked so far in this game was that your buddy saves you when you fall and takes you to the most recent platform, which makes the game a little less frustrating than the other PoP games where you have to go back to the start of the area/section.

Warrior Within's prince was selfish and only cared about himself,he was much more of a character in SoT.

  • Selfish? I didn't notice.

Warrior Within's prince was selfish and only cared about himself,he was much more of a character in SoT.

  • His only goal in the game was to save himself, which is not selfish in itself, but due to his new "edgy" personallity, it made him look like an asshole, bordering Kratos' levels of "I don't give a shit unless it benefits me"

  • Did you expect benevolent prince? This jolly demon is chasing our hero:

Really wants to suck him in. Mofo never gives up. In this situation most people would become selfish and "edgy".

  • Only played Sands Of Time, so I guess that one.

  • Again, wanting to save himself is understandable but his edgy personality and also his arrogance make it seem like an asshole, if they'd have kept the personatlity of SoT or at least a more mature version of that prince, his motivations wouldn't have mattered

  • And that was just one of the features that people chose to "not like". It's basically just a fair checkpoint system that preserves narrative coherence. I really liked it, and sometimes I wish that more games would do something similar. :|

Should you ever get to the ending of the game: It's one of the best and most audacious conclusions to any video game ever.

Needless to say, the people who baselessly hated the Elika-saves-you mechanic also didn't understand hence hated the ending, so Ubisoft backpedaled like crazy and released a DLC for consoles that basically shat the original vision of the story in the mouth. Thank god that DLC never released for PC. :)
