  • They're changing their opinion a lot here. We'll see if this truly is how it'll turn out. Apparently the Fisher family even wants her to be in IX. But a high-up at Lucasfilm says no, so she'll probably turn out not be there.

Sad news: Lucasfilms confirmed that Leia won't make an appearance in Episode 9 for obvious reason.

  • Trailer (and poster) looked great.

I'm thinking they might introduce the concept of the "Grey Jedi" in the TLJ.

Especially the OT fans, I always find fanboys bitching about the prequel trilogy. I can tell for The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones but Revenge of the Sith? I feel like I'm the only who loves that movie.

If there is someone to hate, it's George Lucas. I blame him for actors' role and for Jar Jar Binks' existence.

Star Wars fans are the biggest Star Wars haters on the planet.

  • I'm not old enough to have seen the OT in theatres, but I am old enough to have owned the OT on VHS, back when Han shot first. Revenge is probably in my top 3, questionable dialogue aside it had the best fight choreography and enough powerful moments to justify the prequels.

  • Can't wait, saw episode 7 in theatres twice and will likely do so with this one lol

That argument is invalid. I agree that Jar jar is fucking horrible, but Lucas listened to that response and reduced J-J's screen-time to like 4 minutes in AotC, and then later about one scene in RotS. The actors... Well, he couldn't just change actor in the middle of a fucking trilogy. Besides, most of the actors did good, some where horrible cough Hayden cough Christensen cough, and Natalie Portman did they just use in a horrible way. But many others, like the legend Ewan Mc-fucking-Gregor did real good.

I know that George Lucas butchered the series a bit. But he also created it. And I mean still, he made more good SW movies than bad. I enjoyed 2,3,4,5,6. First half of 2 was pretty slow, but then it started of pretty good. All that love shit between Padmé and Anakin was idiotic, but apart from that, I think they did pretty good (I mean, Christopher Lee!!!!).

But that's just my opinion. It's fair to say that he started the prequels by butchering all that SW stood for. But he took in criticism and that we all saw in the second and third movie. I respect your opinion though.

  • Honestly, I don't even blame Hayden for his performance, most of the cringe worthy scenes were less about his acting and more about the terrible dialogue. Lucas just... I love the guy, but he needs to have someone that's not afraid to tell him "no, that's a bad idea."

He was practically a living legend when he went about making the prequels. The original trilogy, not so much. He was heavily at odds with the movie industry back then, and a lot more careful not to alienate any of the people still working with him. I do agree he changed course after TPM, while the dialogue was still eh the series got progressively darker and more focused. It's just sometimes I can't help but feel that rather than being written to be their own movies, the TPM and AOTC were done solely to set up the big payoff in ROTS, if that makes any sense.

  • The dialogue was pretty shit, at the very least every love-dialogue. Lucas himself admitted that he's not great at making dialogue, which I like that he said. What I don't understand is why he kept on writing dialogue though.

  • I know others brought it up, but can we just take a moment to admire the poster for the movie.

    enter image description here

    This is just amazing.

  • The brilliant part of this poster is it's simplicity. You have her holding the lightsaber...but it is the symbol for balance...you have Luke and Kylo on either side....note the blade is both red and blue.

This is very much about walking the middle road and not letting fear keep you from understanding and accepting the dual nature of the force.

I submit, this poster may be one of the best posters in Star Wars history.

  • I found it really boring, same old stuff, force, spacebattles. I liked new Thor trailer better, at least it was something original and different for a change.

  • Super powered beings beating on each other...sounds like something original and different.

  • Well to mee it looked like Guardians of the Galaxy meets The Gadiator. I'd say thats more original than rehashed Empire Strikes Back or New Jope. Prequels where shit but at least they tried to be original. The new Star Wars is just pandering to the nostalgia and in a bada way.

  • Idk, wasn't the main focus of this trailer a new and fresh (at least when it comes to the films) take on the force?

What do you see as pandering in this trailer? I'm honestly curious.

  • Luke is now basically Yoda, a hermit that doesn't really want to teach anyone but will in the end.

  • To be honest if they did something really different people would complain but I do expect Luke to be a teacher and it's predictable he be teaching in the end anyway

  • If they made the KOTOR 1 Revan storyline with a light side ending as a movie the story would work prefectly and most people would love it.

  • We are not even sure if KOTOR is cannon.

As for the prequels....they tried to tell the story of the rise of the Empire and Vader....but they failed miserably.

Why oh why did George not have his talented crew flesh out and edit the shit out of the dialogue he wrote?

Sure The Force Awakens is not high in originality...but it does have memorable characters and Ben Solo comes off as a more believable tortured soul than Anakin Skywalker.

Plus the idea of actually introducing Grey Knights is something that fans have been clamoring for.

So yes in the new movies there will be fleets of ships attacking each other...just like in Thor and every other Super Hero movie there will be a throwdown. And I will enjoy both films.

But neither one will bring originality to the screen...but Star Wars does have the chance of expanding it's universe with new ideas about the force(fuck you prequels).

I don't care if its canon or not, I care if the movie works, Force awakens was mediocore film, good visuals and acting but the dialogue and story was crap. Its basically A New Hope with some gender swaps and a lot more plotholes. A New Hope clearly established how the Empire worked, who was in command and what its goals where, in TFA I have no idea how the Empire works and what its goal is, also the death star 2.0 is stupid and non finctional as it can't actually be moved. Theres just too much stuff like that to actually enjoy the film if youre not braindead.

  • Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?

I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save others from death, but not himself.

  • Ah, good ol' Palpatine.

Say what you want, but Ian Mcdiarmid is great!

  • Not...For a Jedi....

Is it possible to learn this power?

  • Does this mean Luke is going to die? Or is he just giving up on being Jedi? Man, I'm scared.

  • I know only one truth. The trailer made us scared.

  • i find interesting interview by adam driver who plays kylo ren. i found this through link on a youtube. it only hints some that kylo ren will go through in star wars 8 there are no other spoilers or hints about the other characters.

if u dont want to know anything about the new movie dont click on this link.

  • I highly doubt they'll kill him off in episode 8, and I think he might survive episode 9 as well. They should have at least one of the original trilogy characters appear in the future fourth trilogy of episodes 10, 11 and 12
