Which Season was the Best?

For me I'm only counting S1-S3 since S4 its too early to judge. (You can count S4 if you want)

In my opinion, I think Season 1 was the best Season.

The story was more heartwarming and sweet like how the the core story of Season 1 was the relationship between Lee and Clem and how Lee protects her.

Season 2 and 3, the story felt lackluster to me like it needed more since both Seasons felt like there wasn't no story.

The choices were way harder in Season 1 than S2 and S3. Like the choices I made really made me think and feel guilty about what I chose.

Season 2 and 3 its like the choices wasn't really hard to me. I never felt guilty about them because in the end the result is the same. The same could be said for S1 but at least the choices you make, the consequences came later while S2 and S3 the consequences come immediately after you do them.

For example.

S2 it doesn't matter if you save Sarah or Not because she still dies. If you save her she dies in that same episode. It doesn't matter of you let Rebecca rest or not because she still dies regardless.

S1- If you save Carley or Doug, they actually do something for you until Episode 3 when Lily shoots them.

Yeah Carley/Doug still dies but it doesn't come until much later. To me Season 1 choices matter but also don't. Really the choices you make in S1 affects Clem.

Also the character are way more likable and memorable in S1 than the others. Let me just say, the only characters I cared about in S2 was Luke, Clem, Jane (until Episode 5 happened), and Pete.

While Season 3 its. Javi, Jesus, and somewhat Tripp (But even he had his moments where he was unlikable), Clem (but Season 3 TT kind of overexaggerated)

Also the emotional moments. I felt more emotion with Season 1 than S2 and S3. The ending of Season 1 got to me way worse than Season 2 endings and Season. 3.

Season 2 and 3 endings felt exactly like Season 1 ending where Clem is still alone in the end and is the sole survivor but the difference is that Season 1 makes Clem going alone mean a lot where Clem and Lee have their final moment saying goodbye to each other (I'm feeling emotional just thinking about it) while the other Seasons while it was multiple endings it felt forced to make Clem alone.

Hopefully Season 4 is somewhat similar to Season 1 when it comes to choices making you feel guilty, and the emotional moments but also make it into its own story (but also make the story more engaging than Season 2 and 3 because i'll be honest, those Seasons felt boring to me). Season 4 is already looking promising and even though i know the boarding school kids are going to die, I'm mainly looking forward to this Season because of Clementine and AJ relationship and its already sweet. Them other kids, if they die I wouldn't care nor wouldn't be surprised.

So which Season is the best to you?

Comments

  • Season one is the best season, with The final season being a close second.

  • Season one and two had both amazing stories, but season one is still the best because of the amazingly emotional bond between Lee and Clementine. However, I am very much certain that TFS will be the by far best season because they're going to exploit all of the hype and emotional connection we have towards Clementine thanks to previous seasons.

  • I couldn't really see the story of Season 2. Its like at the beginning they didn't know what to do until they decided to just go with the Carver's camp idea but after Episode 3, once again they didn't know where else to take it like they just dropped that plot.

But yeah, i also believe that Season 4 has the potential to be better than Season 1. I like where the story is now like the Ranch plot and the Raiders.

  • I think S4 will be the best.

  • Personally I like s2 the best, but s1 is the best no matter what. It was too perfect of a game. Everything was right. It was a plan that just came together. In my opinion it set the quality bar too high for the series. No other game has come close to topping it.

  • I enjoyed all of them, even A New Frontier (Yes people I said it :naughty: ) But I would rank Season One as probably my favourite. The Final Season will probably pass it out after Episode 4 is released as it will continue to get better and better after Episode 1

  • Same. I see the issues but they don't prevent me from enjoying it. There were a lot of issues during development and it is evident by looking at the Episodes but the effort put into the Episodes is also evident. Given the circumstances and situation it was probably the best the team could do with the little time they had.

  • A new frontier. The story was magical, you could relate to all of the characters, the endings were tear jerkers and the Javier and Clem bond knock the Clem and Lee bond out of the park. Rest easy, Javi....my sweet prince ❤️?⚾️

  • did you really make this post expecting people to pick something other than season 1? In my opinion I liked season 2 more for personal reasons

  • I loved Season Two. Being able to play as Clementine, Reunite with Kenny, and staying with Kenny at the end of Season Two were my favourite parts

  • Nope. Just wanted to hear people opinions on which season they preferred. They don't have to like Season 1.

  • Oh come on, we all know that it's obviously A New Frontier Season 1.

  • Yep S1 is not only the best season, but one of the most emotional and well written stories ever.
We all are tired of talking about season 3 and, while season two was pretty good overall, a sense of direction after ep 3 was lacking and there were too many underdeveloped characters.

  • I can't find a reason not to say Season 1.

  • Season One, no doubt about it.

I’m not sure how anyone doesn’t think that. (Though I’m interested to hear opinions if you’re against it).

  • Same here. I had a good time with it even with all it's problems. As for my ranking from top to bottom:
    1. Season 1
    2. Season 2
    3. Michonne (idk, I wanted to include it since I really liked it)
    4. ANF
We'll see where TFS goes but so far I love it.

Season 1 was great. Season 2 was well-done. ANF wasn't bad and The Final Season looks promising. I'll rank them like this:
    1.A New Frontier
    2.Season 2
    3.The Final Season
    4.Season 1

The whole idea of S2 is basically about pure survival. Goals in S1 were way more focused and planned (long term) like going to savanna to look for Clementine’s parents, while season 2 is more like ‘let’s just survive today’. The only somewhat focused long term goal in S2 is Wellington, but only about 40% of players even made it there. A lot of people like S2 for this reason because it adds to S2’s already bleak mood and atmosphere.

I couldn't really see the story of Season 2. Its like at the beginning they didn't know what to do until they decided to just go with the Ca

  • I'm actually going to go ahead and say season 2. I've been thinking about it, and I love S1, but S2 built off of what the first season established so well, and actually put us into the position of trying to survive as Clementine after we spent so long teaching her how to do so.

  • Yep. Season 2 is really fucking bleak and I like the concept of "we have no goal. We just survive."

I couldn't really see the story of Season 2. Its like at the beginning they didn't know what to do until they decided to just go with the Ca

  • I’ll rank them best to worst. I’m not including TFS yet sense it’s not finished.

    1. Season 1: Evolved Telltale’s way they made games. I’d go as far to say it is the most monumental game for the ‘point and click adventure game’ genre. Not much to say that’s already been said.

    2. Season 2: I LOVE S2. I personally think the first two episodes exceeded most of S1’s episodes. It establishes the tone and atmosphere better then any other WD game and playing as an 11 year old girl was unique and really interesting to me (until they kinda fucked it up in ep 3 and 4). I completely understand why some people like this season more then S1. The main problem in this season for me were episodes 3 and (mainly) 4. They really fumbled the ball with these two and tarnish what the first two episodes accomplished. As for ep 5, I personally loved it. I thought they did a good job at bringing back the tone that episodes 1 and 2 had and my ending really got to me (almost as much as S1 personally). Whenever I casually replay TWD series I almost always only play S1 and S2, If TFS wasn’t looking as good as it is so far, I honestly would’ve stuck by my past belief that they should’ve ended the series at S2, I think the endings provide plenty of closure.

    3. A New Frontier: The shit season. I still can’t rap my head around Telltale’s thought processes when making this season. My biggest gripe about ANF is it simply doesn’t have that WD feeling. ANF feels cheap and flashy while S1 and especially S2 feel darker and grounded like TWD should be. ANF has been torn up enough, you get the idea.

    4. Michonne: This game is completely forgettable. The only factor that shined in this game was Norma and Randall, other then that it is complete garbage. As a comic book fan and a Telltale fan this game was very disappointing.

  • I think S1 is overall the best season currently. Season Two, however, has probably some of my favorite standalone-scenes of all seasons and improves over the first season in many ways, but it can't hold the quality throughout the whole season.

    ANF? No.

I like Michonne for it's fight-choreography and presentation, but other than that ... there's not much else besides Norma and Randall.

TFS has the potential to be my favorite season if the remaining episodes can hold the quality of Done Running, if not even surpass it.

Season 2 no doubt, it is the part when we play with Clementine herself after we taught her how to survive with Lee.
Then Season 1 and Michonne are almost equal to me, I think she is a total badass, she is one of my favourite character.

  • I like the story of Season 2 way more, but the exploration and interaction with the environments could have been a lot better. The music needs to be noted too, it is fantastic hearing the end credits for just about all the episodes, especially 3 and 4. I’m partially bummed out that the credits for S1’s episodes except for the last one are all the same.

  • Gaming Sins identifies some pretty good plot errors. Oh wait, that happens with all Telltale games!
Also kinda cool that I saw Metallica and AronDracula as top comments.

  • It would be S2, but the amazing thing about S1 is how there are

    Little to no problems, narrative-wise

There's just another level of effort put into this game, it's awesome.

  • I appreciate that s1 was the best written; and while I really did enjoy playing s3 I would have to say s2 was my favorite to play. I love s4 so far; that will probably take the lead for me soon.
