Woah, that's a neat find! There's been a few other instances of where, for classic Telltale games, that a replacement voice actor used for a character ended up being replaced by their original actor closer to the game's release (and/or in later re-releases), but that's probably the highest profile instance that we publicly know of.

I do think that something similar happened with another one of Telltale's games, Back to the Future, where they did a rerelease with Biff Tannen's voice actor being added in for the rerelease.

It’s cool that we’re getting more Adventure Time episodes - but, man, I hope that’s just the poster art style and not the show’s actual style for episodes.

The Bear Season 5 premieres a few days before then - the end of June will be pretty stacked, looks like!

  • Place your bets on which ‘asking for so and so’ thread outlasts the other!

Lattsam and his Sam and Max thread has that determination and consistency, while the Minecraft fans and their Season 3 thread has a seemingly endless supply of soldiers dedicated to the cause.

    My money’s on Lattsam.

Turns out Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels), the creator of the popular Backrooms web series and the director of the movie is actually the son of the former VFX lead in Telltale Games! That's pretty neat.

I really hope Wolf 2 is good. It looks like they are probably sticking with the original story which is the best case scenario. I think the original team's vision probably would have had more sauce (which I think is already apparent between the 2 trailers) BUT I do think if they were left with a very solid blueprint to follow it can still be good. Kind of worried that it looks kind of cheap? I guess it probably will be considering all the dev issues and swapping multiple developers.

Still wish they showed more or had some type of update posted. I hope they post a blog post or something, none of their socials are updating which is weird. I think they forgot their password.

Don't want to sound greedy, but after all this time and another "sometime next year, I swear!" release date, I want to see actual gameplay. Something that helps make it clear how far in development this game is. Imagine if this gets delayed again. Maybe I'm being too pessimistic, I think I just finally became really burned by this and I ain't gonna believe it until it actually releases.

Curious about the remaster. Wish they showed it more. I kind of feel like there isn't much to remaster outside of cleaner animation. They could add some cool bonus feature stuff though and I assume they also want to get more people in before the new game comes out, like maybe it will be able to directly carry save info over despite being a different engine. Saw a thumbnail for it posted for Playstation (but the wrong trailer lol) and uhhh Snow and Bigby looked weird af

With all that said. Telltale you BETTER have managed to get out of being Epic exclusive. Epic Exclusive in the big 27 is just straight up suicide. It wont matter if the game is great.

(Also Goblin butler made it very happy about that)

Ok so editing this because I went to the new partners page and it says Wolf 2 is on Steam. I am pretty sure they cant do that until exclusive stuff is over, so I think they were able to get out of being epic exclusive. Thank you for not shooting yourself Telltale lol. Theres also some wolf 2 screenshots and remastered screenshots. The remaster is uh... some screenshots look unchanged and some just look weird imo

Also a new interview. Seems like the original story is probably not still there. He is pretty vague about it, mentions the biggest difference is a lot of it is scaled down, so I don't think the game is going to be as expansive as they originally wanted. Its also unclear how much of the story remains, but honestly sounds like not a lot. Kind of comes off as "New story created but had to use the assets from the previous story" which is ironically very, very Telltale coded lmao. Considering Dispatch was such a big hit, I think they'd probably very eagerly say "majority of the original story is intact" but they didn't, so. Probably something else now.

  • Telltale did an interview with IGN that talks about some of the sequel, remaster, the split with Adhoc, and their hopes for the future.

    Important bits

    • TWAU 1 remaster is expected to release on the anniversary of the first game this year in October.
    • Trick Studios is their co-development partner for TWAU 2. Taking on Adhoc's role from before the reset.
    • The Expanse game was done externally with Deck Nine because they believed that "trying to do two games at the same time with a company starting from scratch is really not a great plan."
    • They originally started developing Wolf 2 with the Telltale Tool and Unreal 4 but after two years into development faced issues and ultimately decided with resetting to Unreal 5.
    • Development on the Wolf 1 remaster started out with them wanting to iron out the "egregious" bugs of the original game, then experimenting with making the game look incrementally better before becoming a full blown remaster. It also became a good way to reintroduce audiences to the world of the games by bringing them into modern consoles.
    • The reset is what caused them to part ways with Adhoc. Telltale realised that they wouldn't be able to begin producing content for another year and didn't want Adhoc (who were a team of four at the time), to just sit on the sidelines until they were ready to start development again so they decided to end the partnership. By the time Telltale was ready, Adhoc was deep into development with Dispatch.
    • Some of Adhoc's elements from before the reset still remain, but it isn't the exact same game that was originally envisioned. There are still people who worked on the game from its inception, so there is still some continuity from within the team.
    • They would like to do a Wolf 3 at some point but at the moment they are looking at doing a different project which they will begin concept development this year.
    • They want to focus on one game at a time, with a development cycle of three years with hopes of releasing a game every two years.
  • How Telltale be talking about Deck Nine and Expanse

  • Good to be back, been a while, but happy that’s it news regarding TWAU 2.

Sad to see AdHoc no longer involved, but it’s understandable considering the circumstances. I’m just happy to know the project isn’t dead.

  • Good to see some new footage of Wolf 2 finally!

But not too excited for a new release date. The way this game's announcements were handled over the years - it should have been the "comes out next month, here's the actual final date down to a day" type of re-announcement. Like this game was originally announced with a 2018 release date. Then 2023. Here we are. 2027 doesn't give me any hope at all, and tells me that if Wolf Remaster sales tank the game can go silent again for a couple of years, like it has before.

Regarding the actual footage shown - really glad seeing some things, like seeing Bluebeard have a role again as well as Colin, seeing Totenkinder and an actual goblin (or something, don't remember his name fromt he comics), more comic characters, great! The premise is intriguing, like the different murder mystery, Bigby being suspected and possibly exiled, potentially giving us and him a better look at the more down-trodden members of Fabletown society, etc. The weird stuff was definitely the animation - looks a little too...I dunno, smooth? Floaty? Not used to it, I wonder if it's gonna be this way in Remaster as well. Not bad at all, just something to get used to I think. Overall, excited, can't wait to play, but catious of the release date. The AdHoc vision being scrapped and reset is a red flag for sure, I hope at least the major bits of the story remained the same.

Now for the Remaster. I have a very weird relationship with it, "sold, but not sold" kind of thing. Like I don't really see anything too drastic about it in the screeshots, could have used video demonstration for better understanding. Looking closer it does seem a little different, like Snow White looks different, Gren's hair looks different, the textures on the notes and stuff like that seems crisp. Honestly not enough for me to consider buying this, I wish they would have added something else to it. Like there's a reason remasters are often called a new coat of paint, why not do something similar to the Shadows Edition of Batman? Just not with black and white, but kind of a neon-noir style, with more vibrant purples and blues in the shadows, stuff like that?
But in any case, as I said before, I am "sold, but not sold" on it, which means while I don't see any reason to buy this remaster, I will still buy it, ugh, anything to support Wolf 2's release.

  • So I was wrong? I was certain this game wouldn't be able to see the light of day. I guess every game stuck in development hell deserves a Pragmata chance. But only time will tell.

Anyways, it's good to be alive. I missed being here with yall.

  • New Wolf 2 stuff left me pretty cold. Feeling the same kind of "meh" I felt when Bloodlines 2 got revamped. The trailer from 2022 was great. This one, not so much. I guess after all this time, I don't really care either way. Honestly, new Telltale should really really do their best to finish it up and move on to something fresh so we can all be free from this limbo. But I'm not getting any hopes up for a 2027 release either. Was nice to hear Dave Fennoy and Adam Harrington again though.

For the remaster i'm hoping they add some scenes that were cut like the gameplay of Bigby deleting camera footage evidence at the start of episode 2,i also imagine we will get that office scene cut from episode 5.

Maybe if we're really lucky we will get that scene of Bigby cleaning up shit that the Woodsman did so the mundies don't find out but i have big doubts about that, would be cool though.
