how does one become a mod?

  • Darth must have some inside information what date do you predict TWD season 2 episode 2 will be released

OK. First of all, you don't become a mod just by asking. The fact that Vainamoinen did was an exception, and one that is NOT going to be repea

  • Pretty much this. Being a mod isn't just about "being an active user" so you can remove spam/trolling and whatnot. I've only been a mod for like two months, so obviously I can't speak all high and mighty about myself, but I'd say in general it helps to contribute something notable to the community - or to just be respected as Darth points out about himself and Jenni.

As I pointed out above in my post, I became a mod through making helpful posts about Telltale, and up until then, I was partially a lurker on and off on these forums.

  • Well, it's not that intrinsically simple - but yeah, those steps help.

What? Didn't you get the latest issue of "Juicy Telltale Insider Secrets for Moderators" today?

They talk about the release date for Walking Dead 202, right inbetween the article about their evil schemes for world domination and the article about Tales of Monkey Island Season 2/Walking Dead Season 3/Murder at the Inventory/etc.

...Wait. This isn't the mod forum... Uhh... forget that last part, guys.

    Cough

Er... Yeah. Whatever was I thinking?

    Heck, I'll add some more.

    • Don't feed the trolls
    • Don't insult other users - even if they are trolling.
    • Don't reply to spambots
    • Don't complain about not getting the next episode of a game once it has been more than a month since last episode.
    • Keep use of memes/gifs/YouTube video responses to a minimum
    • Don't discuss banned users - even if they were trolls.
    • Don't spam the forums with 30 alternate accounts if you get banned.

These are also great steps for making this community a better pla- uh, I mean becoming a Mod!

I will be paying in cheque form but last question what if mod goes crazy with the power? closing all our posts or comments who is there to protect the people? If Mod breaks the rules and we report him who's there to stop him. Are we merely citizens in dictatorship where our power is ranked by our class me being just member!!

We got quite a few of those back in the day. Like, seriously.

That reminds me of how a bunch of bots spammed the Tales of the Borderlands forums a while back.

I had never been so tempted to curl into fetal position. The horror...

(Ignoring that what you show in your screenshot is much worse than mine)

  • We're always up for a bit of banter. Unfortunately, it's a matter of timing - most of the time it's not really appropriate for us to start having a bit of fun.

  • Ah, but back then we could just ban someone AND delete all their posts at the same time.

We can't do that these days - we have to manually delete each thread one. By. One.

I think it's fair to say that Sniper wins. This time.

thanks. I like seeing what each different mod says about their experience and how they became mods.

edit: if you ever do need a new mod, there's lots of great people on this forum. keep modding away! oh wait..... I made you guys sound like 3rd party users who illegally add/change games. whoops.
