I would be disturbed if someone didn't anymore actually. I mean I even saw a 60+ year old former British Royal Navy man who also watches anime, and surprisingly not the pedophile stuff. lol
when people think anime they think animation for children. but the fact is anime is just a subject with lots a of styles. lots of storyplots genures that are for a range of people different ages.
We used to compete on who could actually sing this song... it was almost impossible... just too fast at it's highest pace moments. lol enter link description here
Can never go wrong with this one despite it feels weird at first. But it's catchy. lol enter link description here

I'm afraid this thread can turn into a anime popularity contest rather than ones that have really memorable/catchy opening theme songs. When I think of catchy I think of something I can literally hum/whistle myself and even decades after I last saw it, still remember the tunes. Hence why I can just pick a few random epic tunes from anime made decades ago. =D
Surprised this wasn't one of the first posted, it's actually one of the most iconic intro songs in anime history. PS knowing this epic intro is what makes this video here 100x more epic than it actually is. enter link description here
Why not? Sakurai War's has one heck of an addicting and yet epic theme song. Lovely they used it for their openings as well. enter link description here
Oh I think that is enough for me now. Edit, now that i think about it... all of these are making me miss when they actually had 80s and 90s anime on TV even if it was the late 90s and 2000s, didn't matter, people didn't seem to care at the time how old it was. I think the first anime I fell in love with they played on TV in 1996 despite the anime itself was from 1982. Man TV just sucks anymore here. T-T
Why, yes. It's quite amazing really, it's a little something commonly referred to as "Different opinions and tastes" if you can believe it. I know it sounds impossible, but think about it and it will all make sense.
Says Trailer but it is just a textless opening. Still one of my favorites ever, it is beautiful and I remember almost every note to this melody. enter link description here
For the same reasons as above, beautiful, and memorable. I also have the entire song memorized. hehe enter link description here
I would also like to second those who have suggested Shiki, Attack on Titan and Death Note (all great themes). Also Noir would definitely be on this list if I could find it on Youtube.

Can't decide between intro of Kuroshitsuji II and Shingeki no Kyojin, both are awesome.

I still don't think they meant age, but more of the timing. Like I think they meant anime is outdated.
oh well that statement is wrong because new anime is release all the time. the style is not going anywhere

There are a few I could listen to for hours without end.
RWBY: Volume 3 Opening: When It Falls by Jeff Williams and Casey Lee Williams
enter link description here
Dragon Ball Z Opening: Cha La Head Cha La by Flow
enter link description here
Sword Art Online 2: Courage by Tamatsu Haruka

There are a few others, but I think these are good examples.
Claymore

Hellsing
enter link description here
Yuyu Hakusho
enter link description here
I don't know about you guys but usually the endings always stay more in my head than the openings.

I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry tears but it's so addictingly awesome. Time to be addicted and tortured into infinity.

Hate to post one so obvious but no one else did so far....

Honestly the song isn't catchy, though the intro is memorable. They even copied it for Boondocks and Archer. hehe
Catchiest themes I've heard:
