Are these forums still fun to be around? (for old timers mostly)

  • Wait, "joined 2014" is now "old timers"? Sacrebleu.

  • Thanks, I thought you might have an interesting perspective and I was not disappointed!

What you said about the demographic shift is interesting. I was 21 when I joined in 2014, just after A House Divided dropped. I definitely felt like one of the older ones. I wonder why S2 brought so many teens. In my recollection, there were still some pretty good discussion, but the immaturity. Particularly the Cluke fiasco, the arguments about Sarah after episode 3 and those venomous Jane vs. Kenny posts.

well, i very much enjoyed some pretty deep discussions about morality and the psychology of TWD season one, and i had some very fun sort of

I left for a while after season 2 of TWD ended because I was sick of seeing all the same old rehashed threads and petty arguments. Having come back now, I'd have to say no, not really. Aside from there being very little to talk about - in regards to topics that actually peak my interest - I just feel that… Without coming off as too rude, a lot of users here are on the immature side. I think it was around the mid-point of season 2 that I started to find the forums really cringy. Back then there were so many people who couldn't respect opinions, and now there seem to be just as many.

I used to come by a lot out of habit, but that probably won't be happening as much.

i think one thing is that telltale just got more popular, but also a game like the walking dead might not really appeal to a younger market, but with it's success people came along for the season two ride, plus a young protagonist and the general "the kid knows better than the adults" theme of season two appeals to a younger market.

also one thing that i didn't mention before is that i think a lot of people (especially the younger ones) on the forum haven't even played the game and have just watched it on youtube, which i think gives a much more closed perspective on the game.

as for the venomous debates, kenny Vs Lilly (in season one) was quite strong, but it did seem less personal and perhaps a bit more objective on the circumstances or more analysis of the psychology of the two, and less of a "kenny is an asshole" "no, jane is an asshole and so are you" type discussion

Been here since 2012, around the release of Walking Dead 1. Don't think of myself an "old-timer", but I was around when the forum changed.

I wasn't here to have seen what the community was like pre-Walking Dead, but I loved the old layout of the site, back when it was an actual organized forum board. There were a lot less toxic users compared to the amount today, a lot less bickering, and some pretty neat discussions (even though a multitude of threads were people spamming and asking where the new episodes were).

The overall feeling of this forum changed when its site layout did in late 2013. Even though more and more users jumped on this site around then, most of the old point and click adventure game fans (as well as early Walking Dead fans) scattered to more reliable forums on the internet.

I honestly don't know why I keep dropping in on this site. Force of habit, I guess.

  • I remember after the website change, a lot of people ditched this place and started up another forum called Wellington or something. I haven't been there in a long time. I wonder if and of the old folks are still there?

Yeah, it's the main forum I use nowadays. It's pretty cozy.

A few of the old Walking Dead fans and people who didn't like the site change moved over there.
