Chapter 2 previews, screenshots etc. Soon?

edited August 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
It's gotta be soon, right? Only 2 or 3 weeks until release.

Now the plot's underway I can't wait to start discussing things we see in the screenshots & trailers for Episode 2 "The Siege of Spinner Cay", akin to poring over things seen in trailers for new episodes of "Lost".

Any hints as to where and when Episode 2 preview material might start hitting the web?

Would also be good to have post icons for Narwhal and Spinner Kay, like the ones we have for Sam & Max Season 1. (maybe episode icons with 'spoilers' / 'non-spoilers' too)

I hope soon. I'd imagine the icons for each episode are the ones shown in the Telltale store, Voodoo lady for ep2. just after july 7th on telltales twitter page they mentioned that they were working out when to release ep2 info, feels like a while ago now so hopefully very soon :)

Well, they already got our money so there goes the incentive to bait customers with WIP screenshots et al of episode 2... ;)

    (Just kidding... :p)

Well, it WOULD be nice to see another wallpaper or a mini-screenshot. :)

I wonder if Episode 2 details will be revealed at Comic-Con?

This is my first post, and I have some information! In the newest issue of nintendo power, there's a page on tales of monkey island. It says that chapter 2 involves... mermaids. "In chapter 2, guybrush is caught in a feud between the pirates cursed with the pox and an ancient race of mer-people." I'll post a picture if none of you belive me.

    well Mer-people make sense,
after all that pirate sitting outside the courthouse on Flotsam Island talks about the mer-people. I think they had something to do with the winds and so in turn something to do with de Singe? I hope de Singe turns up anyway : )

Mermaids? Damn they stole my fan-game idea!

As long as it's not a copy paste of what was in Moai Better Blues (I read the walkthrough), mermaids sound great. I was just thinking last night Monkey Island is more open to more mythological creatures. The last true mythological beast we saw was the troll on Melee Island, and I don't think that angle was used enough at all. Mythological creatures; not trolls.

Didn't you press the giant "Enhance" button? It makes the blurriest photographs on Earth crystal clear!

No.. no.. I guess the song's over then.. Okay, back to work. Aww, I feel a little guilty now.

But seriously, we could definitely use an enhanced version of that image. I'm pretty excited to hear about more Chapter 2 stuff.

The chapter 2 stuff is only in the last paragraph. I could just post that paragraph, if you want.

Ugf, that Gamespot vid's not loading. I've never had any luck with their stuff.

Anyone want to post what happens in it?

[edit] Never mind! Managed to sort it out by trying in a different browser. Their player doesn't seem to agree with my version of Firefox for whatever reason.

They don't reveal too much, but at least:
-They don't have a release date yet
-We'll start to learn more about the people who made Flotsam Island
-And it seems we're going to have to deal more with LeChuck

oh they are SOOOO talking about the mer-people!
  • edited July 2009
And I thought the carvings on the jungle entrance are just manatees.
  • edited July 2009
    Manatee mer people then ....
  • edited July 2009
Well, I suppose this comes from the real life theory that stories of mermaids originated from distant sightings of manatees... heh :)

That was George Lucas in a troll suit.

They have even the same word for both in spanish: "Sirenas"

    Manatee -> Manatí

Sirena is the name of the order where manatees and simmilar belongs.
  • edited July 2009
"Manatí" and "sirena" are quite often synonyms. The order where they (and other simmilars) belong is "sirenios" or "sirénidos"

I really don't like the idea of MI devolving into a fantasy type of game. I like how the first 4 pretty much exclusively deal with human pirates and undead pirates (talking monkey aside).

So you're cool with ghosts, skeletons, zombies, talking animals, all manners of voodoo, giant robotic monkeys, time travel, etc. but mermaids is where you draw the line?
  • edited July 2009
It depends alot on how well they tie it with the story/world. Who knows, maybe we'd get dirty monstrous fishpeople instead of girly metrosexuals with pink tails.

This game needs to be a little darker. MI has gone too soft.

The ghosts, skeletons, zombies and voodoo I like, not so much the talking animals, robotic monkeys, mermaids and time anomalies (unless its the Bermuda Triangle). All of the undead stuff falls under the guise of voodoo which is predominantly part of the mytharc...mermaids do not.

I have never understood this. I have yet to play a Monkey Island game that was "dark."

Yeah, but mermaids fit pretty well into a pirate story.
