at the end, while exploring and trying to figure out what to do next I went back to Spoon Isle and LeChuck was no longer standing at the cannon! However, when I clicked on the cannon Guybrush still said his line as if LeChuck was there (something like "I'm not messing with him while he's got a cannon"). Leaving the scene and coming back didn't fix the glitch either. But it didn't matter.
I noticed this too. And you can find turtle artifact again in crash site and go back to the beach and place artifact on cannon :). It goes to LeChucks hat again and all other pirates are there too but you cannot see those eighter. They attack to LeChuck and steal the artifact again. Then you have to make same conversation with LeChuck than before. This happens me everytime no matter if i leave scene and came back. I thought that i must get LeChuck off cannon and help me with those logs on the beach. Fortunately i solved problem when i found this rubber tree :)

Giantbomb's Quick Look: The Siege of Spinner Cay

Link *spoiler alert if you haven't played the game (obviously)*

Giantbomb.com does "Quick Looks", something like a preview/short let's play. I like their quick looks, I like TMI, so this is a perfect combination for me. :D

Already played it and was disappointing!
In my opinion "the siege" was very easy and predictable... it seemed very small in gameplay!
I hope that the third chapter is better, I wouldn't want to think that I wasted my money on "Monkey Island", any of them....

Just one question, how did the weather vane get onto the front of the ship?

I got the impression that it's there because Guybrush put it there, maybe because he liked the way it looked.

At first I thought that was reasonable, given that the Vacaylians were an aquatic race; I figured that most of their city would be underwater. Then I remembered that Guybrush can be underwater for ten minutes, so that kind of negated that excuse for not having more locations.

I too was kind of expecting to use Guybrush's breath-holding ability; maybe it will come into play later, though.

Well, the next episode could come with lots of underwater possibilities.

I think in every other MI game we saw Guybrush underwater.(Except CoMI, unless you consider easter eggs). But anyway, its not really a "must".

My guess is that allows your brain time to react and change the way you're making Guybrush walk, so that he doesn't just run back the opposite direction and make you backtrack. That's always a danger when you have camera-relative controls... if the camera changes to face a different direction you might start running around all crazy until you realize there was a change. So I think the waiting is a necessary evil to prevent an even worse control headache.

Yeah, right. Didn't think of that.
But I'm sure there is an easier way. This one is annoying a little.

Yes, but there was no time in between episodes in which Guybrush could've put it there.

He could put it in Chapter 1, after he took his hand out of tar but before reached Rock of Gelato. IIRC, we didn't see that part of the ship to tell it's not there by then.

S&M 205 was the only episode I really enjoyed, but there was a 206?

I believe he meant 204&205, since Chariots of the Dogs seems to be the fan-favourite S&M episode (myself included). That or 105&106.

You're in a very, very small minority...And most Telltale fans know what to expect now. Its size was pretty standard for a Telltale episode.

Well.. I finished both chapters in a few evenings.. Can't wait to get my hands (ouch :P) on the third one! :)

    Great work, Telltalers..

    The minority just got bigger.
The puzzles here were far easier than normal. Maybe the episode was same size, but the easy puzzles made it kinda boring, like following a walkthrough because it all was so obvious.

Some of the puzzles were quite easy, you're right. But for me it's not the puzzles that's the most important thing, it's the over all atmosphere, the humour, the characters and the dialogues (<- spelling?) that is ...

But hold your horses, maybe the forthcoming episodes will be harder and harder.. who knows? Can't wait for the next chapter to show its mug :)

Yes, there are a few bugs. I noticed a door hanging in the air after I got my mast blasted away by that villain at the end (don't remember the name of him), and when using the raft between the islands I caused the game to hang after using the pause function (space bar..).

Has it been announced when there's going to be a Season upgrade in the store?

I completely agree. This is what's been bugging me. You can buy a whole season from Telltale, or an individual episode from Amazon in the United States, but you cannot upgrade plus you have to be in a certain country to buy individual episodes. It wasn't always this way with other episodes! Why change now?

Maybe because these aren't episodes but chapters... it wouldn't make sense to play just a single chapter of a story, would it? The other series had pretty much self-contained episodes, so it would make sense to just play them separately.

This is the Telltale Forums! We don't operate on common sense here! We operate on a slot that says insert Episodic Adventure Games! If they weren't episodic Telltale wouldn't have enough to keep us running at a regular basis!
If the game gets stuck in our gears, too bad, we don't have return slots.

(And I've just made episodic games sound creepier than anyone could have possibly imagined.)

S&M episodes may be more or less self contained, but you get much more out of it if you DO play them in order.
It all makes more sense and you get the running gags much better (like the trophy closet). Especially the last two episodes of season 2 are just too far out if you don't know the story.

There is a demo of ToMI and you can get a free S&M episode too see if you like it. I don't see what the fuss is all about. Buying the full shabang at once from Telltale directly is the best deal you can get anyway.

Well, I liked Launch of the Screaming Narwhal better, but that's a high bar to set. The beginning and ending were great (swordfighting!
    Oh the huge manatee!
Maps!), the middle dragged some though, mainly because of the re-use of the Three Fetchquests standard. I know it's tradition, but it's usually done once a game for a reason.

But there was a Full Throttle reference, so that helped ease the pain.

Elaine's advice to Guybrush at the end - "Don't put your lips on anything!" - calls back to Ben's best-known stock quote, "I'm not putting my lips on that," when you try to use the talk/kiss/eat verb on something you shouldn't.

    Oh :)

It's also a reference to one of the things the storekeeper in MI1 says when you tell him "I think I'd just like to browse" - he says "Okay, but don't put your lips on anything."

Okay, I'm starting to get impatient.
Tales of Monkey Island was released in NA August 31st.
In Europe? Who the heck knows.
This weeks Wiiware update just went online and, what a surprise, no Spinner Cay.
I want a little official information on this.
I'll try contacting NoE, but seriously, right now I want someone to put my finger on, someone who takes responsability for this.

We'd love to tell you when it's coming out for NOE, believe me. The fact of the matter is we simply don't know. As soon as we are told, we will let you know.

    Thanks for the fast answer.
You know, to think that the people in the comment section were grouching that there was no info from your side...
Well, let's see what Nintendo has to say.

That's right! I knew I had heard that somewhere and I knew it was LucasArts related but I just couldn't put my finger on it!

Are you sure you bought the season and not just the first episode? If so, you need to get in touch with their support team (support@telltalegames.com).
  • edited September 2009
No and that's the problem. I don't know where I can buy the second chapter. That's the whole problem. :)

You can't. There was talk a while back about the separate put on Amazon to buy separately but currently 1) only ep1 is up there and 2) it's only available to US customers. You'll have to buy the entire season off TT for $29.95 (which should still be worth the price).

If you got the free talk like a pirate thing, when you boot up the game it should open the wrapper thingy. In the wrapper you will find the upgrade to a full season ad. The store will update with season upgrade option soonish.
