The Walking Dead S1 Switch Port is.... different...

I downloaded it when it came out last night and played the first episode this morning and it’s... weird. It’s not the collection version but it’s also not the original, it’s like they combined the best out of the two and I have to say, I think it’s my favorite version. It doesn’t go overboard on the lighting and color like the collection, yet it still has improved lighting. The eyes don’t look wack like the collection version and they kept the original UI. They’re was a few little bugs but nothing gamebreaking (in the barn when talking to Hershel the audio got kinda weird and rarely Lee’s mouth has a weird facial glitch but that’s about it). I wish this was the remastered version on consoles, I’ll update this post once I finish the season to give my final thoughts.

  • I wonder if Take Us back is in this version.

  • I think it is. After playing the first episode the original music played but I’ll make sure to confirm that once I play the whole season.

  • Huh. Interested to hear more.

  • How is the menu? Still that shitty Netflix style?

  • No it’s the original menus. Like I said it has the classic UI (and even slightly improved a bit).

  • I want to see it but there's no way of capturing it on switch

  • In a few days a video will probably pop up showcasing the switch version.

  • Bought it more impulsively than I thought I would've when midnight hit, only got to playing it today (not even finishing the first ep yet). I don't know if exiting the game mid-episode at any time ruins the animations, but Lee and Carley's expressions have been bugged ever since I went back in. Otherwise, it seems like they kept most if not all of the lighting effects from the Collection. Really glad they're using the old menu. I haven't experienced any audio bugs, though. Both capture methods (screenshot and video) seem to work (v grateful).

  • Can you post screen shots of it

  • It’s not as bright and colorful though, I really dig it. I never left the game mid episode so that’s probably a glitch.

  • Restarted my file and now Lee's face messes up as early as the car crash. (either that or I'm remembering my previous playthrough wrong)

The Switch didn't find corrupted data, so I'm redownloading it. I have screens and videos, but I'll post them after I try playing again afterwards.

  • It could be, since this is just a port of the first season, which means it's not held like a seperate game unlike the collection, where the music was missing due to licensing issues.

If it was the collection, there wouldn't be any licensed music.

Season Two may also have its tracks back.
